A few details you may want to consider, though:

1) The human bonus only applies to artisan experimentation. You won't get any bonus for items crafted from elite profs like weaponsmith and armorsmith.

2) Most artisan items either can't be experimented, or have only a single experimentation category. This means that 90% of what you can make can be maxed out with 10 experimentation points.

3) The few artisan items that do have multiple experimentation categories are low-level, so they don't have much market. Sure, a human artisan can make better CDEF pistols than a Mon Cal artisan, but most people blow through Marksman skill boxes fast enough that it doesn't really matter. And bone armor made with 14 experimentation points probably won't sell either.

4) That being said, there are a few Artisan-level foods (which have four experimentation categories) with effects not eclipsed by chef-level foods. They are special use stuff (Travel biscuits for +terrain negotiation, Jawa Beer for +mask scent) but they do have a market. A 4x4x human artisan with +25 worth of artisan experimentation skill tapes would be able to make some very high-powered versions of these foods.

That's Artisan 4/4/x/x x/x/4/x is the Business branch.

That'll be 500 lashings with a wet noodle.

Well, I guess that's what I get for posting from work.

/ahem

A humanartisan with Engineering IV and Dom Arts IV (there, can't screw up that way) with +25 in artisan experimentation tapes can make 14 point artisan food.

Can you experiment on the training saber? ... I have a Weapon Crafting station but it never lets me experiment?

Most believe the effect of experimentation on lightsaber construction is negligible; the quality of a lightsaber is dependent on its components (crystals, pearls). Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Ales Sre'Pasrih: The Sassiest Twi'lek of AhaziAhazi's namesake: A New Republic Hajen-class fleet tender assigned to the Fifth Battle Group. It was destroyed on its final training mission near Bessimir when it overshot its hyperspace exit point. It plunged into the planet's atmosphere and disintegrated.

With Novice saber my 1st gen was 5FC with a -8FC Crystal... so the math seems to point that you didn't really knock a full point off

i think the quality of the ls depends on components made of and the quality of the crafting tool, allthogh the last message here i dont understand, what this guy he means by that, and what in the hell has this to do with the question of this thread?

The grind looks to be a b!tch and I want the best saber i can have ... plus i got bored of sitting around waiting to tune my other crystals (tune and sitt for 5mins when i can be out using a new saber)... i can learn 3 more novice boxes now so will see what i can get with some lower ones. Got a capped swords / doc alt so if need be i spend a week killing more elders.

On a different subject ... Right now i have very little FC on my special ... how bad does it get going up 1 - 4 in the saber proffesion ... looks like ill have 1k + FP with all the novice boxes. That was the biggest reason i went with the -8 ... i thought the FC was goingto kill my grinding time.

Personally I stuck with 1st gen to finish my grind mainly because I didn't have anything good to grind with (broke down an 1150-1500 8 fc saber and got back 4 junk pearls ). Generally, If you have a 1st gen with 5 FC and are using a -8 crystal, you'll have to use two -8 crystals to get down to 5 fc with a 2nd gen. You'll get some extra damage with the extra crystal and from the fact that it's a higher gen, but it will also be slower. You'll have to toy around with the 2nd gen and see what stats you can make on it, and decide for yourself (or ask here) which gen would work better for you.

As far as using low fc components, you have the right idea. Low fc is always key, especially when you don't have much regen or max at lower levels. It's the high dmg/low fc components that I feel are kind of a waste. As you get more LS skills, crystals of that quality are going to be REQUIRED to have a PvP effective saber. I'd hate for you to get to the point where you're ready to make a PvP saber and realize that one crystal you were planning on using is completely decayed, forcing you to go spend a week just killing elders to fill the gap.
Try taking your main out and hunting nightsisters in general, not just elders. The rangers and spell weavers and whatnots will drop upper/mid crystals (lots of 'qualities') which have a solid chance of tuning into a great grinding crystal. A couple weeks back I gave a 'quality' crystal to a guildie and it tuned to -7 fc 24 dmg. Certainly not PvP quality, but a solid crystal for PvE usage. You'll also be able to find MANY more of these crystals since due to the sheer number of nightsisters compared to just elders. This will let you spend less time on dathomir with a swordsman and more time getting Jedi xp.

....Unless you've got a house full of premiums. If that's the case, you can forget everything I just said and you'll be just fine
