dont worry....the faceless person selected, will be for a reason....I have some...shall we say theories.....

It involves being asked questions in game by people who say they know nothing about Bio_engineers, and then turn around and start telling you things that can only come from an intimate knowledge of the proffession.

Maybe I am paranoid...but my GM intuition never has failed me...

I just want to say...that sometimes the correspondents make bad....very bad....freudian slips...perhaps on purpose...or perhaps a mistake....but these slips...make me wonder....

Hehe, actually, you might be right, Arthur...A post count pre-req may be a good thing.

I think people are misinterpreting my whole point here, though. This isn't about the correspondent; it's about the community as a whole. We will not grow as a profession if we do not have a welcoming community, and Tal's comment only served to undermine the whole community concept. I don't want any of my posts to be perceived as a personal attack against Tal; I do, however, want everyone to realize that I'm trying to tackle the issue of social division and exclusion (as opposed to tackling Tal)

A correspondent needs to have good two-way communication. Remember that most of the complaints about Wayubb had nothing to do with what he was telling the devs, but in how he reported back to us. We can't see what's going on on that side of the fence, but we can see what's happening on this side. So I agree that the correspondent should be an active member of these forums. Someone who knows what to expect from these boards. Remember how touchy Wayubb was about criticism at first? Then later his posts turned a bit more dev-like, "I'll look into it," kind of things. He may have been very good about talking to the devs, but his lack of forum experience did show. Also, can we expect someone who hasn't shown up much around here, taking an unpaid position, to suddenly devote an hour or more to the boards each day? They might know about BE, but Correspondent is also a PR position, like it or not. Doesn't mean you have to be happy and smiley all the time, (the position would be impossible to fill if you did) but you do have to communicate. I'm not trying to knock Wayubb down, he filled the position as he thought best. We won't ever really know what happened off of these boards, so we have no way to judge on that end.

Well being outspoken doesn't mean you're unable to function as a representative. I might argue my side to a bunt point but I also understand that correspondants have a responsibility to be fair. Talthazar has been selected and he like me sticks to his guns alot but generally avoids getting into heated debates which probably explains why we was selected as the correspondant. On the whole I htink he's gonna make a better rep than I'd ever be cause I know there'd be resistance to if I was selected which I why I never applied before.

Tal, you're new theme song should be "Rock the Boat." I think we need to sticky a shoe-horn to the boards since you so often need one to pry your foot out of your mouth

Yeah but at least I don't complain when it happens and blame someone else, I know I stick my foot in my mouth sometimes but often it stays there because I stick to my guns. As for why an active member of the community is needed the reason is simple.. people know them, so they'll try to avoid letting everyone down. Also someone who is active in the community tends to also be well up to date on all of the issues.

I'll have to agree. He just gave a well-justified point on his earlier remark. The problem with the active members are that each of them have their own point of views at issues. They will outgoingly explain and debate those point of views. That is 1/2 of why they are constantly visitingand responding to the forums. Correspondents represents the point of views into oneambiguous perception and start to pick off the irrational and unjust responses, and keep the justified statements in the garden. He has to be a great listener and strong interpreter of the standing issues that the bio-engineers face. You must understand that be able to collect the majority's point of views.

I agree with sumo 100%. As far as alot of bugs and problems we are having, I am still learning, being that I just chose this prof. not long ago, but this will be my perm. prof. on this char. so, they not going to turn me away.

And yes, basically we need an experienced MBE for this, and one who is active on the forums. XP is the key on this one, while at the same time, we need somebody with some marbles too, and not scared to say what needs to be said to the dev's. If a consistant problem is not fixed, and is turning into a serious problem, then it NEEDS to be fixed. If the devs choose to put this fix off, then the public cor. needs to step in and put his darn foot down. Explain that it can not be put off, it needs attention NOW.

All I am trying to say, is that we need our prof. fixed and stop worrying about the BULL#@^! that can wait for a few weeks.

Well I got to stop, cause I get mad, and tell it like it is. Then I get to rambling on.

Peace
