I find that an interesting statement as someone who is just coming into this profession...
I've been gone all weekend and haven't been back to reply, but just so y'know, I've been playing a rangersince 6/04 I believe. I haven't posted anything on this boardagainuntil recently due to the fact that I went on a short Hiatus to do some writing. Check my past posts to see how long I've been on before you accuse a vet of being a noob next time please.

I don't have much money (1.5 million most of which is from space and selling metal from my harvester) because a) I give a lot to new players and b)I practically give my resources away to crafters who reciprocate with goods. I am on good terms with both an armorsmith and a chef (who I supply with milk). I've found that cultivating relationships with crafters is more rewarding than diving in to the credit chase.

No, not that I know. But, there is a website which hosts all current resources for each server, including stats. The higher the stats, the higher the price of the resource. Check: http://www.swgcraft.com

Unfortunately the information on that site is only as good as the last update, so confirm it's listings. They are often out of date.

I'll confim this. I was checking for two servers last week. Tarquinas was very much up to date, but Tempest hadn't been updated for nearly 3 months.

.....I failed to mention it is a great site....I dont want to slight them for not being up to date. The simple fact that they even exist deserves praise. What I should have said is that they require user input, so they are at the whim of players.

I think the user effort on Kettemoor is pretty good.
Btw with the earlier poster, the higher the stat is is really a poor standard to measure the value of a resource. Resources don't have a fixed value. It often depends on what else is available and on the target crafter purchaser. A website that uses player input to judge value is going to show very distorted information. All you'd need to do is put artificially low values to change the average value of a resource.

This is absolutely true. Major props to whoever it is that even thought of having a site like that in the first place. They've saved my butt when crafting many a time.

Ok, after reading the Shipwright subforum, I was dumbfounded to read that good resources in the 900's can go for 25 to 30 cpu. Who the heck is getting these kinds of prices and what idiots are buying resources for that amount?
I rarely buy resources, prefering to mine my own. However, when need arises, I sometimes make some purchases but have always laughed and walked away from anyone charging 10cpu. I also occassionally sell my leavings on the market for 3cpu.
Am I letting myself undersell?

I severely doubt that they are buying them for that. On nearly every server the average shipwright is lucky to get 5 - 10cpu for their crafted goods, with 5cpu being a fairly good return.
Sell them for what you feel is the best price seems to be the way to go.

I used to sell resources from 1 to 1.5 cpu. I did an experiment and sold high grade poly rad with one stat over 900 for 1cpu (which no one ever uses expect shipwrights)...Found the same people who bought itthenreselling it for 3cpu. So even if people don't spend any time getting the resources they still feel justifiedin marking some thing up by 300% just because they had the money to buy it.
I no longer sell resources as their prices are being artificially inflated.

I mine my own resources 90% of the time I used to store these in nice neat stacks in my crafting shack but when JTL came along I had to move to vendor storing as the volume I was stockpiling was too high this then moved to a public resources vendor in my cities mall
I now put my resources up for sale at the price I know I can replace them(2-2.5cpu) as my theory being if I am not currently crafting with that particular stack of ore/metal whatever then its better being available to someone that can use it(I then have the cash in my pocket to go replace said resource as n when needed)
