Here's one thing to think about for those charging really high prices and attributing it to meat cost.
If you are buying really really primo herbivore meat at 100cpu vs buying mediocre herbivore meat at 10cpu, you will likely get around a 10 pt higher boost out of your stims. That is not even a 1% increase in power, yet it is adding 1500cr to the price of each stim that you make. Personally, if I were in the stim manufacturing business, I'd love to be competing against someone who made stims that were 10 pts higher in power then mine, but 1500cr per stim (or 75k/crate) more expensive or if you were marking that up 100% that's 3k more per stim, or 150k more per crate.

Ah, but this brings us to the perceived value, Arthur. I know people will pay more for a +19 tissue than they will for a +15 even though with the +25 cap they will still need 2 items with the mods....like the UD/TN or the MD/RD's.
We all saw the same thing with the buffs pre-CU...people paying 2-4k for buffs that were just a couple hundred points higher. No real ifference except a perceived difference or advantage. And we all know how chefs do not wantBSN's lower than 86, even though an 85 is less than 1% lower....again no major difference.
People will pay more for a stim with 1200 healing than they will for a stim with 1150, because they see 1200 not 1100.

Yes, but you are comparing consumables with non-consumables, and you are comparing differences of 5% with differences of 0.1 %

I know this, you know this....the problem is most players don't see it.

I imagine most of them see it....its just that so many of them don't care. As an example, here's a quotefrom one of my customers in response to my question about what sort of stims I should produce (1100+/22 stimD's, 1200+/37+ D's or 1300+/18 D's)....
Maximum power... I dont care about charges or cost, just keep me alive for an extra couple of seconds please.
And he's far from the only one as eventually I was able to produce all 3 and the 1200+ and 1300+ stims outsell the 1100+ (which are a lot less expensive) so long as any of the pre-nerf stims are available. I imagine these same people will be willing to pay even more than 10k a pack once the pre-nerf stuff is gone and we'll have to use Janta Blood or looted ALSs to get those results. I can see them paying 20k for anything above 1300 power/20 charges. These are the same people who were paying obscene amounts of money for Janta enhanced StimB's before the CU.
So it goes.

Doctor was the 1st profession I mastered (Aug/Sept '03) and I have spent a ton of time and creds to collect the resources needed for these components, clothing attachmente (which unless I mis-read, don't work atm), etc. etc.,.. do i feel bad charging 15k for these stim D's?... not at all. As a Doc i have been a part of many threads dicussing what is and is not fair to charge for buffs.. this thread is not different.... bottom line is supply and demand...the schematics or the resources for these components will run out some time and when that happens... people will be up in arms about not supplying good stim packs...so, i say make your creds while you can and don't feel bad about charging for your time & expense spent to gather, craft, manufacturer, maitenance for harvs, factories, houses (storage), vendors, etc., etc,....
This is not a flame what so ever, just my .0025 credits worth..
