I dunno, it's been a couple of weeks now, if anything prices have gone up, not down. Mount sales petered out only days after that release. Also, unlike mounts there are consumables. I have no reason to believe that this is a "price bubble".

I think you guys are being a little too hard on Gracchus. Chefs are an easy target, lol, but he seems to actually be making a genuine effort to partner with BE's and work with them, rather than doing the "usual" and seeing how low a bid he can get on tissues and turning around and making hundreds of k off each crate of tissues. I wish more chefs had his sort of attitude towards these types of partnerships.

And I agree with you Nemthang, no clue why people are going around giving away things from the BE tree or saying that resources are worth so little. I suppose a high quality resource is only valuable to the people that don't have it eh? lol, that's the whole point. I squirelled away some talusian fungus about 20 shifts ago, and am still using it. Nothing close to that quality has spawned since then, and no telling when it will spawn again. You're telling me I should sell that for dirt cheap just because it didn't cost a lot for me to harvest at the time Greglan? Well, none for you then, lol.

So once a Chef figures out why you ask him how much he sells brandy for, you sell mostly at 40k a crate for medium? )

What about light and heavy?

I've mostly been a "pet" BE, but I'm thinking of branching out into "industrial" BE work, so I'm a tad clueless on the pricing for anything beyond pet stims...

prices for brandy are like buff prices, and everything else...they vary widely by server.

there are quite a few servers where 300k+ is becoming less and less frequent with 150-200k becoming more the norm (this is most likely where most servers will settle at price wise for brandy).

getting 20k meat...it isn't hard, getting 20k good quality meat...that can be a problem. you don't need a massive group...a single fighter with buffs, and hunting 3 can pull in almost 30k meat/hour on dath. you just need to pray that the carnivore meat spawn is avg (500 pe/oq/fl) or better. going in a group...with even 2 other people...and 100k/hour shouldn't be unreasonable.

just reading the galaxy trade forums isn't a good way to get a feel for the "norm" prices on a server...in general the only ones that will advertise are the ones on the higher end of the pricing scheme...the lower end priced chefs...or even just the reasonably priced chefs dare not advertise (at least not yet) for fear of being flooded by hundreds of orders in a matter of hours (if 600k/crate is as common as some may suggest...then a chef selling for 150k is not going to even leave his/her master chef tag on while running around).

glad to see some of the BE's have adopted a harder stance against chefs that are getting carried away with the prices...while not giving the reasonably priced chefs the shaft as well. I like ArthurDentOnBria's pricing scheme where its 40k or 1/4 of the brandy price...quite reasonable...another possibility is to ask for some of the brandy in trade...i.e. 40 crates of additives for...8 crates of brandy, or for those that can't get the meat but want have partnered to supply a chef with schems...maybe 1 or 2 crates per schem...that way you're not giving it away...and you don't end up getting shafted by a chef that prices at 600k...if you get 8 crates of brandy that the chef sells for 600k...or 8 crates of brandy the chef sells at 150k...it affects both chefs the same, and that way you can have more of a "set" price (8 crates is 8 crates...doesn't matter what kind of chef it is).

oh and FYI...brandy isn't the only thing BE's might want to get...try inquiring about ahrisa...which I'm surprised isn't much more popular by now...BE ahrisa + BE brandy can give 2000+ focus buff (2 doses brandy + 3 doses ahrisa)...ahrisa is food...brandy is a drink...and both have similar durations, and unless I'm wrong 1500 focus = no mind cost for specials/skills (at least it works that way for combat specials...not sure about things like heals/surveys/etc).

I think x-server communication and price "setting" based on some type of formula (an example of the one I use is submitted in my "chef pricing" post) would be a good idea for everyone all around.

For Nutrient suppliments I charge 488-750-975 creds per unit (and still people want me to deliver!).

But then again, my 'economic model' is based on me selling in bulk for resale rather than direct sales (I'm a manufacturer rather than a 'Wal Mart').

Gracchus, I salute you ! At least there is one chef in the game that understands the concept of "Fair Trade", and is actively trying to promote it.

I started a thread on the Chef forums a while back, where I tried to complain about the pricing of additives/schematics, because I was horrified by the attitude that was being reflected in many of the BE-additive discussions there. At that stage, the common view of the Chef Community seemed to be that they would rather buy schematics from BE's (@ 50-75K per 1000-unit schem), than give up any of their profits. In fact, a few posters gleefully stated that they had even managed to get schematics made for free by BE's that had no idea what supplements were worth. It all made me very angry, and my threadbecamea bit too sarcastic(it was locked for trolling after a while). Aside from the firestorm that landed on my head, there were 1 or 2 respondents that seemed to be vaguely supportive (ty ArthurDent), and got the general idea I was promoting.

If it wasn't for the large amounts of money being made by some people, I'm sure things would not have become so heated. I suppose I'm naive to think that many people would give up money because it's a fairer reflection of the value that they are getting in exchange for their money. After all, it's the old "Buy Low, Sell High" philosophy all over again. However, nowadays we seem to be slowly getting used to the idea that "exploitation" is a bad thing. Well, in the real world, mostly.

As it is, I have to compete for meat with Chef's nowadays, and seeing as they are making far more money than I am from their sales, they can buy up all the supplies at prices that I can't afford anymore. Or, as one Chef said, offer crates of Vassarian brandy in exchange for 10K stacks of meat. He had a couple of hundred K of meat in no time... All he had to do was find a BE to make him a couple of schematics from time to time.

Sadly, many BE's have never made a tissue in their careers, and are completely unaware that by making schem's for a couple of credits or for free, they undermine the chances of other BE's making a successfull business out of tissues. All they see is the fast buck for no effort, after all, it is 50K for 2mins work, so easy money, yeah ?

So thank you, Gracchus, for trying to do something right, and fellow-BE's, please give the guy a break. If we had more people with this kind of attitude, the game would be a lot more fun for everyone.

Curently I am charging 45 cpu for meat and 20cpu for flora. THis seems to work.
