Thread: BE vs. TKA
This is the reason I do not PvP in limited stat based games (i.e. you have a limited stat pool to distribute amoungst skills - in SWG 250 skill points).
It doesn't work: Unless you go for one of the cookie-cutter combat templates you will be ganked by peope who are solely combat orientated.
There is no half-way house here - you either go "full PvP" and get nothing but combat skills (Doctor is a combat skill), or do any sort of crafting and stay out of it (or you will die).
Hylidex, my earlier response isn't meant to be a slap but I don't quite understand what advice you are seeking
Want to become immune to PvP? Go to the recruiter and resign. It stops you doing the faction missions but those are reserved for people who put themselves at risk just as the game's very highest level content (playing a Jedi) bears even greater risk

that's just it. the GCW has no place for crafters, other than BEs for destroying bases. If we want to play with the other children, we have to pick up some rudimentary weapon skills, which will still be ineffective against most NPC targets. Added to that, most players dont harvest meat, so we are stuck depending on the 4 or 5 master scouts/half rangers in our area who charge 10 cpu for grind quality meat.
See, thats part of the problem. "the other children" often seem to be just that. "dad! I wana play Star Wars!" "here you go." "Cool! Online." "Hey Jimmy, watch me pwn this guy who just got a TEF." "heh. that was, like, funny... and stuff.."
(sorry, slight schitzo episode there.)
as far as sampling the biggies goes, you HAVE to be buffed to the max and be ready to run.
I'm a MBE/TKM and I have to say, buffed/spiced/armored I do just fine in PvP ![]()
Yes, there are those who have "stacked" combat templets but they are not the only ones that PvP. Not to mention SOE is slowly but surely nerfing profession def stacking.
Best part about being a MBE/TKM is when those pesky mutants aggro I kill em all. It really takes the edge off the whole process
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, gives me more of a warm fuzzy feeling then to take on 10 Mutants at once, who at one point would have had me running for dear life, and just drop em all in under 2 mins. I then harvest their meat, mask scent, kneel, and wait for re-spawn. Sample till they aggro and repeat.
Anywho, I do feel your pain about being harassed from some newbie combat types who think they are just bad a$$ because they mastered some easy to master combat profession. Grinding TKM took NO skills. Just buy yourself some good VKs, armor, and get yourself buffed. Once you are TKM it takes even less skills LoL
I solo E. Rancors by the dozens without even risking death. NightSister? No problem. Knockdown/dizzy followed by unarmed3.
BE on the other hand is another story
Sure, grinding really doesnt take too many skills other then being able to write macros **but**, unlike tkm, grinding BE doesnt get you loot, badges, fp, and give you acess to PvP. So, IMHO, it was much more of a drag.
However actually being a real "master Bio-Engineer" is another story. I've been a MBE for a few months and I'm still learning new things about the profession. I learned all therewas about TKM far before I even mastered it LoL
So what I'm trying to say, in a long round about way, is dont let a bunch of teenie bopper with no skills and a rl inferiority complex ruin your fun. Ban em from your shop, have your friend ban em from their shops, and just forget about em ![]()
You still can be an effective combatant even you are master BE. It is always good to have some skill to atleast protect yourself from mob that you try to sample. Btw, you can get 500 rps by camping low level npc outside town (for disks). This probibly safer for you.

And as they revamp the missions for more planets you should see more of this. Not many for rebels at the moment, since dant and tat are pretty well imp controlled. I believe there is one or two rebel missions on Dant, as well as a couple in Anchorhead. There are imp missions all over the two planets.
So, that fixes your faction problem, but like you said, in this game you just have to suck it up and move on. It sucks, yeah, but it happens. When you are TEF'd you get a little flag in your health bar, avoid towns till that is gone (takes like 5 mins or so) and always pay attention to your radar.
With the creature stealing, well, it sucks, but it doesn't happen -too- often, and just ban the people who did it, ask everyone you know to ban them too, and move on.
Wow, I didn't know people could whine so much. Look dude, not to sound like a jerk here, but if you wanted, you could master a comabt profession and keep BE. If you keep getting killed when sampling rancors, perhaps you need a combat profession to defend yourself in case of that. Furthermore, there is nothing you can do about jerks that come up and want to kill your DNA Sample targets. You just have to go to remote areas, sample, and move out.
However, I find that you complaining about not being able to defend yourself and do GCW missions pretty pathetic. If you don't care about the combat, don't do the missions. If you want the badge, and you need FP, you're going to need a combat profession to get that. There is no other way around it. Suck it up and move on brother.
And BTW, I'm a BE/TKM/Fencer right now, and I know what you mean, but I don't think the system is flawed, nor do I think it's unfair. The system is the way it is and it's just fine that way.
