There is a hidden decimal point on the FC of a crystal/pearl. If it says -8 FC, it might actually be -8.46, or -7.8. I think the same applies to the lightsaber: a 14-FC saber might actually be anywhere from 13.5 FC to 14.499999 FC.

Have a 50 / 50 -9 to but going to wait till i can use 2nd gen to use that one.

What in the blazes? Why are using your best crystals to grind with? You are really really going to need crystals like that for your 4th generation pvp saber.......

All you need to grind with is -5 or -6 fc crystals.....

My 1st gen polearm is 3 FC with a -9 crystal, that was with 3 experimentation points put into Effeciency.

tonight I should be 0043 and will get 2 more points, All my resources are 900+ OQ, I'm hoping to be able to experiment down to 2 or 1 FC once I get 0044. I'll try and experiment the training saber down later and see what happens.

The number of points you have to spend are based on your "Artisan Experimentation" skill when making items from the Artisan tree. Weaponsmiths get "weapon experimentation" for weaponsmith items, chefs get "food experimentation" for chef foods, etc. Experimentation skills don't stack across professions.

You get one point to spend for every 10 "experimentation" skill. So a non-human 44xx artisan gets 10 points, since the engineering and dom arts trees give a total of +100 Artisan Experimentation. A Human has a +15 artisan experimentation species bonus, so they get 11 points to spend at 44xx artisan (115 / 10 = 11.5, which gets rounded down to 11).

There are skill tapes that give a bonus to experimentation that can be placed into clothing, up to a maximum of +25 (counting tapes for a given skill across all pieces of clothing). This cap is separate from a Human's +15 racial bonus. So a human artisan can have 100 (from skill boxes) + 15 (racial bonus) + 25 (skill tapes) = 140 Artisan experimentation skill mod, which equals 14 experimentation points.

Experimentation tapes are pretty pricey, usually 50k to 1 million credits per +1. Tapes with higher bonuses sell for more per-point because you only have a limited number of clothing slots available to put tapes into. Some experimentation mods are fairly useless (tailor experimentation is only used for one item), while others are greatly desired (weaponsmith, armorsmith, chef). I'm not sure what the market is for artisan tapes. I wouldn't think there'd be a huge demand for them, since extra points only give a benefit when there is more than one category to experiment on (since you can max out a single category with 10 points), and most artisan items have either a single category (vehicles) or have a very limited market (CDEF weapons, artisan food).

Sciguy pretty well summed it up but just to clarify, if you are a human master artisan, then you already have +115 artisan experimentation. This will give you 11 exp points. If you can find a +5 artisan exp skill tape it will boost you to +120 experimentation and give you a total of 12 experimentation points!

Structure experimentation gives you more experimentation points, which is mainly just going to give you larger hopper sizes on harvesters.

Structure assembly will increase your rate of getting better experiment rolls. So you'll get more great and amazing success and less of the moderate, good success and failures. I found this when testing the effect of the structure assembly points.

There are also Structure complexity tapes but those do nothing. The skill is apparently not implemented in the game.

Fearsider, did you note if you were getting great or amazing successes during the initial assembly and then again during the experimentation? More amazings would account for your better results. And more amazings is what I'd expect with higher assembly stat and food buff.

I got great success on the assembly with top line at 29% n hopper at 22% the funny thing was that when I was consuming the bestine port I was only getting great success with only one amazing successbut by the time I was full of port i had gotten to 78% where i ticked over to ber 13

I used the remaining points in hopper size where i got a row of amazing success without using the port as I was full at the time
