Thread: Know what the problem with BE's is?

Sorry Talthazar, but you as a correspondant should provide feedback from the community to the devs and vice versa; and I don't know how you would expectzero ranting given the poor state of the profession, and the continous dissappointments we have faced as new systems are introduced in the game and Bio-Engare left out.
I have read the first post on this thread several times. In no way I would say that it is a "devs suck" post as you put it, and I find it offensive that you qualify it as such. The post brings a very valid issue: there are CL10 versions of all 6 mounts spawning in the wild, whilst Bio-Engineers are limited to a duck or a vulture (as a customer told me)
You have yet to ackowledge that this is acritical issue you have brought up to devs attention. Probably since you are a MCH too, you don't really feel the pain of other Bio-Engineers.
I'm sure my punishment for this post will be to have a holocron tell me one day I must master Bio-Engineer. ![]()

Satan?

Someone with a really twisted sense of humor?
All jokes aside:
Yes there are cl10 creatures of mounts out there. I've seen lesser bols, dewbacks, etc. being ridden by non-ch. This is what I was afraid of when we didn't get the clone changes. Once again the pet market is dominated by CH. How canwe compete in the non-ch market when there are only 2 selections.
One bad developer couldn't cause the kind of neglect (Chiagra? Milk?) that we've seen, it takes a concerted effort.
We need sellable pets. 90 percent of all pets the CH uses are CH tamed.CH's have no desire to buy our pets. They aren't any good. Dev has no desire to change that.... That is the issue.

Actually, I was more responding to Greenstock's post that seemed to say the CH nerf was already in and all these new creatures were in.
As to the rest, I don't believe the CH dev has ever provided first hand info to the CH's. It's all come through others as has the information here. Most of the dev posts on the CH board have been through the correspondent there as is the case with all professions. Most of the red name posts on the CH board lately have been to talk about the upcoming nerf. Honestly, I don't see how anyone can say CH's get some kind of favoritism when the attention they keep getting is a toning down in response to the almost daily nerf CH threads created by everyone else. And saying the Devs want everyone to become a CH makes absolutley no sense when they are nerfing CH to make it less attractive to dabblers. Where exactly is the logic in that?
Have we had a lack of information lately? Yes, we were without a correspondent for almost a month and that is where most of the dev feedback is supposed to come from.We have also not had major nerfs in the works that had to be explained to us. TH is working on feedback for ALL the professions and we should see that soon. I've tried to avoid these threads for the most part, because devs suck posts are little more than giving into despair and frustration and generally don't make sense from a rational standpoint. That said, I do understand the desire to vent once in a while. Cloning isn'tlive because it is a big system and Keldarin had already told us way back when it was not going to be a simple fix. That's why it's not gone in yet, not because he doesn't care.
Agreed! You should all just stop complaining. I'm tired of it. It's good to talk constructively about our profession but if you can't make it work.. don't play BE.
I made 7 million on mounts the day they were realeased. I'm not complaining.
LOL!
Muff that cracks me up and this is why. Its PLAY MONEY!!!!![]()
Its worthless and believe it or not, not everyone is driven by the amount of play money they make. Some people play games to be entertained, not aggrivated out of their skulls.
You can't make this profession work without help from the devs. You're getting no help from them and you haven't for a long time. Is it any wonder people complain?
When people stop complaining, that's when you really need to worry. Its means people don't care anymore and have left the game.

Well, I'm not saying we don't have problems. Lord knows we do. I understand the need to vent, but the negativity on this boardhas beenoverwhelming the last few days. However, telling people to talk nice or don't play isn't the answer either. The communication has been poor, no doubt, but TH is trying to change that. I just brought you a lot of info from Keldarin but it seems the real problem is the only thing anyone wants to know is when. TH is working on answers to our Top 5 now and we'll have his response to those issuessoon.
Heh, someone said I'm starting to sound like a Dev already. Not sure I agree, just someone who has enjoyed being a part of this board and wants to see it go back to the enjoyable place to visit it used to be. Right now it's a place to go to feel even more frustrated. I know we want to know when these changes are going to hit, but I don't have an answer yet I can give you. Let's face it, the last thingweneed here is a promise that has any chance of being broken. All I ask is for everyone to take a breath and have just a little more patience. Communication will get better.
i agree, Talth.
i dont enjoy coming to the boards and feeling more frustrated, but i cant tell anyone they dont have a right to be angry, mainly because i think we all have a right to be angry about this. every time i log on to visit the BE forum i still hope i will see a meaningful post from Kel telling us something we dont already know.
it seems to me you have been doing everything within your power to keep the info flowing both ways, but it seems ridiculous to me to do a top 5 issues list right now. its almost funny. nothing has changed in almost 2 months, why would our top 5 issues be any different now?
That's a good point, SOF- what's so magic about this top5 list? We KNOW what the top5 issues are. We're the ones who told TH what they are. In fact, we told him twice because once apparently wasn't good enough.
So when he goes and makes a list of them all and regurgitates them back to us, what exactly are we supposed to feel? Inspired by his mastery of copy/paste?
We only have one issue. Any that's that we don't know when cloning will be fixed. Which means we don't know IF cloning will be fixed. It's not that we don't trust them, but we all bought a box off a shelf in a store somewhere that Sony Corporation told us was a finished product. And that was a lie.
First impressions matter.
So do second ones, and third ones, and all the other ones.
And until they start making positive impressions, these boards will stay negative. These boards are a reflection, nothing more. You'll note that the tone in this particular forum was much happier after the tissue fixes went in. We could all craft petstims without getting RSI. Tailors sought us out, Chef's laughed at the resource requirements for a 20% duration bonus, people actually took an interest in our existence. We were willing to forgive the lack of cloning fixes. This forum only drifted seriously negative when it became obvious that there were no cloning fixes in the patch after the tissue fixes.
We're not some incomprehensible mob. Our wants are very simple to understand, and we only get angry when we feel lied to or cheated.

When the CH balancing does go in, yes this will be true. The problem with CH is not the Master CH. Trust me, as a MCH with no combat skills what-so-ever, CH by itself is underpowered not overpowered. The problem is the dabbler that goes 3/2/0/0 and has access to the best tank in the game - the graul mauler. That's what's changing. What isn't true is the now part. The only new creatures added this patch were non-ch mount pets. For the life of me, I can't understand why the nerfing of CH's is seen as continually loving from the devs?
But an MCH with no combat skills is a silly thing to consider when trying to make balance decisions. MCH takes so few skill credits that you can get it and master pistoleer as well. Or master smuggler. Or climb the flamethrower line in commando. Or get TKM. It all comes down to math. Creatures do miniscule damage because PC's have miniscule hitpoints. PC's do massive damage because creatures have massive hitpoints. So when two creatures fight, it takes forever because they do miniscule damage and have massive hitpoints. That's why CH's are so powerful - because a creature can take a very long pounding from an opponent that's been scaled to kill a PC, all the while you're blasting away with a weapon that's been scaled to kill a creature. This is obvious, and yet it managed to escape the people in charge of reviewing the design of this game.
Another interesting thing about CH is that it is completely different from, and can be used at the same time as, some other combat skill. No one worries about l33t d00dz going out and combining carbine with pistol, for example. That's not an uber combination because you can't use both at the same time. So if you've mastered both pistoleer and carbineer, then at any given moment you're wasting77 skill credits (because you're not using one of those weapons). Your carbine accuracy does not help you hit with your pistol, and that uber carbine in your pack does you no good when there's a pistol in your hand.
But if you've mastered pistoleer and CH at the same time, then you can use both at once. So if they sat down and said, "CH should be as powerful as pistoleer," which they probably did, then they've actually made the CH/pistoleer combination twice as powerful as either one alone. This is the source of their frustration - they want to make CH a viable stand-alone class, but when they do that, they make combinations involving CH way more powerful than combinations not involving CH.
For the life of me, I can't understand why they think that the "profession" is a meaningful way to divide players up. It's fine for crafters, but every fighterI know has more than one profession. Even Bounty Hunters take some medic. They think this is EQ or something...the reason I was attracted to this game was that it was NOT EQ. I HATE a rigid character class system. Skill credits are so much more fun because you can create interesting combinations. But when they try to balance the combat professions, they will inevitably create combinations that are more powerful than either of their component parts. That's the nature of a skill-credit system. They designed such a system on purpose...they should stop fighting it so much.
