Everything about the UI and control elements of the NGE is just like EQ2. It looks sort of like EQ2 with an SWG skin. However, no, I don't think we could stop it no matter what.

look at the threads about harvesting meat/bones/hides etc

and then do the math

those that have hides now will be ok for a while

no new smiths will ever have enough hides to make armor, EVER

this NGE has turned swg into WOW and maybe EQ2(i personaly cant say as i never played EQ2) i played WOW for three weeks and didnt like it becuse of the same old thing, and crafting was something i really liked about swg to beable to make something fromalmost nothingand beable to have some one use it ingame was awsome imo.this is just the first part of SOE/LA's plan to phase out crafting.

think about it this NGE sounds sooo close to how WOW is played as in no decay and leveling up that im sure they are makeing items into the same way. This adiction of mine is gone, and i must find a new one.

there is no point in fighting anymore... this is going live and there is not one thing that can be done about it. I am thankful at the time I spent playing SWG and the memories and friends I will be taking with me.

Looks likethere was really no chance of any of us ever being able to stop it, since it's obvious nowthey must have been planning this and working on it for many months ... all the while, keeping it secret and intentionally misleading their player base with the promises of things they had no intention of really doing. For the 'NGE' to be at the stage it is like this, so abruptly after announcing it, indicates this had to be their plan for a very long time. What stinks is not only the secrecy of keeping their intentions from the players and even the community correspondents, but their intentionally dishonest and nigh-fraudulent choice to promote the ToOW expansion, using completely false claims about what we (as Creature Handlers and as SWG players in general) could expect, in order to milk us of one last chunk of capital before they finally admitted what they were really going to do to us.

Seems pretty clear that they had zero interest in what their current player base wants or thinks at all, and that for their own reasons, they had committed to this course of action in spite of what their loyal customers' reactions would be. There was never any stopping this. It'll just have to serve as a lesson for the future, for mmorpg players, developers and the whole community, not just for SOE's reputation. I doubt anyone will be forgetting this any time soon, and I know I certainly learned some things from it.

Unfortunately, this changes the game from an MMORPG to an MMOFPS game. Like there aren't enough of those out there already.

The little I have played of it, I like.

Tow things that I don't:

1) No place for hybrids

2) Being forced to remain the same prof with the only way to change is by rerolling.

If we are going to be an EQ2 clone, then give us more than one char per server as in EQ2

I just became Master Armorsmith a couple of months ago, and I've loved it! I would have loved to have done it before the first CU, to see the complexity of it all.

I've been on the test centre to have a look at how armorsmith will come out of this, in short I don't think we will. As yet I've not seen any decay on items including weapons and clothes.

To get hides it looks like they will be a loot drop itemand looks totally random. I must have killed 50+ rills fortheir hides, and I looted about 3 sets

If we could only getSOE & LAto change a couple of things before this thing goes live, then this could be the start of a beautiful friendship

I'm going to stick with it for now and see if anything changes if not I'll respec and try something else (again).

Or are we going to stop this crappy new CU? what are our options to stop this?

1. You can't stop it.

2. The only impact you can have is to cancel your account, however, even if enough people do that all that would do is end the game.

3. Maybe if you bought the latest expansion and then was bushwached by this CU there is room for complaint either to a StateAttorney General for a bait and switch law violation or there are grounds for a private lawsuit.

As far as I can see that's it. Personally, I wouldn't bother. Basically people can either like the new game or quit. SOE has a track record of blowing off the desires of current customers; especially when you start talking CU's. They bledpaying customers due to the last CU. Looking at the interface you can see that this is the upgraded needed to get this game ported to X-box and the like. That means this is really the "Christmas Sales" upgrade. They are looking to capturea new customer baseat X-mas time. Whether or not they will be a sustaining base for this game becomes an interesting argument. Regardless, IMO the CU support at SOE has more to deal with forth coming holiday sales than it does with anything else.

You know, it hit me last night: This clandestine development of the NGE is probably why the creatures in the current game are generic "angry bags." Why waste developer resources on detailed creature characteristics if it was all going to be scrapped in six months anyway?
