Thread: Vehicle Customization: Should it be for Master Artisans to perform or for anyone and everyone?
# 2
ummmm....and make the droid customization kits too usable by everyone...
If master artisans do a customization, it stays that way until changed again.
If it isn't done by a MA, then the customization fades after a while and must be re-applied.
That way, MAs are in demand, but players DO have an option to customize themselves. They just have to keep buying the kit.
If it HAS to be one or the other, go with MAs only.
O-Jen
Noone gets droids painted, noone's going to get their vehicles painted, once the initial novelty wears off.
In this world of high technology, we would have something akin to powdercoating at least. A 'customization kit' simply should NOT be akin to a package of whiteboard markers.
I won't even get INTO the way people panic over the messages regarding fading customizations.
Frankly, the whole fading customization scheme should have been killed while it still WAS in the whiteboard marker stage.
Thinking on the responces I am still in favour of player interaction but I don't want *negative* player interaction. I was a master smuggler for a long time and slicing people's weapons was always positive - even when it was a bad slice it was *objectivly* better than before, with colour it is subjective.
Customer:
"I want my swoop to look like that guys speeder"
Artisan:
"Sorry the colours don't take to the swoop in the same way, I can sell you a speeder like that"
Customer:
"I don't want a speeder, I want a swoop thats got them colours"
Artisan
"It can't be done"
Customer:
"Uh, I'll try someone else"
Repeat over and over again, lots of negative interaction. Worse still if the customer actualy gets it colourd and is unhappy especialy as a personal service will demand a higher price. Let him buy one of every kit and play with it himself till he gets the clour he likes, he may even send a tell to the Artisan asking about extended colour ranges but he can see with his own eyes what is posible and it only costs him a couple of grand.
Master artisans will still get tells about this, and its not the area of the game that needs more interaction in it anyway.
I know two DE *personaly* and I still never botherd to get my droid colourd, it just isn't worth putting them to the hastle and in any case I don't realy know what colours are posible so I'd just be getting it done for the hell of it.
#2 prefer to build a kit for people than have to sit there and explain to the dim little suckers why this and that doesn't work. make the color stick as people are always blowing away vehicles as it is.
Am curious.. why does the color on armor stick? and it doesnt stick on anything else in the game?
Just make it stick on the droids and the vehicles, make it a tool . and be done with it, move on to something a tad more important. k?
Thanks
I am not a master artisan but I think #2 would be preferable.
Master Artisans can make a lot of money selling the kits without lots of annoying tells and having to be present to do the customization. And lets face it we all have things to do and who wants to be telled when they are in the middle of something just to paint a vehicle lol.
They will probably sell even more kits that way also. Because how many will just not deal with customization if they have to find and coordinate with a Master Artisan to be in the same place at the same time. I for one would coustomize in a heartbeat if it is ease (buying kit) but would think 2 or three times about whether I would need it if I have to go through a hassle
I don't think its fair to vote for this at all.. since all people who are NOT master artisan will vote 2 and most master artisan will vote 1.. now, results seems clear to me..
Therefore I think this vote is rather silly.. Master Artisan (as some other profesions) need to be protected from the horde!
I vote #1!
