Thread: BE vs. TKA

Message accepted. Strange. I posted two posts at the same time, this one, and one that was designed to help people find the animals they needed for sampling DNA. This one has 11 replies, the other one none.
I was hoping to have some means of protecting myself against aggressive players. Instead, the message is essentially, "shut up and take your licks." I accept that. My frustration was that to be attacked by another human being much stronger than I am without knowing it was possible felt a lot like being assaulted feels in real life. Losing my pet, my bike, and my faction points without knowing they were at risk doubly so. I had hoped for advice. I'll accept the reprimand and shut up.
Not everyone is an assclown that will just tell you to suck it up. You wonder why they even bother to post. I tend to ignore them. You can't do anything aboutthemjust like you can't do anything about the TKA jerk that killed your rancors. They do it because they can.
Your tag is meaningless to be honest. I know a TKM that runs around with stim pack chemist for a tag. She uses that tag for stealth. All she has to do is hit you once and you realize something isn't right. I know a commando that wears novice entertainer for the same reason.
SWG advertises the game for PvP and PvE players alike. You can participate in PvP or not participate. Its advertised that PvP is not forced on anyone. The imperial crack down changed this. When you're scanned you're forced to be overt. You don't get a choice. You don't get a TEF. You get declared. If you're a TKA its no big deal. If you're a master artisan or an entertainer you're goose is cooked. You're forced to sneak around until you find a recruiter to undeclare or you just ask someone to please kill you so you lose the tag. I had this happen twice in one day. I was scanned coming out of the cloners after I'd died to clear the tag. Forced right back into being overt. Oh well. My customers seem to like killing me. ![]()
As many will tell you, joining a faction is voluntary. You can play the game as a neutral but you lose out on the already very thin content of the game. You can have it both ways however. I have a friend that is BE and TKA. He wears a BE tag ![]()
For advice I'd suggest you take along a friend when you sample rancors. I have a secret "fishing hole" I go to. Its not camped and I rarely have to deal with people killing my critters. Try to find a spot like that and create a waypoint for it. Also, you're aligned. Always be aware of that. That's part of the game. You want to run faction missions you should try to role play that. You know you have limited combat. You took a flag. The other side isn't going to just let you walk away with it. The TEF wears off after a while. Be sneaky and try to have fun with it. That way when you do die at least it was exciting even if it is to a TKA. ![]()
I am going to have to give the "jerkish" comment from Tej some credit.... Given the way this game functions for PvP and GSW.....you will either need to fully accept bothas an integral part of the game or stay out of it completely. There is good reason for developing the game this way....damned if I can find it...lol. Just adjust your game play a little andaccept that kids withfew game manners and integrity play in here too. Whenyou've accepted that your game play will improve....I promise....mine did.
I will have to say that, watchingafew combat typesdestroy MR'shas got to be a hard pill to swallow. I've yet to find a Mutant Rancorsince I mastered BE....seen lots ofAncients, Enraged, Bull, regular, and Youths....no Mutant Rancors.Chin up man...it's all good
TO be utterly and completely honest, you are right. That is why i found myself dropping the BE profession completely. I had no combat skillz to compete, and it was xtremly repetative. I found that i had to rely on my friend to save me. But, they meant it to be that way, you do have to rely on others. When you are a crafter, you make the big bucks, which you are then to save so that if you decided, you could drop your crafting, take up fighting, and buy what you need. You really cant have it all, that would be no fun, but being preyed upon isnt fun either. You really do have to watch your back.
