Thread: Publish 6 Issues Feb. 11, 2004
Ok, I am about to be the most UNPOPULAR BE in the game.
First, there's not a whole lot broke with BE right now, and it is the most profitable of my 4 chars on my server. Petstims are a great mainstay, not hard to mass produce and can be sold for crazy money. My char has over 12million credits to date and spends 500k-1m regularly for her supplies. If you are having trouble making money perhaps you could add runs of stims to your offering ![]()
2) shellfish harvesting was MADE to not stack to avoid afk macroing, which to me seems fair. If you want the benefits of being a noteworthy BE....put the work in to it. Don't macro and leave and let the rest of us sweat to get what we need. Unfair, unwise, unwanted!
3) Milk is wonderfully done. Plenty of it for runs if you (again) put the time in to getting what you need. Quantities are reasonable for the levels of creatures you harvest. I say "Good job devs!"
4) Food additives ARE a bit of an issue in that they have given us an optional slot (operative word here....OPTIONAL) for a secret recipe data. My question would be...when we fianlly find this, will it be in enough quantity to make runs of the finished product? Or will they have to be singles? I agree that singles don't do us much good when selling to chefs.
5) The pet situation is annoying to say the least. It would be nice if there were a published guide somewhere as to what is expected of levels of pets. Ranges would be fine. As to the sampling issue...jeez....you are a BE! If you are having trouble with mask scent make yourself some kickarse mods for maskscent/camo and get busy! If you are macroing it and your inventory gets full I have no sympathy for you. Take your chances with the rest of us. I have spent as much as 3 days on some remote planet sampling, camping, combining and filling my inventory with pets. It is doable
Fail rates are fail rates....try being an architect if you are unhappy with them. I DO agree though that once the template is made and you have taken your chances there you should not be able to fail the finished product.
6) Fishing still needs to be improved as to the yeild.
7) My only major concern with this publish is the continued pet nerfing that goes on. Jeez! Get it right devs! Decide what the heck we can and can't do and leave it there! Many people aren't as resilient as I am and I am sure you are losing players over this....both BE's and regular consumers that get frustrated spending thier money and then losing thier investment. I refund no money, I tell them all to send a ticket. hehe.....I didn't create the problem....I am not going to DEAL with the problem
(pass the buck here)
That's about all I can remember right now ![]()
As a new BE I have brought with me something I've always done while hunting, seeing as my combat skill levels are 0. When a ? or ! appears over my target, I /pet them. In most instances this is successful, they calm down often lay down and I can continue sampling. Being low on the totem polem I often get fails when attempting to sample. I can usually continue sampling the same creature by just petting them inbetween samples. I know that other players who see me doing this say it is just a myth but it works for me over 90% of the time.
The most annoying thing for me is :
No matter what ressources you take (enhancers for be food, or for tissues) - there is nearly NO difference in the result.
crap flora and crap meat : 104% nutrion / best flora and meat : +115% nutrion.
nearly no difference + the fact, that whatever you do, you have 1-3 points of experimentation left.... so trying to be better, or getting higher reslults than others is just a waste of time....

Crap flora and meat did lower the max # of boxes you could experiment on though, yes? Which made for fewer experiments, more points left over, etc?
It is irritating the end result doesn't show a bit more spread, yes.
From experimenting with the new chef foods and additives, the base (no additive) food is still workable. While I have no doubt some people will accept nothing but the best results (so 'require' additives), chef foods that lack them are still QUITE good (flameout without additive: 97% damage reduction for the next three hits. Flameout WITH additive: 210% damage reduction for three hits... does it HEAL me when something hits me under this??)
Secret research data irritates me. I expect it will be a scroll or somesuch that only drops from Nightsisters or bigger... the real problem is that it will NOT be possible to factory run secret research data, which is just a bear. If I find a copy of the Colonel's Secret Recipie, it shouldn't evaporate after I make a single drumstick, but I fear that's exactly what's going to happen.

Overall, resources for additives are intensive, but possible. My friends have been getting substantial amounts of milk for the trying now (in factory quantities kind of substantial). Heavy nutrition additive is actually easy to factory produce, after a fashion. Make friends with one or more rangers, or do some serious hunting in a group, and 45k meat in a stack isn't hard, just painful.

i'm not too sure if this is a current issue (still a lil' wet behind the ears here), but when experimenting i used to see a red bar bouncing up and down just above a percentage value. the more points i spent at one time the higher the percentage rate would climb inducing greater failures.
now that i am MBE it always says 0% with no red bar going up and down anymore (i craft in a research center mostly).
my point is i still get experiment failures, seems even more now then when i was climbing the skill tree.
is this meter just for looks or does it mean something else that i am completely missing?
I have made several CL10 pets since the patch without any difficulty or issues. The formula for caluclating CL, while still somewhat of a mystery, doesn't appear to have changed with the recent patch.
Additionally, I have unlocked a recipe that makes CL10 pets that are 5k/3.8k/2k and 30+% kinetic. These are callable and usable when full grown. These are post patch creations.
While we may never see the algorithm fully explained for calculating CL, I do think the devs should state that the crafting system is now working as intended (distinct fromthe creature adjustment system for invalids which appears to be broken) and that pets that are created now are valid.
UPDATE: Although I still see an occasional low yield, the average seems to closer to 8 per lair. I thought it was funny that I found a lair on Talus the otehr day that was actually calle dsomething like a nest and was an actual nest with 4 eggs in it (yes - they could be seen) so I 'searched the lair' and got live butterflies. Go figure! LOL.
"I read there would be more fish, so I tried fishing (which had not been working on Kettemor for a few weeks) and sure enough, I got 4 units fo meat from a Faa. That is about what it used to be..."
Well, fishing does in fact yield more every once in a while, but I have found it slightly more difficult to catch fish than before, and have had several fish that yield NOTHING when I fillet them. I am not sure how that works, but still, I can leave with as much fish as I used to get when fishing due to the large numbers that can be had sometimes. I think the largest yield I ahve had from one fish was 18 or so.
While fishing I continually hit a function key with my new harvesting tool on it and find that I often end up with twice to four as many mollusks and twice to four as many Crustaceans af fish for the time I am out there. In other words I can get 300 Mollusk, 100 Fish, and 300 Crustacean in the time it used to take to get 100 Fish. =)
"Why has milk been made a requirement for things that did not used to require milk? I collected 1,300 units last night - over a two hour period - which is enough for me to craft about 40 times. Hum, it will now take me, oh,53 years (give or take a few) to get to Master BE because if this new requirement... AND, how will we ever bea able to craft items in quanitity to sell to tailors or chefs?"
This was mostly Eopies.... Have tried Banthas, Pikets, Rontos, Cu Pas, etc and find I am getting better results. I ran two missions on Dathomir(?) the other night for Pikets and made 20,000 credits while milking about 1,500 units of milk and getting about 50 really great DNA Samples. (Mask Scent, Milk, DNASample to death, move to next Piket... but be ready to run...)
"Why did my pets keep wanting to stand on my head? They never did that before and it makes healing them very hard."
This is still VERY annoying. I have started telling them to stay just behind me, or follow target if I am working some critter, but how did this get through test? I hope we do not have to wait for months to get this fixed.
"Why do my pets keep vanishing? When they were considered as part of the group when a mission is taken, they are generally required to finish the mission on a positive note. So, when you start an attack and your pets dissapear, leaving the group 2 seconds later, you get to either enjoy an instant nap, or worse yet - a free trip to the nearest cloning facility."
Maybe I was just on a bad server that night?? It happened all the time, and has hardly happened since. Unless it was quietly fixed already? Anyone else still having this issue?

Update: BE XP
Just a UI glitch. After a relog, all is working fine now.
BTW this is not just a BE issue. I have received it using two other professions. Seems to be triggered sometimes when you go auto AFK and come back but not always. Relogging or using shuttle seems to free it up.
XP monitor, XP list in skills window as well as the required/available XP when hovering over a skill in skill tree all match and stay stuck.
