I personally sell all the tissues for : 1k per light supplement, 2k per medium supplement, 3k per heavy supplement... but that may just be me, there doesn't seem to be any static prices around.. -DZ

Hey hey hey--don't get testy, Grach. Any time there is a business deal, both parties want to get the most out of the relationship. If I produce a component that makes a final product highly desirable, then I see that product selling for 600,000 credits, it's logical that I'm going to want a piece of the profit. Heavy additives come from a professional who has spent a lot of time, effort, and credits to get where they are. You know this, because I imagine you're an accomplished chef who's "been there."

Personally, I don't think 20-30% of the final price is unreasonable, especially since it's the BE additive that makes your food so desirable (and thus, worth the high prices chefs are charging). This is the beauty of interdependence. Without the chefs, BEs only have tailors, creature handlers, and non-creature handlers to sell products to (wait...that's everyone in the game...). Without BEs, you are limited in regards to the quality of a product you produce. Each profession needs the other.

My normal pricing plan on Kettemoor is 1k-2k-3k, this makes a crate of heavy additives cost 75k. It's probably a good idea to throw an extra in there F.O.C. so that when you build your schematic, you get a full crate out of it. So, if I sell you my crate for 75k, and all the other components cost you 125k (I know, I'm being intentionally ridiculous), that's a 200k investment which you sell for 600k, thus turning a 400k profit. Compare that with the amount of money that the BE made on the deal, and you can see why some BEs are raising their prices. If you use the 20% pricing model, I'd charge you 120,000cr for the crate; at 30%, I'd charge you 180,000cr. Your profit is still double mine, which is very respectable and lucrative.

Now, I don't think (hope might be a better word) that most chefs are charging such a high fee; I've seen plenty of 200k and 300k crates around, though. Even with that model (and much more realistic resource priciing), chefs are bringing in 2-3 times the profit that the BE is making. So please don't get too upset if you get curt remarks when you ask us about pricing.

A better approach might be to contact a BE in-game; several, in fact. Get them to bid against each other and see what the best deal is you can work out.

Play nice, have fun.

Ok, here's my "real" answer Gracchus... my price of a crate of medium food supplement that increases nutrition is priced at 1/4 of the price of the chef's brandy or 40k/crate whichever is larger. Seriously, I question any BE's sanity that sells nutrients to a chef only to see them turn around and mark them up several hundred percentof pure profit.

ok I appologize

let me clarify. My concern was this: looking at the price of chef foods and then seeing how much BEs on my server were charging for medium adds I realized they were getting shafted. The entire chef profession relies on BE products. My plan was and is to profit share with the 3 dedicated BEs I work with.

Oddly enough almost in every case when purchasing BEs (I buy on the average 120crates per day of lite and med nutris) the price quoted by the BE was lower than I intended to pay. What I do pay regardless of what the BEs originally asked for is near 33% of the total cost of the item I'm selling. Right now I have 500 crates of medium and lite enhance food/drink at 120k each. As I'm charging the same for lite and med enhanced food I pay the same for the BE adds. I'm currently paying 1.5million for 1k run (40crates) of lite or med nutri adds. And as I am selling more products I am the one who is deciding to pay more to the BEs so that they can share in the profit. Im also encouraging other BE's to charge more for products when I speak to them.

Ive examined the BE adds and came up with the following: for the BSpec the requirement is 20meat and 60flora/org. Setting the cpu value for the meat at 30 and the other ingred at a modest 5cpu the cost for producing a crate of Bspecs is 900k. So at what I'm paying the BE gets a markup of 40%. Since I use only the best ingredients on my end for the finished product that's another 30k or so cpu ingredient value. That brings me at around 70k cost per crate of the food/drink which gives me approx a 50% markup on the item.

At any rate as far as I'm concerned is directly proportional the the BE item cost as it should be.

I'm not opposed to paying more for BEs as the cost will be directly passed to the consumer.

I believe I have one of the largest, if not the largest chef outlet in the game atm and yeah I take it pretty seriously. I consider the BEs I work with as partners not just purveyors.

Thanks for your time and answers.

here, let me stick my thumb in your bonnet. I do schematic work for FREE. The whole process that is being set up is a joke. The economic system being employed here is totally unrealistic. In true economics, all parts of the system have input and output. The farmer need machinery from the factory worker who needs food from the cook who needs vegetables from the farmer (great big money circle). The system on swg is one way. the combat guy needs food, weapons, armor, and maybe pets. Everyone he buys from has some kind of expenditure to architects (resources, harvesters, crafting stations). Charging 10cpu for resources, especially if you are using only 13 BER heavies, is ludicrous since you can get up to 1300 upc. This is not a rant against architects. I am simply trying to display that resources, even 1000 OQ resources, are not worth 10cpu if they all cost the same low low cost to pull out of the ground.
500 X 25 X 80 = 1 million resources used for your addatives. Even at 10cpu, that's 10 million credits. yer chargin 120k per? 500 X 120000 = 60 million. dear god, 60 cpu for addatives? Did ya know you can get 20k meat a day easily? you just need 4 scouts and a jedi or 3 rangers and a couple commandos (of which there are thousands).

Hahaha, that's a funny comment. Hey Grelgen, you could also get 100k of meat a day easily too, all you need is a couple dozen rangers, rofl.

I've not sold any light nutrients yet, but I sell mediums for 1k and heavy for 1.3k

(Based on 20cpu for meat and 10cpu for other resources)

I have noticed that some chefs wants us to have high prices for additives aswell since it will hinder new chefs to get hold on large amounts of additives, which will lead to that new chefs have harder time starting up their buissniess. So the ones that already have the money will have easier time to make more money due to little competition. I know these persons will have no problem with paying an extra 500,1k cpu just to make sure others dont get the additives.

eventually prices will come down, people are not goin to pay 600k for a crate, for long

just like when mounts came out...prices were inflated..they came down.

i charge 15 cpu, 20 for milk

hopefully the chefs i deal with now will remember my fixed prices, and keep coming back

Hello. I am a master chef and I would also like to state that I do not sell my brandy for anywhere close to 600k. It is actually closer to 150k for the BE stuff. And the only reason that is the case is because even once I get the product from a BE. I still have to turn it into an additive and then do my 3 other factory runs. That is alot of work. Anyways.... I did not mean to rant. Just letting you know that not all of us chefs are that greedy.

The main reason I am here is to look for a BE to do business with on Starsider. Would Clest or anyone else be interested?
