Thread: Trying to bring a little sanity to a board that is rapidly becoming an un-fun place to be

Don't worry about it getting ugly in here, MTDewback.

If it gets ugly, then at least we still care. If it gets quiet and apathetic, that's when people are leaving this profession in droves.

Actually Tal-N is a great exxample of this... (sorry you are a good example fro this ) on the Commando board, Tal-N is a great poster, with thoughtful and insightful commentary on the state of the profession.

Here it is all flame and doom (even in this thread). Commandos ahve a ton of stuff that is busted.. And now you are butting heads with the long time commandos about what is broken and what is not, the doomsayers and the ranters... Lol you even ahve a post on how the HAR really isn't as bad off as people think...

That's how you look to outsiders here. You are that ranter When anyone says anything postive here, you go negative.

Stuff is broken... nobody can argue that...

But this negativity (by everyone) spill over onto all the posts, not just the "when" posts. The general atmosphere here is "un-fun" and it isn't the developer's fault. The posters have let it grow and fester. Nearly every thread is hijacked by negativism by long-tim BEs.

My internet connection was down for a few days. I missed the post where Keldarin said, "My bad" on the mounts. Anyone have a link for that?

I learned my lesson with SWG. I'll be playing EQ2, but when I choose a class, it will be one that the uber 733t have all gravitated to, due to its 733tness. Never play a class that sounds interesting, or matches your goals in gaming. If it rules in PvP, then that class will have the most population and the most vocal whiners. And SOE will give it the most attention.

Rogue? Hell no. Wizard!

BE? Hell no. CH!

I couldn't disagree with this more. When we thought something was being done to fix us this forum was a very informative place to go. Now we think nothing is being done to fix us and the forum reflects that. They could be working their hinds off trying to fix BE but we have no clue. Patches come out, updates come out, in developement posts are made. Nothing about us.

Giving us no feedback is what has caused the "un-fun" atmosphere here. That IS the developers faults.

Bio Engineering being frustrating and "un-fun" needs little help from any of us, it gets that way well on its own. This lil community is like a pressure cooker, weve been boiling for a long time over these problems and were seeing no sign at all of any changes now or quite possibly ever. The people yelling and making a stink are the same ones whospersonalattitudes are not to take it like a bitch and be rosey no matter what. These are the dogs who if not fed in a long enough time start to tear up the house. We havent been given squat in months, time to piss on the rug and eat the couch, cause being quiet in the corner doesnt do diddly squat. All this can be stopped by one simple paragraph from ANYBODY posting without a blue name. Might as well lock the forum cause its probably gonna be a long weekend.

If all you can say in reply is "well then leave!" then save your breath.

Actually, I can't say I've really seen any "deterioration" on the boards, I really can't. I started playing BE at the beginning of Sept. I loved it at first, and made many positive posts. Every time I posted, I generally got slammed by the "grumpy old timers" saying how I knew nothing, and how dare I say anything positive about such a broken class. I still think that the whining here is a bit out of hand, but I actually find myself now more or less becoming one of those "grumpy old timers" so I can now sympathize a lot better.

It's really difficult to watch this game pass BE's by, and see nothing at all going on with this class as others rack up all sorts of new features and benefits.

That's how you look to outsiders here. You are that ranter When anyone says anything postive here, you go negative.

I'm new to commando so I look at things from a fresh perspective and have utterly no knowledge of things which have come before, the commando players who are there and point blank refuse to accept that it appears the HAR isn't as broken as it seems are the ones who have been in the profession so long they too are frustrated and gotten into a fixed mindset. The fact an outsider can come into the profession and actually see some good in the broken things and some bad in the things which many consider fixed shows that there are two sides of the story and if there are two sides then there is noright or wrongway of looking at it.

Indeed bio-engineering is something I've been involved in for as long as I have known the game, back before pre-release actually. I might have reached the end of my tether with this issue but thats is saying alot now that I have only just gotten to this point, it's taken alot longer than most. Yes, I've turned into one of the harbingers for this forum because I have been here one of the longest times like SOF and Sumo, technically longer since I beta tested BE. So yes I'm negative now because it's being going on for so long, I rant and I moan because it's all I have left to say about the profession until they give us fixes or new things to talk about.

But i pay my 15$ a month and like everyone else I have a right to complain about poor service, in fact it's a right granted by internationaltrading standards. Know your right folks, you have a right to rant when there's just cause.

I'd hold off on that bud, maybe try CH out for a while, come back after christmas and maybe things will have changed a bit.

The general atmosphere here is "un-fun" and it isn't the developer's fault.

That statement is effectively saying that we shouldn't care that we want our profession fixed. It says we have no right to feel ripped off, neglected, ignored, kicked around and generally belittled. It says that the players are the cause for us not enjoying the profession. IT SAYS WE ARE TO BLAME FOR THE STATE OF THE PROFESSION!

Will all due respect... your utterly wrong.

People don't want to feel frustrated and annoyed. People don't pay a subscription fee to come and complain. If there wasn't a serious problem then you wouldn't have a bug list the length of an adults arm, you wouldn't have a groupoffixes that is taking 3 months to complete. I dunno what your experience is with bio-engineering but it's certainly not someone who is concerned with getting enjoyment from the profession, maybe all you care about is making money but for some of us we enjoy the challange of cloning because it's unique. I don't play bio-engineer to see the credits roll in and become an automated stim-production machine, I did it because there was potential for cloning to be about as close to an art form as you get in this game. As it stands, very little we make is actually wanted or needed so it means there is no drive to try harder and certainly no reward if your achieve it.

I want to make something special and see someone enjoy it, that is what frustrates me cause it's not something we are capale of. Saying that the players are the root of the problems on these forums is making it sound like your working for SOE as they have said many times that the players are demanding too much from them.

No, the posts are making it an un-fun atmosphere.. and like all of you like to menton, the devs don't post here.

The dev's lack of response does not hit the "submit button" on the lithium board software.. You all do.

The devs are no more responsible for the way you write, then they are responsible for me writing 5 page posts.

All the ranting, raving, jumping up and down, and yelling is from the posters, nobody else. The devs didn't _make_ you do anything, it is a choice you all made... no matter what the root cause is.

If Keldarin came in here right now and posted "BE's will be hotfixed Sat. morning PST." 90% of you would yell "LIAR!" (He won't btw).

Everyone has seen Holo's slideshow. Never reward the complainers.

You all (in general) have chosen to go past being an honestly damaged profession, into the ranter/ complainer /flamer category. I would be willing to bet that's why you get no answers now.

In all honesty, I wouldn't post here either if I were them. There is no reason to... nothing to gain. it is a better plan to just work on the fixes and let you snipe at each other (or me).

Sometimes I don't know why I bother to come here, it doesn't help me play my BE character at all... Mostly it just makes me sad that people behave like this over a game.

No I don't work for them. No You aren't the reason the profession is broken.

But you are the reason the forum is broken (well Lithium breaks itself... that's soemthing else).

What I want out of BE is actually the cloning (and I'm not a CH on any of my characters BTW).. I love that concept (it is far better then the current DE concept, even broken)... I want to make critters.. Honestly the rest of it doesn't interest me much at all. All I do now is sample and work w/ the broken stuff. No it isn't fun.

No I haven't been doing it nearly as long as any of you.

But I didn't make a post calling for the removal of a Dev.
That's the difference.

That's over the line... That's too much hate for a game.

There is a big gap between stating your dissapontment and frustration, and a huge blaze of hate.

Holocrons exist also. Here is a comparison... I have looted 5 Holocrons. I have looted 0 milk. I know where milk can be gotten... if I want to sit around and loot a trash pile every 30 minutes.

As far as getting out and playing the game to have more fun... yup I do get out and play the game to have fun. But it is never on my BE. Putting resources into a factory to churn out pet stims is only fun the first few times you do it.

--------------

Now... onto Traigus, I take HUGE exceptions with what you're posting.

"The general atmosphere here is "un-fun" and it isn't the developer's fault."

No, it is 100% the fault of the developers. Me, Tal-N, Scorus, (the list goes on and on, no slight to anyone).... we've posted tons to this forum. From fixes, to ideas, to how to's. But ALWAYS in the background has been a nagging feeling... a hearty /rude to the devs for ignoring us. We've had to raise a hurricane of discontent in the past to get any attention... and even then it turned out to be totally empty promises.

Ohhh and lets ask ourselves where ZenLOSER went? The old timers here know who this guy was.... he's gone. 100% the fault of the devs inattention. How about all the other used-to-be-BE's? LONG list there. Heck I was asking yesterady where the author of the Diary of a BE went to.

What exactly is there to be positive about? Why should i put on the Shiny, Happy People Mask?

A full 50% of skill boxes are broken or near meaningless (all of the DNA / Cloning line). Experimentation line (4 boxes, the only benefit being more xp pts) is partially broken because of its involvement in the cloning line. Then the last 4 boxes of tissues have nagging issues SINCE FREAKING RELEASE (milk, eggs, mollusks, seafood, fish).

So don't come in here and tell me to be happy.

There ain't a whole lot to be happy about.
