In my (quite limited) experience, raising the power raises cl faster than anything else.
Here's an amusing snipit of conversation between a customer and me while I was crafting using my droid.
Me: "RATS!"
Cutstomer: "What?"
Me: "Oh.... I just got an Amazing Success."
Customer: "But that's a good thing, isn't it?"
Me: "Not when you are trying to create a NCH mount."
Customer: "Oooo. Good point."
Just a small revisit...
I experimented for a few days with the MR, MR, FG, FG, MR and was able to make a 14k ham, CL 70 pet with 580-590 attack. I made a gurrek with it and tamed it for my private stash. So far I've been very pleased with its performance.
I have done 70's with Bull Rancor and Merek Harvester also, though it is a tough stretch to experiment them carefully enough, and I think the CL was based more on damage and speed/to hit than on HAM.

I think it's a real shame BE's aren't able to experiment things down as well as up. There have been many times when I've just known I've gone one too far when the stat jumps a lot more than I thought it should.
We're about the only crafting school that would want to do this though, so I guess it won't happen in my SWG lifetime
Meroc, all med types have the experiment things down. At least in a way. They have an experimental stat for "med use". If the med use is too high, there is a chance they can't use it (depending on their use skill). I don't don't see why be's can't have a stat for CL that can be experimented down the same way. This would give you a chance to get an added bonus from using the really good stuff to make your pets.
I don't think you should be able to experiment them down alot, but it should be enough to be noticable. We don't want the uber pet problems we used to have. Maybe a limit of 3 CL points or something. So you can make a cl 48 down to a cl45.

I've been kind of burnt out on SWG lately so I haven't put many new pets on there, I hope you had a chance to look at page 2, as there are close to 150 pet deeds on the vendor.
I would say 95% of the pets on the vendor are what I call conversions.
I've beena MCH since about the 8th week of release. Basically I just go out in the wild and look at creatures that I wish I could tame, then I take 5 samples, slap it together and make a pet from it. I really don't do a lot of combines, I just find a critter, take 5 samples and POOF, there's a pet to put on the vendor.
The most popular sells are the pets made with 5 frenzy graul dna samples, then the 5 bark mite burrower queen pet and the MR, MR, MR, MR, RY formula pet.
The logic I use is if I wish I could tame a creature, then I bet there are other MCHs who wish the same thing. So I fill that role.

Can someone give me a direction on where I can find some FG? I know it might be in Dantoonie but most of what I found are Gurals or guarl maulers. I will got get some FG samples and see I can do the CL70 with Kinetic over 55. Thanks in advance.
About 3 months ago (on Bria) you had a really really good chance of finding Frenzied Grauls just simply by wandering in the to the south and to the west of the imperial outpost on Dant. Go say 2k south, then if you haven't found any go 2k west, and then 2k back north and you were almost sure to find some somewhere in there. Things have changed a lot since then. About all I can suggest is wake up real early some morning (as soon after the server reset as you can) and go check those areas. I think that's your best chance at finding them.
