Thread: crafting tools
You need an advanced crafting tool and you need to be next to a crafting station (either public, private or in a droid). Generic crafting tools don't work for experimentation.
Slim Vargo, Corbantis
The best crafting tool have +15
There is some +14.88 in Helios on Tatooine if you are on Scylla.
If all of the tools your friend makes come out -13 effectiveness they are:
1. Not using "good" materials. Without experimentation my tools come out higher than -13.
2. Not bothering to experiment. Even using mediocre materials it shouldn't be hard for a master artisan to do better than -13.
3. Or they didn't notice that the factor that affects tool quality is Conductivity.
Sounds like you need to find someone else to make your tools for you.

I'm not even a Master Arty [4/4/0/0] but I can make +14.96 effectiveness crafting tools. He just needs a good High Conductivity resource (usually works out to be Copper) and just max out his experimentation. And yes, it does affect your crafting, when you use a certain tool. At smaller levels, it's not so noticeable, but try being a Master Arch. and getting a critical failure on the last step of a major buidling. Sucktastic.

Hi,
Any one can teach me how to make +14.97 crafting tools? What's the resources need?
Freda
You really need to learn how to craft mate. If you knew how to actually craft then just grind then you wouldn't be asking such an obsurd question.
But i'll bite and teach you.....
first thing you need to do is get engineering 4 and domestic arts 4 in artisan. This will allow you 10 experimentation points and give you the tools scematics. You will gain experimentation points along the way but at engineering 4 you will have 5 and get another 5 at domentic arts 4.
now open your general or weapon, droind and general crafting tool. Look on the generic tab the tools should be near the top. Single click on one of the tools that you wish to make (this works for all scematics BTW) your crafting window is divided into 3 sections. the big one on the left shows everything you can make. The right top shows a picture of finished product and the lower right gives you the information that you should be HIGHLY interested in. It will list the different areas on that product that you can experiment on. (note: you can ONLY experiment near a crafting station of the type of tool you are useing. example: if you use a clothing and armor tool you need to be near a clothing and armor station.)
Next if you cannot see any numbers with % after them scroll down in the lower right box. You will see the different areas that you can experiment on. On a crafting tool there is only 1 (effecientcy(spelling?)). Directly under that you will see "conductivity 100%".
This means that the 8 metal 5non-organic and 10 chem all need a very high conductivity to get the best results. Now seeing that chemical does not have a conductivity it doesn't matter any chemical will do. So that leaves the 8 metal and 5 non-organic. I would start by looking at copper to make it. Copper tends to have the highest conductivity in the game. Check the bazzar for a nice 1k lot of a copper of high conductivity ( you don't need that much for tools for yourself but tools over +14.00 tend to resell very well.)and get some chemical too (again any type will do). Next make sure you are near a weapon, droid, and general crafting station (public or private doesn't matter) (A private one with a good + rating will help keep you from getting crit fails). Then useing a weapon, droid, and general crafting tool start making the tool that you want. During the crafting process you will get a screen with 3 selections on it. First is experimentation, second is create the prototype, and third is crate the scematic. Click on experimentation. you will hit a screen that will let you experiment on the product.
If you have engineering 4 and domestic arts 4 you will see on the left side that you have 10 experimentation points. you will seel a bar in the middle and a moving bar on the right. in the upper left section of the window you will see the current details of your product and on the right the picture. down in the middle there is the %bar and under it is the experimentation bubbles. You should only use 1,2,or 3 at a time. That way if you fail it will not be devistating to the tool. Click on say 2 of the bubbles then click on run experiment. You will get a pop up window saying how the experimentation went. If you fail at all you will not get above +14.00. Keep experimenting until you have used all of your experimentation points or have no bubles left. then in the upper left section again you will see how high you got the rating via experimentation. after you are done click on end experiment. then crate prototype.
Wala a brand new tool all made. to get a +14.97 I suspect they used a metal resource that had a 995 or above conductivity rating. I can max my tools at +14.73 with my 991 copper on the server that I play on. The rating on the tools is out of +15 and the ratings on the resources are out of 1000. And yes resources DO get that high. On another server my CM had some polymer that had a OQ of 1000.
Yes, for the simple stuff that doesn't require a crafting station, you can use the weapon, droid, generic item crafting tool. I have used them to make bricks or something if my structure tools are still processing another item. Don't think you can experiment with it though.
correct, it will not let you experiment.
it will also not let you make items that require the structure crafting tool.
