Thread: BE Stim D Prices

See - this is my problem. If I go by the rates that other BE's on other servers are charging then I get accused of trying to undercut all the BE's on my server.

If i charge the prices that the other BE's on my server charge, then I'm accused of price gouging. I can't win

IMHO Dor, charge whatever you want to. Especially if you get the resources yourself. Only you can decide what your time is worth. I personally think the economy is inflated anyway. What better way to deflate it then by selling cheaper than the other guys. Besides, honestly, you can't fill out every order you get. Can you? I'm sure there will be enough business for all. I personally like competition.

Customers want to find amerchant with stock. For most customers theimportant thing isnot wasting their time hopping from empty vendor to empty vendor. I get much more grief when Im out of stock then when I price higher to keep somestock on my shelf. People know Im more expensive - but they also know that I will have top quality meds and available stock.

It's not a matter of price gouging - its supply and demand. My advice is to find a price where you can balance supply and demand. Also remember its easier to lower prices than to raise them.

I am selling my stim D's with pre-CU comps at 10K per stim and with post-CU comps at 8K per stim b/c they won't have nearly as many charges.

This price is set based on the following:

  • bloodfin has very high prices normally

  • i looked on the market and did a vendor search and this is comparable to what the only other seller is charging and what others have mentioned (do not undercut your fellow BE)

  • my master doc/master CM friend is going to sell them directly to his friends for 50% of the cost (maybe more if I use his old stuff). I asked him if they thought 8K was too expensive and he asked them and then laughed and said 'they think it's cheap'.

10k sure isa fairfair price

I couldnt supply Pre CU Stim'Es at 4-5kfast enough, and now they double or trippled the componentns needed. You need a lot of factories to push out enough Stims I guess..

seems I'm gonna convert my doc crafter to BE and start the factories again to see how the demand is....

Right now I charge between 12 and 15k and I can't keep them in stock. If I can't keep them in stock, then that is a fair price. I figure Stims will have less use than they used to. With that I mean, can only be used once a minute, not as fast as I caqn click like it used to be. More groups and probably most with medic/doc/CM, then you probably need stims less. So the return of customers for stims will be fewer and farther between. So, there is again a fine balance, just like in a real business. Now, when my business slows and my stockpile rises...I lower my prices to attract them back, and I travel around to see what others are charging. People have restocked converted stims for the same price as before the CURB, Stim D's for 6-8k...and they heal for max of 600, mine do 1200+ right now.....I think I am in the ballpark. And of course, that is just my $.02, thanks for listening.

I figured the costs for me, and added a nice profit, and set my price at 5k per stim. They are selling quite nicely at this price too.

I agree, if you can undercut, then do it, why not. I could easily undercut the hell out of everyone on my server, as I already have the most powerand charges (I'm 99% sure of this), but I decided on a happy medium of 12k per pack. There are still many others who sell them for 14k-15k per pack.
Even at 12k per pack I'm havinga hard time keeping my vendor stocked, and I just went "live" with these stims two days ago. I've already sold near 900 of them (as of this morning). It is a supply and demand world. If you can sell it for X price, and people will buy it (and it isn't too outrageous where customers are complaining), then do it!
Also, regarding pricing, I use an application I built for myself (if anyone is interested in this, letme know - you'll need the .NET environment on your machine). It just takes the cost of the resources and spits out a number based on how much of a profit margin I want (I always shoot for 75% to 100%). That old method of power * charges * blah just isn't cost effective in my mind.
Another thing, regarding the "doubling of components", that poster was right. Stimpack E's used to be3 ABEC, 1 ACRDM, 1 ALS. And I used to sell them for 5k-6k each, and they sold well. However the new D's require 2 ABEC and 2 ACRDM. I'm sorry, but that is a HUGE trade off. You're basically taking away an ABEC that might cost 180 credits (5cpu * 18 * 2)to make and adding a ACRDM that costs 1280 credits to make (75cpu * 16 + 5cpu * 16). Believe me, I'd rather it stay at 3 ABEC and 1 ACRDM. You also have to consider that the new D also requires Tatooine Fiberplast, which is always sold at a premium because it is needed in ABEC. Now we must use that for the stimpack as well, lowering our manufacturing potential.

I had some 26 charge, 1243 heals stim D's made with pre-nerf components. I sold out of all but the singles in one day charging 20k per pack and I think there is 1 or 2 singles left.

I paid for the finest ingredients and you cannot make a stim with over 1200 heal with post-CU components. I paid over 200 cpu for the meats alone. I won't be selling these higher powered ones, and will settle for 12k per stim for the almost 1200 power ones I can make with post-cu components.
