You know.....you said that in jest but it's actually not that bad of an idea.

Some kind of player 'implant' or cyborg tech, requiring interdependence between DEs and IDs.

I like the idea of implants A LOT. And I agree that it's ripe for some really cool interdependancies between a variety of professions. I can see BEs, Doctors, weaponsmiths, master artisans and ID's having a hand in this for sure.

DEs for mechanical and data-based applications like mechanical arms and computer-based implants like a datapad, targeting computer.

BEs for cool augmentations to muscles and other bio-systems. Even taking genes from wild creatures for use in players.

MA for -- what else? -- EMM, GP and other circuitry.

Doctor for implanting it all, but only with a surgical droid's help!

ID for more superficial stuff, camo-implant for skin and other applications

Weaponsmith for weapon implants like those in a robotic arm.

Very cool idea.

For a bit of info about cybernetic enhancements and prosthetics in Star Wars, you might want to visit the rancorpit.com site.

Well, like most Ideas it seems it fell on deaf ears.

It sounded decently possible.

Performance Enhancing Implants?

I was trolling the DE forum just now, and came across a couple of threads regarding implants, and their applications. I think this could significantly enhance the Bounty Hunter profession.

Consider if you will;

  • An ocular implant, to increase your ranged accuracy.

  • An adrenal implant to increaseyour burst run duration.

  • A communications implant toequip you with a real time uplink to your tracking droids, giving a droid speed bonus.

Nothing over the top, just enough to give you that much needed edge. Advantages of Implants would include the obvious bonuses to the consumer, but it would also give a much needed new source of income to the BE's and DE's.

The wayI see it happening would be similar to the ID tents, only user created. You spend x amount of time in the booth with the BE/Doc (whatever it would be) while theDoc 'Implants' the enhancement. Have a max of3 or so implants per character, kind of like sockets on clothing and armor, make them permanent. Unless you were to change prof's, then you would loose a profession specific implant.

You would havegeneric implants, such as (+ Xto attack bouns),and Profession Specific Implants. And perhaps even have a new class of char personalization, mechanical arms, heads etc...

I can see no feasable reason why not to impliment this into the game. We have Bio-Engineers, we have Droid Engineersandwehave Doctors. And implants have been a part of Star Wars since the beginning (Vader). So why not impliment them in game? I think with our support the DE's might be able to get through to the Devs on this one.

BEs don't really need a new income source, as chefs keep demand high for their little wares.

I posted an idea like this many months ago in the DE forums, when i was a DE. it went something like this:

DE crafts a finsihed product from components made my doctors, droid engineers, and in some cases armor/weaponsmiths.

doctor programs a 2-1b Surgical Droid to do the operation, since normal doctors would be too imprecise for hte operation. Smugglers can slice the apparatus giving you an overload option. when the thing wears out, you can get it repaired by a DE a max of 5 times before it has to be replaced entirely.

I loved the idea and that someoen else thought of it too. But it'll never happen.

It seems like everything will never happen

Performance Enhancing Implants?

I am aBounty Hunter with an alt newb DE. As a bounty hunter I believe that this sort of implimentation could significantly help our severly handicapped combat profession, and add a new levle of character personalization to the game.

Yeah, I've always liked this idea. Further, I'd love to cybernetics introduced. Give my BH a robotic arm for pistol accuracy and speed bonuses.

I think it would be rather interesting to have implants for various body parts, some that enhance HAM, attack, damage, even crafting. Of course, these would have to be really rare, part of a loot from some cave, otherwise everyone would have implants. Or it could take really rare materials to make. But yeah, this would be a nice thing to add to CA and AA.

Heres an idea for implants...

Smuggler, DE, and BE can all make Implants, but each profession makes different ones.

A doctor is required to actually implant them. Probably a similar process to ID.

I KNOW I TOOK FROM NEOCRON! but this system is a good one!
