Thread: I found what seems to be up with nocious kahmurrith dna

sad thing about your finding is that there will be swindlers that will now start to take yourresults and exploiting like crazy.
That's the whole point isn't it? When you find an exploit, and keep it to yourself (and exploit it), the exploit continues on, and nobody does anything about it. When you bring it out in the open, it gets fixed, FAST, otherwise people will exploit it.
By the way, I'm quite sure using exploits are against terms of service. I've been in games where people have gotten kicked off the game for using such exploits. This is something people should keep in mind. It's not just about ethics or in-game reputation, there also can be more serious repercussions.
I really hope that when they fix this bug, they do some kind of check on all those already made creatures and rebalance them.. because if they dont, we will have quite a few uber non-CH pets that will either go for millions, or be used to power grind missions and putting a huge imbalance into the game.
For those that are knowingly using the exploit, you are just breaking the game and not considering the impact it will have.
Give them a break, they're on holiday vacation right now. I wouldn't even expect them to acknowledge the exploit until after New Year's Day. And even then, it'll take a few days to figure out a course of action. It'll probably be fixed second week of January.
A forsee a repeat of the "pet trade-in" program that was initiated after the last publish. Instead of bringing creature level down by taking the pet to a handler, creature level will be pumped up based on the creature's overall stats.

for themn to know, they could respond on this since it been talked about a few days at least. but what the hey. just another issue
Well thanks to the person who tipped me off about how this works i managed to reporduce the results people are seeing. The fault appears to lie with the armor and is carried over into the clones somehow. Once a clone contains the bugged code it carries over into anything which contains the dna.
The bug itself is linked directly to experimentation as a matter of fact, there is a point where you can actually break some of the bug itself resulting in an almost normal CL rating. However it's the experimentation that is making the bug itself worse. Here's a look at a first generation result which I actually didn't experiment on.
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311189
The first gen clones used kahmurith snapper dna and the nocious dna. So basically what you have is some CL40ish dna ending up with something around CL18 and CL10. So the first point is... why does that not happen usually? Simple answer, it's not supposed to be doing that. You cannot usually experiment down by around 20 CL ratings. This is also why your seeing stats which are equal to around a CL40 critter.
Second gen is basically 2 normal samples from the 1st gen combined with 3 nocious dna, all your finding here is the bug being amplified further.
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311196
It was when i made a second gen gurrcat using the same method I realised what the bug actually is. Take a look at this:
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewimage.asp?id_=7311204
It seems that the bug is caused by the light armor within the nocious kahmurrith, for some reason it's giving the clone around 30% for all resistances. Don't ask me why, thats.. this is why bugs exist since they're something where the programming isnt working as intended. However once you experiment fortitude high enough the resistances instantly vanish and revert back to looking the same as the nocious kahmurrith in terms of resistances. So somewhere along the line your finding something very wrong happening. Here you can see where the bug takes place.
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311210(step 1)
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311217(step 2)
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311230(there it goes)
..and you end up with something like this:
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311238
..for the sake of being thorough here's what happens when you don't push it. Notice that the CL is really thrown off.
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311212
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311221
..giving you this...
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311243
So it would almost seem that armor instantly adds around an additional 10 CL ratings. So having found what is rising the CL ratings it's possible to really show that this is truely a major bug. Remember how CL2 was the lowest possible rating we could give our clones?
http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=7311256
- CL2
- 9090 health / 4752 action / 4214 mind
- 43% to everything but stun
- 140-150 damage / 2.17 speed / 24% accuracy
So if people STILL thing that this is fair and as intended then I'd love to hear how a CL2 critter should have stats like that. This needs to be fixed, and fixed soon. Also there is a very precise way to produce clones like this, sure it can be stumbled across but the fact is you know how to do it... so don't. The bug is heriditary too so avoid contaminating the legitimate clones with bugged dna.
Now I've tested this with Spined Pucs dna who also have utterly no resistances or vulnerabilities. They don't have armor though and this bug does not persist. I'm sure there is other species which can end up with this kind of odd results but the bottom line is that they NEED to have armor for this to be reproduced it would seem since it's the armor that is causing the problem.
Great info, keep up the good work.
However, I want to let you know that I at least am completely unable to view any images you post at that web site. It hasn't mattered that much for other of your messages, but it's pretty important for this one.

wonder what they'll do with pets like this. just for kicks, i made a cl10 slice hound 6k ham 40% resists for a guildie last night.
It probably depends if they can be identified in the database. If they can, then they will probably either be deleted or modified to a more sane CL level. If that's the case, then BE's who have been making these things should prepare for a firestorm from their customers.
However, if they can't be identified we'll have some unidentified number of game distorting sub CL 10 pets running around.
Anyone else having trouble viewing the pictures? I've copied the public url correctly I know that much. As for what they'll do it's possible for them to simply repeat what has happened before when we could create overpowered clones under the old system with baby dna (it used to have around 6000+ stats for everything). What happened with those is that they added something which checked the default CL of the pet and compared it to the stats. When they were called within the next 3 months they were actually deleted from the server if they were found to be out of line with the intended CL rating. Since this new system has a dynamic CL measuring system I'd imagine that the clones are simply corrected to their actual CL when someone logs in or calls the pet.
Its not possible to delete the clones since they all have unique serial numbers and share those serials with the non-bugged clones as well. One way or another though, now that they know where the bug is occouring they'll be able to pin down the cause and nerf it fast.
I would think that they read the boards if not they dumber then even I would have thought. They know this is going on. They never post much anyway so no supprise they giving us a clue that they even say "yes we know, it will be handled" or "it is working as intended". Just think how long it took them to get this change out to us, now lets see how long them to get it right.
This is crazy lol. I went to dathomir to sample and try to put these together to see if it would work. It did and now I refuse to make it.
Imagine a galaxy where everyone had these types of creatures. Imagine a galaxy full of pissed off creature handlers. Or better yet, imagine a world where current creature handlers decide it's not worth it being a CH.
I kept one for myself of course
lol
I dunno who has been going around one starring most of the posts in here but i think it's only fair to not let whatever narrow sighted induvidual get away with it so I balanced them with a 5 star vote. But i don't think you need to a genuis to know who it is
But anyway there isn't really much the devs can do to correct this issue.
Stop all non-ch pets until it's fixed? Well that wouldn't stop the presence of these animals on the server so it solves nothing.
Stop dna resampling from the clones? That isn't where the problem is occouring, it's perfectly possible to get exploited clones from the 1st generation. The resampling only helps to make the situation worse. So that wouldn't solve anything either.
Delete all pets from the server which are bio-engineered to flush the bugged ones out? Thats going to cause an uproar since you cannot distinguish a bio engineered pet from a wild one once it's tamed except for the fact they usually don't have well rounded resists.
Implant some code to check and correct the stats or CL when they're next called? That is my personal bet, they've done it in the past so it would seem like the best solution.
It probably was intended. Im sure that all the complaining about it will get it nerfed though.
Id like to point out that even if this is a bug, pre-nerf wild pets were still better.
You know, this is like a bank error in your favor. You dont help the bank by pointing out their blunder. You keep your trap shut.
AgeOldMyth.... please back up your assertion that prenerf wild ones are better than what was produced with this exploit.
remember we're talking cl 2-10. show me one with over 4k ham, 45% resistances, 100+ damage.
Put up or shut up
