Thread: Pet Pricing
Personally, I think 1k per c level is a little steep for some of the lower level pets, but more than fair for cl 15 pets, so I worked througha formula to calculate a curved price, and then rounded up or down to make the prices sound more sensical. Of course some special pets should sell for more, like CGs or rock beetles, but for the easy to find, run of the mill, starter planet stuff here's what I think the prices should be, and what I'll sell at when I get all the commands, including the transfer command (160k xp to go).
CL Price
1-4 1000
5-6 2000
73000
8 4000
9 5000
10 6500
11 8000
12 9500
13 11000
14 13000
15 15000
Personally, I'm not sure if I'd train BE pets for people, even if they are willing to pay. The developers have driven a gigantic wedge between CH's and BE's, with the BE's egging them on to do it. I say@$#&% 'em. They're our competitors now, and most of the problems the CH's now face are because the devs couldn't come up with a way to fix BE without taking from us and giving to them. Holo tried to make the CH's rely on BE's, but all he did was make a lot of us resent them.

Actually had a guy ask me today if I had a gnort for sale. Ummm... let me check on that for you bud.

I'm not going to stick with the 1k per CL price structure any longer. The Devs nerfed my ability to store pets, so now I have to take special orders. I don't want to sit around starports waiting for someone to buythe few non-CH pets I have.
...PeZzy on Bloodfin
Here are my prices on the Sunrunner server:
1) Cowardly Gurreck - 15k. (might seem low, but just get two babies and you make up for the travel cost)
2) A Mature Hanadak Rock Smasher - 20k. (baboon lookin fella, 9700 HAM, armor 1, etc)
3) Kliknik Defender - 15K.
4) Greater Sludge Panther - 15k.
5) Grand Wrix - 20k. (hardest animal for me to find)
6) Merreks - 20k for the Bloodstained, 25k for the Assassin and Delerious, 50k for the Toxic (haven't seen em lately)
7) Bile-Drenched Quenker - 30k. (my favorite tank, and most don't know how good of a workhorse these are)
8) Graul's - 20k for a regular, 30k for a Mauler.
9) Special requests - If someone asked me to go get them something specific, I usually charge double the travel cost plus 5k credits. A Kliknik Defender, if I didn't have them in stock, but you wanted me to get you one... 7000 credits travel cost, plus 5k... 19,000 Credits.
I thought about using the 1k per CL, but after I thought about it, decided that it wasn't fair to me or my customers.
Hope that helps,
Xith
ps. Travel to Endor via Theed, it's 2k cheaper than Coronet.
From now on the only pets I'll sell are either a) high end CH pets or b) BE pets.
"Well, beyond just pet pricing, I'm wondering what people intend to charge for training pets. I don't intend to train BE pets, because they're competitors now and I don't want to encourage peoplebuying BE stuff (I won't buy it myself since Holo has been driving a wedge between BEs and CHs). I know that a lot of CHs don't feel as strongly about this as I do, and that some kiss-ups will take whatever Holo says as holy scripture and rant at me for my opinion. However I'm curious if some CHs do intend to train BE pets people bring to them, or if they'll refuse to do it, or if they'll do it for free even."
You don't want to encourage people to buy BE stuff? If the BE's aren't selling pets, what are they supposed to be selling, stims and vitality packs only? I don't know where you've gotten all this great information, but BE's have gotten very few fixes at all to what is currently a pretty buggy/flawed class. The only thing that particular change does is allow the buyer (if they're not a CH) to tame the pet and bring it out- they still have to go to a CH for training, which means possibly money, experience, or both, for little effort.
It looks as though any CL15 or less can be transferred again by anyone, in any case. Which means anyone without Management IV (which probably includes you, given your tone) will be able to sell pets again, unless "all low level, non-aggressive pets to be 'trade-able' by anyone" is only referring to BE'd pets.
I've actualy got a master BE working on a pet for me. It's been a couple hours, and several attempts but he's not gotten anything significantly better than a normal creature.
i'd say 500 cr per command is fair. you could make it like a chinese food menu if you wanted.
list
Bio-Engineers can indeed make a better pet than what is found in the wild... the main problem is that they are limited to a very specific list of creatures that can be made, and making a better creature requires a massive amount of time and effort.
The best non-CH pet a Bio-Engineer can make is a Khamurra.. and even the best Khamurra in the galaxy isn't going to be as good as a rock beetle. They get some love at the other end of the spectrum.. those who take the time and obtain good enough DNA samples and materials can make Rancors and Gurrecks that are considerably better than the wild versions.
But their pet list jumps from Brackaset (CL 26) straight to Rancor and Gurreck with absolutely nothing in between.
BE's haven't been calling for CH nerfs... sure, once in a while someone who is frustrated and disappointed might show some bitterness, but isn't that a little understandable? I have nothing but sympathy for CH's and the constant swinging of the nerf bat... it's the same sort of thing Magicians were hit with in EQ. But most BE's are too busy either begging the devs to acknowledge their existence or crying quietly in the corner to worry about calling for CH nerfs...

I agree that BEs CAN make things better than natural, but right now the rpocess is so buggy it's difficult for them to do so. Instead they churn out crap for the most part unless you work closely with a master chances are you're better off taming it yourself.
