Thread: Know what the problem with BE's is?
I was recalling SOE mentioning that there would be non-ch versions of all mounts and that they would be tamable or makable by BEs.
Today on dant I saw some of the CL 10 bols for non-ch's and it occured to me, the CH Dev is on the ball and taking care of business, the BE dev just plain sucks and doesn't seem to give a crap about BE's.
We (CH's) get feedback from our dev all the time, but when I browse the BE or DE forums I hardly see any feedback.
Thats the problem with BE's in a nutshell, the dev just doesn't care about the profession like the CH dev seems to care about CH's.

(oh, and yes, I realize by posting in it, I'm essentially bumping it back to the top) :-D
Hehe Delbon... you are on the roll...
BTW who is not a CH?
dev is not going to do anything that will tick off CH's.
The CH nerf that was coming, it went. Actually Masters are stronger now not weeker. They can no tame higher level pets that have just been introduced.
dev could loose all the BE's and not be out much. Trust me, that is how they look at it.
dev is not going to do anything that will tick off CH's.
Youthink the upcoming nerf isn't going to tick off any CH's?

Not quite sure what you mean. It didn't go away, nor has it been implemented yet, it's still going inat a future time as far as I know.

When the CH balancing does go in, yes this will be true. The problem with CH is not the Master CH. Trust me, as a MCH with no combat skills what-so-ever, CH by itself is underpowered not overpowered. The problem is the dabbler that goes 3/2/0/0 and has access to the best tank in the game - the graul mauler. That's what's changing. What isn't true is the now part. The only new creatures added this patch were non-ch mount pets. For the life of me, I can't understand why the nerfing of CH's is seen as continually loving from the devs?
Actually Tal, I read the original post a bit differently than you seem to have. It also seems the major point of the original post was totally overlooked.
The creature handler fix is up and coming. There will be non-creature handler version of all the mounts available (which we don't make). And The creature handler dev provides feedback to creature handlers. I can't remember the last time a dev actually provided first hand information to us. I can only imagine what those poor people who play chef must see on there forum.
I realize the ratio ofbio-engineers to creature handlers is something close to 1:100 and there are even fewer that have taken this profession without being instructed to do so by a blue cube. And yes, I alsorealize that if BE totally went away there would be a mild cough and the game would keep rolling on unperturbed. That doesn't mean the money we pay to play this gameisn't worth the same as those who play theother working professions.
Should we all finally quit playing BE and chef and just become creature handlers like everyone else? Seems to me that is exactly what SOE wants us to do.
Holocron pushed the Creature stuff, he was never happy with the way it came out in UO and he come into this project to do that right. He pushed it so hard that it became the game.
I would take this thread a step further though. I wouldn't necessarily say that the CH dev is better than the BE dev, because I suspect they are one and the same!
We KNOW for a fact that there are only a few profession devs for the game. Each dev handles 7 or 8 professions. It would make sense for the CH dev to be the same as the BE dev as both would have to have a grasp on the code for creatures.
Unfortunately, it's painfully obvious that CH take higher priority than BE, so that is where all of his time is being spent. If CH were completely done, and working, then we might actually see something DONE here. Since they are completely revamping the CH class, though, for the next major patch, I seriously doubt we will have anything fixed before then. In fact I really and truly don't think we will be fixed until next year. Not in time for the next patch, at the least.
Personally I'm saying the hell with it, and dropping it for now to explore other professions as soon asI finish one last run of pet stims. Can always grind back up again later, right? ![]()
If you are going to drop the profession as I asume many people will if nothing changes in the next big patch I recommend you master the profession first. It may be the key to your FS slot if you care about such things.Obviously this whole Jedi slot thing is based on professions and nothing else. I say this because if it were based on something else it would make sense your holo box would say run such and such a quest instead of becoming master image designer.
I must say I hate that lame-o excuse that our dev can't ever talk to us because BE isn't the only profession they work on. Is it too much to ask for a monthly "state of the professions I work on" address from a dev? It doesn't even have to be anything detailed. I'd be thrilled to know we actually have a dev working on our profession because as it stands I'm not so sure we do.
Actually, I was more responding to Greenstock's post that seemed to say the CH nerf was already in and all these new creatures were in.
As to the rest, I don't believe the CH dev has ever provided first hand info to the CH's. It's all come through others as has the information here. Most of the dev posts on the CH board have been through the correspondent there as is the case with all professions. Most of the red name posts on the CH board lately have been to talk about the upcoming nerf. Honestly, I don't see how anyone can say CH's get some kind of favoritism when the attention they keep getting is a toning down in response to the almost daily nerf CH threads created by everyone else. And saying the Devs want everyone to become a CH makes absolutley no sense when they are nerfing CH to make it less attractive to dabblers. Where exactly is the logic in that?
Have we had a lack of information lately? Yes, we were without a correspondent for almost a month and that is where most of the dev feedback is supposed to come from.We have also not had major nerfs in the works that had to be explained to us. TH is working on feedback for ALL the professions and we should see that soon. I've tried to avoid these threads for the most part, because devs suck posts are little more than giving into despair and frustration and generally don't make sense from a rational standpoint. That said, I do understand the desire to vent once in a while. Cloning isn'tlive because it is a big system and Keldarin had already told us way back when it was not going to be a simple fix. That's why it's not gone in yet, not because he doesn't care.

I know you believe that Tal, but frankly we've been let down twice now by our so-called designer. The way I look at it is this. Within the space of a month they fixed ONE of our bugged clones and left the rest broken, in the space of 6 months we have had the same bugs that existed back in beta, in the space ofTWO months we have seen mounts and player cities and such addedwhich far exceed the complexity of a new CL rating and cloning system... and what havewe seen from our glorious designer? Broken promises and half facts.
You find my lack of faith disturbing?**edit** right, and it's the result of this constant neglect. If the bio-eng designer did actually care about our profession he'd have sorted out as many minor bugs as possible during their Friday bug busting sessions that was mentioned a long time ago. Sure he has alot to do, but if I looked at a list of minor bugs for the professions i was dealing with I'd give attention to the profession which has suffered the most.
Expect to see it soon?
Not to sound too bad Tal, but I'll believe it when I see it. There have been too many flase promises, too many "coming soon" things for me to personally buy it any more. TH said it was gonna be this weekend. He bailed on his responsibility to play. Great he should play, but he should also be aware there are people PAYING to play that have been waiting for this info for MONTHS. They talk about balance and wanting to make all the professions equal in the economy, but then shaft us again with the non-ch mount wild babies. I like the game. I WANT them to fix the game. I think this game could still yet be one of the funnest MMORPG out there, but the devs need to COMMUNICATE to the players. Plain and simple. If most of the posts on the CH stand are form the correspondant, then they need to lighten up on you and let you give us the information we want. I really hope this isn't another false promise from SOE....I really do...
Tal,
I can't comment on whether the CH dev comments more in the CH forum because I don't go there often. I do look once in a while but its usually cursory. I was just wondering why your first post was just about the CH nerf and not about BE issues. The CH nerf is meaningless to me. Its not going to make those novice creature handlers say "gee I've been nerfed so I guess I should become a BE." I'll bet money those dabblers will still dabble.
My logic for saying we should all become creature handlers applies to BE's. If SOE wanted us to stay BE's they wouldn't have made all the mounts available to creature handlers and only 4 of them available to us. They wouldn't have made non-creature handler versions of all the mounts available to creature handlers either. I don't know if there really are non-creature handler versions of all the mounts but it wouldn't surprise me.We must have a creature handler train our animals to be useful. We can not make an animal that can be used by anyone without a creature handler. I read a number of comments regarding the pet trick mind heal. Since each trick only heals a certain percentage of mind it might make our pet meds more valuable.I tested this last night. I let my pet tank and its mind was very low. Pet trick 2 twice in a row and wham...totally healed. No timer delay. No major mind drain on me. Sampling DNA is a huge mind drain. The pet trick mind heal fix is completely meaningless. If SOE wanted us to stay BE's pets would have to be healed by pet meds. A creature handler can use one animal to tank. If it gets too beat up just put it away and call the next one. It heals in storage. A creature handler with med skills can make their own people stim packs and use them on their pets for very little cost. I can go on and on but you get the idea. Bio-engineers need creature handlers infinitely more than they need us.
If this isn't good enough logic to give up BE and become a creature handler I don't know what more you need. And I repeat, if SOE wanted us to remain BE's they would have done things differently.

Well, they get mounts, they get new creatures, they get their tree "fixed" so that masters pet handling abilities are now "super-powered" relative to everyone else's. For the "real" CH it is difficult not to like this change it would seem.
