Bio Engineer Archive
Thread: The Former BioEngineer Forum.
Unfortunately I feel as though I've been r aped with my purchase of ToOW. Luckily I only purchased it for 2 of my 3 accounts. As I use a gamecard for 2 accounts and they expire in November and December I see no need to continue purchasing any more gamecards. I did give myself a six-month subscription for my birthday however so I will have one account active until the end of February but I hit the cancel button last night.
As I have always played on TC I will continue to do so. As all of SOE/LucasArts brilliant schemes for SWG have been complete and utter failures I know exactly how the NGE will fair. They are probably already at work for the NGEs replacement.

this isn't a trade board... but that doesn't matter anymore.
the BioEngineer profession has been removed from SWG NGE.
I was put at the helm for the beginning of the end (the CURB), and it looks like I'll be here until they turn the lights out. I've enjoyed my time here because of you, the community. I haven't enjoyed the changes that have left the profession a bug-ridden cross to bear, and I certainly don't enjoy watching the last days of what has been a good 2+ years.
I'll be testing the NGE... my accounts are paid until January, and I'm still stubborn and foolish enough to think that I can help improve the game by testing.
I'll see you all somewhere else, or I won't. I should probably change my sig, while I'm at it.
despite what Tiggs has suggested: I don't think any of the veteran mBioE's will be 'respec'ing' to medic or trader. BioE has long been something more than either of these basic gamestyles, and I think we'll all miss the thorny little profession that the devs never figured out what to do with.
here's hoping the next week finds you all better than today. if you make it over to TC to test the NGE, give me a holler.
EDIT: after some consideration, I decided to leave the mod/dev messages stickied. I might be king in this realm, but I don't feel like flexing right now.

Here's to filling six houses, three factories, half a guild hall and half a city hall with DNA samples.
Here's to masking scent and walking to the bottom of the squill cave for the Hero of Tatooine quest.
...
Here's to every Chef, Tailor, Creature Handler or regular Joe who ever bought anything we made.

Here's to those who made them.
Some good times in there.

Oh, no, please flex. This is shameful what they have done to you all. I've very much appreciated the BE community for the animals you've made me and the mods you have provided to the other crafters. Life in the NGE will be less varied and less interesting with the loss of the unique professions like BE. You will all be missed.
but look at the simple elegance of the stickies...
we've got a 2004 sticky that states, from a mod, that this ISN'T A TRADE FORUM.
following that, we've got Tiggs... and it's dated... telling us that a new BioE corr is needed.
after that? I stand at the door, holding a broom, watching the sun set.
wait! just in case you came in late, I explain EVERYTHING... and I do it calmly, and with clickies. then folks start petition links.
and the closer? Dorelli says sweet sweet blushful things to all of us... like we'd wish our moms would say, if they understood this stupid obsession of ours.
I think it's in poor taste to remove someone else's sticky... so I left the mod/dev posts. but look at how well they sit as bookends on the shelf that we've been sent to as a profession... opposite the OTHER bookend which dorelli has offered.
it's a fairly sweet farewell, isn't it?
Bow to all the BE here.
I'll wear my master BE title forever...

Master Bio Engineer
will still be allowed for veteran players, and only for veteran players who mastered the profession. when you're a Commando, and pwning nubs in factional PvP, let them know that once you were the master of a profession that defied the devs attempts to make work.
for sure, my BE is going to be sporting the Breeder Title until they turn off the servers.

I declare shenanigans. broomsticks will be issued to all who enter. humor, criticism, adulation of peers, and everything else is fair game here. I won't be paying any attention to petitions, etc... but you all can if you want (I certainly won't stop you).
share old stories, make a joke, whatever. like I said: you all get broomsticks. use them wisely. I myself have an axe-handle, so I still trump you all. don't make me resort to using the ditch-witch.

/salute to all Bio Engs
I feel gutted for you all and the creature handlers.

Ever since that first holocron I used said "Go become a Bio-Engineer" I've been a BE. I've stuck with it for what seems like ages, made a couple billion credits and had a great time interacting with all the crafters and scout/rangers on Kettemoor. I've made so many friends through being a Bio-Engineer, heck, for being THE (non-pet) Bio-engineer on Kette (with the end of the profession here I think a little hubris is justified lol). During the holocraze I had so much fun saying "No, I won't make you schematics" to all the wanna be Chefs looking to make a quick buck with brandy sales...and through it all I never once took my Master Bio-Engineer title off, no matter how many times I wanted to throttle all the leet speaking twerps begging for schematics.
We have a great community here in the BE forums, there have been practically no flames or worthless posts here, everyone has always been willing to help someone out. We had the most complex and mind boggling systems in the pre CU pet crafting which I unfortuneatly never got the hang of.
Of all the crafting professions pre CU pet crafting was definitely an ART and not a science. You either loved it or hated it. We were the ultimate support profession back in the day, so many chefs, tailors, and CH's depended on us. We were the embodiment of "class interaction" as detailed in the original SWG concept.
I'm going to miss all of ya, and miss crafting even more. Once these new changes go into effect I wil be hanging up my crafting apron for good (wow, I'm so glad I collected all of those 12 point suits, great conversations pieces nowlol).
I had originally cancelled my two accounts with Pub 24 (the snare changes were the last straw for me). But with this new system coming out SOE has managed to squeeze another $15 out of me for my main toon (Jedi and the BE/Merchant) to be recalled. I hope most of you at least stick around to try the new stuff out, and for the rest of you I wish you Good Luck with your future endeavors (once D&D Online comes out if you see a Frogmorton running around feel free to chat me up).
LONG LIVE THE BIO-ENGINEER!

we've always had direct ties with tailors, chefs, and CH's. many of us were also rangers, or artisans, or merchants. certainly, all of us were scouts and medics.
take a stroll around and see if you can't see something worth reading.
