Thread: AV-21 ? What's the big issue?

IMHO, using asteroid resources for all repair kits is an excellent way to both make the resources useful, and to increase the cost of refurbishing vehicles. Let's face it, the only other way to keep it artificially high in price is to give it stupidly high resource req's. If we're selling the cow, we should get back what the milk for a day would be worth.
Fixing the Y8 should help with making the resources more accessible, too.
Yeah, but nobody's going to ever use these kits if they all cost 250k each. It should be something easily accessible to the consumer, and the producer.
I like the idea of the tiered kits...higher level/more costly to produce kits for the rarer vehicles.
I'd just like to be able to sell a swoop repair kit at a better price than actually selling a swoop - otherwise, why buy the kit and not just a new vehicle, in which case...why do we even the repair kit?
For the rarer vehicles, more rare/expensive resources make sense. But if things are to unified in terms of repair and such, then nobody's going to ever use the kit to fix their Swoop.
1) Keep the flash speeder as is. The only value to the flash speeder is that it can be re-generated for 20k without a deed or repair kit.
2) You might want to add a few second delay to the vehicle repair. Maybe 10 seconds from the time you say 'repair' to the time it's repaired. This would just help prevent any potential exploits with BH/jedi fights.

Allowing ALL vehicles to be restored using restoration kits is perfectly ok.. people wont use them on normal vehicles since the kits cost to much. That wont affect the market for the Artisan crafted, standard vehicles.
It WILL however open up the market for the restoration kits, which currently dont sell since the "bug" allows the BARC to be fixed for free at the garage.
The Asteroid resources needed for the kits arent all THAT hard to get, I got enough for 5 kits in one evening of mining. At most I'd say reduce the requirements to 500 of each of the 2 types of resource. This way someone with a standard 'large' cargo hold can go out and get 500 of each in one session and be done.
It's not that the resources are hard to get, they just take up soooo much time to get.
Like you said, let's say 5 kits' worth innight of gaming.
That's a pretty low production rate.
And, if the kits actually are valuable and not able to be worked around, there's going to bea lot more of them - until it starts eroding into their value, and suddenly it might become more of a hassle to get the resources.
I don't know, I'm not a big fan of the asteroid mining requirement at all for these kits. I don't find asteroid mining very interesting, especially when I spend hours just to get 3 kits to sell. And, if I have to pay anyone for their hours of work to get the resources, the prices for asteroid materials are way overblown...and I'll make hardly anything when buying the resources to actually make the effort worthwhile.
I might like asteroid mining more if the dang asteroids weren't bugged so they didn't spawn chunks...that above all else makes me hate mining for those kits.

I WOULD PAY 250K FOR A KIT
Wait until they're competitively priced.
And you're telling me you'd pay 250k to repair a Swoop?

Nope... they are toast when disabled. Just delete, cry, and move on.
At first, this is going to be for the "special case" vehicles only: the flash speeder, the BARC, the AV21 and the jetpack. Garages will just allow you to repair those vehicles even if they are disabled.
So we're thinking that the BARC speeder refurb kit should be repurposed to be a "Vehicle Restoration Kit", which could be used (and would be required) to restore any disabled vehicle. Obviously, people wouldn't want to use them for vehicles that are cheap enough to replace, but then you'd be selling the refurb kits to anyone with a BARC, flash speeder, AV21 or Jetpack.
What do you think?
As someone who just got KDd out of his AV-21 and watched it go up in a fireball, I think it's a great idea!

Yes, that's my hidden agenda here: To unify the codepath for vehicle restoration. Currently we have vehicles that cannot ever be re-enabled, some of which can be easily replaced and others which cannot, in addition to a speeder that can be re-enabled with money, plus one speeder that can be re-enabled for free due to a bug, or with a very specific repair kit.
So we want a single coherent system that all vehicles utilize, and none of the "special casing" on a per-vehicle basis. We'd remove the "20k credits option" that restore flash speeders and make them work the same way everything else works.
At the moment I'm driving:
an AV-21
a BARC speeder
a V-35
I can generate a flash speeder when I feel like it if I wanna drive that one for a bit.
Now,.... When you remove the ability for me to pay 20k for getting my flash speeder back, ill be stuck in my datapad with AV-21, BARC, Flash speeder, all paid for by buying expansions and some hard work, without an ability to have a 3+seater for when we have a bigger group, which sometimes would be fun and handy to have available.
In that case (or actually I'd like it anyway) , could we either get more space in datapad for vehicles, or the ability to redeed them into inventory?
Player made vehicles I'm more then willing to buy from artisans to replace, but the special cases would NOT be an option (especially theFlash and Barc, whichI chose to pay for with $), and over time, there are more and more of these special cases (which i love btw).
Hope i'm clear enough onmy concern, thanks for reading

Cleaning up the code and making one system that works for all vehicles sounds great!
Making a disabled vehicle repairable with a special tool also sounds great!
One issue others have pointed out and I would echo is that with the limited space in our data pad and the numerous vehicle options available it would be nice to have either;
- the option to re-deed the vehicle
- more slots for more vehicles in our data pad
As always please make the system crafter friendly so the crafters are not loosing out on a market. Either they make the vehicle or the repair tool to fix it. And I think the one tool that exists now is all we need. Some vehicles should be worth "restoring" others should just be "scrapped" and replaced, just like in RL.
Here are a few other thoughts/ideas;
- Maybe make the re-deeding of a vehicle cost the player credits (like the flash speeder), this would be like owning lots of cars in RL and having to pay a cost to store them when you aren't using them.
- Only working vehicles should get the re-deed option, and to it should be done at a garage not in the field.
- Make a "scrap" option on disabled vehicles (that replaces the re-deed option for a working vehicle) so that a non-working vehicle can be sold for a small amount of credits (maybe to a junk dealer NPC).
- Options such as re-deeding, and restoring vehicles should only be done at a garage and not in the field, in the field the only thing a player can do is mount/dismount, call/store, and destroy.
- Maybe the re-deeding, and restoring can only be done at player city garages so that they are worth more than convenience or decoration), and the service could be taxed (more income sources for PC's)
