The true measure of any correspondant will be how well they can

1. Summarize the main issues bothering the community

2. Prioritize those issues

3. Present the issues in a clear, logical fashion that can be readily acted upon by the Dev team

4. Energize the Dev team to action on those issues

Board presence here would enable 1. and 2., but does not necessarily imply 3, and certainly does not imply the all important 4. Whoever volunteers for this job has my support, as its going to be a lot of headache and work. I say give them a chance and be open minded, and you may be surprised.

i would second a nomination for sumorex ... even tho he is a ch/be combo (which i would rather not have in corrospondant position) i have read many of his posts and would agree that he would not be swayed by the ch part of his character.... he seems very passionate about the community and about the class as a whole

Sumo agreeing with Tal-N - the end is surely coming. I have to agree here myself. I'd personally like to see someone that's been active in this community since the start, although I know there aren't many of us left that have. I've also put in my application, but I've seen the way we scrutinize past correspondents. This would be a tough crowd to have to work for

I'd throw my vote in for Sumo (I hope you applied), you've had the most unbiased and intelligent responses on this board since launch.

Faceless one here...and I agree with Tal-N, even if I don't agree necessarily that he used the most tactful language to get his point across. I just hope that whoever is the winning masochist has enough hours in the day to live Real Life and man the rudder for this adrift profession. I know I don't, which is one of the reasons I didn't bother applying (and I'm not that much of a glutton for punishment).

I don't know how much larger a grain of salt I can take all this with...here's hoping.

I can't say I would want someone who's never posted here before to be the Bio-e Correspondent. What I AM saying is that running about and essentially being a social elitist and exclusionist goes against the grain of what these boards are trying to accomplish. Correspondent stuff aside, calling people who've not posted here often "faceless wonders" only serves to demean the recent additions to the profession (when, in actuality, these are the people that most need our help!). Just because you've been a Bio-engineer "since day 1" doesn't mean you're any better at it than someone who's only been a bio-engineer since day 50 (the skill boxes don't increase your skill based on how long you've had them...would be wise to keep this in mind).

I agree that, yes, someone who's already known around here (such as Sumo...you'd get my vote!) may already be well-liked and credible in the eyes of the community, but really, credibility in our eyes and how much we like him/her are completely irrelevant. What matters is whether or not he/she passes our wishes and complaints on to the devs, not whether he/she is likeable and credible (although, if he/she does a good job passing things on, his/her credibility and popularity would likely increase).

But I stray from the pertinent topic here: social division. Tal, I love reading your posts, and I generally find them informative and constructive, but you are way out of line here. Instead of trying to form a clique of "hardcore, from-the-start" bio-engineers...how about you try to include everyone (thus fulfilling the purpose of this COMMUNITY)?

DC is right. I too would prefer that the new correspondent be a 733t ex-CH that dumped his prior profession because it was nerfed. Only that kind of person would understand what's wrong with this profession and have the required constitution to stick with BE. As long as he understood how to get on TH's good-boy list.

Tal, you're new theme song should be "Rock the Boat." I think we need to sticky a shoe-horn to the boards since you so often need one to pry your foot out of your mouth.

I agree with Tal and Summo, the correspondent is a forum presence, and for that reason should be active and respected here prior to getting the position. Who cares whether of not they can write a nice application or essay? The important aspect is having personal in-game experience in bio engineering AND having the ability do discuss/share information, ideas with others HERE ON THIS FORUM. If they are not active on this forum, they are not qualified to do this, simple as that.

The only problem with that is that you sell short the people who have been bio-e for a long time but only recently discovered the boards here. Like I said, credibility on the forums matters not: it's credibility and a good relationship with the devs that matters. Our Correspondent could be a complete @$$ who's only got like 20 posts here, but if he gets the job done, then who would complain? Being known within the community is not a pre-req here, guys...If it was, they'd have only allowed people wiht a certain post count to apply.

Not a bad idea, actually, lol.
