yep it seems there is a certain logic to some of the choices made.

some area's neglected "why bother"

some areas improved "pet skills = keep ch here playing = but it was really the first step in the AI revamp"

Expansion "was already in the works and why waste time changing things on it juststring people along and get they're money before the changes"

I have said this many times of late but I really do hope that someday a dev or soe employee walks into a job interview and discovers the person interviewing him/her was one of the customers who wasignored and lied to here. I would pay a small fortune to se the look on the persons face whe told "don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out"

Another way of putting it would be I hereby refuse to listen to lies and deal with the dumbing down of a game so that pre-pubescent ritalin munching brats can jump on a PS3 or an XBox 360 and get in 5 minutes what it took me nearly 2 years to accomplish.

This whole thing, in additon to the removal of decay is really a shame. I have played all the other crafting systems in level/loot based games and they all suck. The problem is there is no demand for crafted goods because they're eaither inferior to the high end loot or they're more expensive and unpractical to bother with. This was especially true in WoW .... A game I quit recently after having peaked out at level 60 (the max). That's the drawback of level based games is they lose their appeal once the top is achieved. SWG never had that problem because there was no top. SWG's only REAL issue was lack of content or direction. The original combat system was really brillient and a work of virtual art. The only thing that rivaled it was the outstanding crafting system in SWG. If decay had been more strict the nwe wouldn't have had so much overstock flooding the servers. And players wouldn't bother making their own gear and then dropping the class just to avoid paying for it later, because these items would have decayed through use.

It's sort of sad, because I don't see why they can't add the element of "high end loot" and still keep crafters as a valuable comodity. Instead of having wicked armor drop off a boss type creature or NPC, have a wicked schematic drop. Then players can have their "high end schematics" created for them. Instead of having these unique and cool items be destroyed upon total decay, have it return to schematic form. Then the player hasto have it made again. For the sake of making it fun, allow for some unique itemsto be required in place of the now useless 'bio enhanced' portion in the subcomponents. This way there is still an element of high adventure in getting one's gear crafted.

Now to keep unique items from being mass harvested, make them non usable except to the one who looted it; like a marker that identifies the only qualified user by name. This way the item can still be traded for the sake of repairs or recreation, but except to the owner would be junk.

And if the DEVS are worried about a lack of crafters handling the load, then allow all character tobe a Trader or Entertainerclass in addition to their combat class. i mean really, it stand to reason that some experienced in the ways of combat might actually know how to make those fine and specialed weapons and armor themselves. This is not uncommon in the real world so why should it be in the game world.

I can't for the life of me understand why such a cool and cleverly designed gameconcepts left to collect dust for 2 years while areas of the game that worked fine cept for a few bugs were rehashed and reimagined to an inferior system. I mean all we really needed since BETA was just some kind of quest system or base system to give us a reason for the opposing factions to engage in pvp, other than self gratification.

I mean this new game might be great ... but it's goingto be implemented to a game with inferior graphics and design to several other games out there. The stongest point in SWG was it's complexity.

You get the sense that they break the unique aspects of the game, rehash combat for the 3rd time and may still fall flat on their face? I really think between the specific devs sitting in Texas, SOE bosses in one spot in CA while LucasArts bosses elsewhere in CA we have the classic "too many cooks spoil the broth" syndrome.

They wasted tons of resources, time etc to revamp some very specific professions the last few months all for what? To just remove them now? That tells me one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.

With that said however, I'm hoping they don't fall flat on their faces and we end up with something decent and palatable with this NGE.

as in all buisnesses, the NGE is too far along to do anything but complain about. maybe when they first started, but they got boxes of games waiting to be put on the shelves. They wont scrap all the dough they put into this because we dont like it. They simple dont give a crap about the existing customers, they need more new clients/profits. Simple as that.

Having played this newest version of SWG-NGE I can attest to the thought and care that went into the entertainer profession.

Entertainer is a "social" profession. We must needs speak with our "clientele", develop a rapport, engage in banter, in essence entertainer the parton. The dev team bent over backwards insuring an ease of use for all things entertainer.

To speak you must hit enter first or you can press the Alt key and then move the cursor to the chat line in the chat window so that you can begin to type. This will lead to much banter between the patron and the entertainer.

The flourishes are so effortless, as long as you want to do the same flourish over and over again, as they are bound to your mouse button when you select the flourish. You can still type the flos out by pressing enter then /flo + #.

Selecting a patron is easy as pie. Just make sure you aren't moving and they aren't moving and no one gets inbetween you while you are attemtping to select. You can press enter and then type /target + name.

You can run a macro to do your flourishes for you. You will then free up your hands to go through the steps necessary to speak.

And if you move you will stop in mid-flo - no need to wait for a flourish to end to be able to move. I believe this was done to help us get out of the way of the tomatoes that are pitched at us.

Oh, and don't forget the throngs of players streaming into the cantinas to make use of our services. I'm so glad that enteratiner was mentioned to me as someone to seek outduring my smuggler tutorial.

The reengineering aspect of shipwright is a excellent way to combine loot with crafting to create high-end items. I'd love to see that developed for other professions, but we won't see that now.

That's what everyone said about the CU. "They put too much work into it to scrap it." And guess what? They're scrapping it!

LOL...

And what is more funny than anything is people like Dwiggz, who defended the CU to the hilt, and said it was the best thing to ever happen for the game, are not at all upset to see the CU go away completely. I guess it turns out they didn't believe their own claims after all.

Your post summed up what I've been trying to say very well. Shame to see them spend so much time on stuff that's being deleted...AGAIN. You question if one hand knows what the other is doing, I'll go a step further. The hands don't know what they are doing individually, let alone what the other is doing at this point.

The combat side of it I consider fun, however. I tested it out, and do like it. What I don't like is that about 60-70% of the people I passed by were Jedi characters in training. They had the opportunity when making such sweeping changes to the game to get rid of the Jedi class like they should have, or at least bring permadeath back, from PvP deaths. Make some kind of risk for these Jeedai who insist on ruining continuity, and my Star Wars feel.

I think the only possible way to "fight" the many terrible decisions being made in the NGE would be to start a movement of mass cancellations. Even people who think they'll probably stick around after the NGE should be encouraged to cancel. They'd still be able to keep playing until their current subscription runs out, and at that time they could start back up again, however if a very sizable chunk of the playerbase cancelled over the course of the next two weeks, it would send a message SOE management couldn't ignore.

On a different topic, if I ran another MMOG, I'd say that right now would be a perfect opportunity to offer a free download and free one-month trial. There's never been a better time than now for stealing away SWG's playerbase.
