Thread: Vehicle Customization: Should it be for Master Artisans to perform or for anyone and everyone?

I dont think i've ever before seen, such an (almost) unanimous thread.
Of course make it anyone can use them. And make Droid kits usable by all as well. Furthermore make both 'paint jobs' last longer. Try 100 count. or choose some other scheam of ware. maby at 75% damage or whatever. Even make it permanent if you want.
Im a DE and I do occaisianally paint customers droids on sale. But its pretty futile. The jobs on my own droids wear off so often I usually dont bother to repaint them. Let alone go hunting for someone else to.
I havnt/wouldnt charge for a paint job. And in any case, one could make more money selling kits if they were actually used more.
Vote here for #2
I've already had a few people ask about the kits and the general impression i got was for them to be able to achieve this themselves, painting them that is. I have no problem with providing a product that has a few charges, for frame and trim i assume like the DE one. It would generate a fairly decent market, and soon people will have the ability to have 1 of each vehicle in their datapad? Oh ya let the sales begin ![]()
As for what TH as said about the DE kit......well i think i understand this from a point of view and will make an assumption/opinion here....

I think it has to do with the general coding involved. Where as an item that is allowed for general use and does not require placing within skill trees and other such checks. The coding will allow its self to be tweaked according for everyone, in other words easy to play with and adjust. But when it comes to something requiring specific check, e.g. the DE custom kit, it alreadys involves certain checks with in the code that may no be very easy to remove and may cause some inherit problems or worse bugs. Its formed itself to a ridged structure that has evolved one might say. It maybe able to be done but could be time consuming and costly. So if the vehicle kit gets changed like the DE one it might be impossible to change it back without major work. Granted I'm not a programmer and I don't understand if this can happen, but I have the opinion it might.
But were it comes to the length of time the paint job lasts that might be easliy adjustable within the parameters, and TH said it would be looked into to increase the time for a droids paint job, hope it does work.

It should remain as is, but PLEASE :
Give us a "view without changes" "view with changes" menu, like ID's have.
Both vehicle customization and droid customization needs this.
I cannot tell you how hard it is when I'm offering to color a droid (which I usually do for free), and someone asks, "What colors do you have?"
Having 60-70 colors on some droids is great - but not being able to give examples without using resources and relying on verbal descriptions of color (green, like Kermit the frog on a bad day...) is just barbaric.
This isn't a "please look into it in a few months" issue - it's a big deal, and is going to be the difference from this being fun and enjoyable for everyone, or a pain in the butt that no one wants to bother with.

#2 !!
I think, the devs can clearly see, at least 95% of the player want Nr 2...

#2, and hope that the end product will show what type of quality of the resource use for crafting the tool example, more charges when high quality resource being use or the paint last longer when high quality resource use.
YES!!!! A very good idea!!!!! Please make it soooooo!

Or why not add the customization tool as an optionnal component to vehicule schematics ?
This way MA wont have to bother selling them as a standalone tool (less pain to maintain their vendor(s) filled with tools).
Then have "customizable vehicles" (the ones crafted with an optionnal customization tool in the final assembly) colorizable in garages by the owner by using an option in the radial menu (like the current temporary menu on composite armors). A fee, like for repairing, can be asked to provide another money sink.
