Thread: Vehicle Customization: Should it be for Master Artisans to perform or for anyone and everyone?

#2

Because it's a sure thing you'll screw it up as bad asdroid customization and it'll need to be reaplied every couple of days. Even with #2 most people won't bother coloring their vehicles because it's too much bother when they fade so fast.

At least with #2 Master Artisans will make some money, some people will want to color their rides. If you implement number one instead nobody will ever bother because nobody will want to track down a MA every couple days, resulting in no money for MA's.

Used to be a MA, but not at the moment.

It seems crystal clear if you are or have ever been an MA. Does the MA Designer not play a MA character?

My vote, if it counts, is #2. Sell kits anyone can use. For all the reasons listed above.

Note that virtually everyone (except for a couple people) that answered this thread are all for #2. It seems it would be a shame to put something in that almost every player thinks is wrong.

I've beenboth a Master Artisan and Master Droid Engineer for a long time now. Go for #2 so that people can paint their own vehicles! Let the vehicle owner paint it themselves the way they want it.

The droid customizationwas a waste of time and resources since about one week after it came out. It's been at least 2 months since *anyone* wanted their droid colorized. Customers would always say "No thanks" after being asked for a free paintjob and telling them it only lasts 20 times. They can't see what colors are available, so you end up using extra charges every time until you get a color they like. I've still got a couple crates of the first droid customization tools that I ever made.

Change the time for how long the paintjob lasts to several days and people might use it for a while.Otherwise, it will be a novelty for the first two weeks and ignored after that. Just like the droid tool has been. There have been too many other droid engineer bugs more serious than this, so the droid customization tool has been ignored and virtually forgotten.

Please don't make the same mistakes with the vehicle customization tool that were made with the droid tools!

#2. master artisans make the kits, anyone can use them. PLEASE make the vehicles hold their paint longer than droids do. I'd love it if the DE paint kits were a salable item, but that's not too likely an occurence.

what? I thought YOU knew how to get the caramilk into the caramilk bar.....

Well that last only a certain amount of time is kinda dumb. If that's even a thought, just make it so only Master Artisans can do it and it be perminent.

You can make it so Master Artisans ONLY can craft the tool to customize the vehicle. Then a player buys the tool and can do as he wishes.

It'd sort of be cool to have a whole profession that's for mechanic/vehicle customizing. For this however it would be a MUST to give players that were to take this profession some extra skill points. Plus it would require being done in a way that not just any and everybody would be taking this up. Maybe say if you took this new profession you couldn't take up x, x, and x profession but you get the extra skill bonus. I mean hey, there are people in game that has no desire to be say a commando or bounty hunter, etc. and fully enjoy the crafting professions.

But this is just a thought.

Give me the chance to paint it myself and I'll get through 3 or 4 tools a week. Make it an MA ability only and I'll do it maybe once a month.

There is much truth in that statement.

Put me down for #2.

Droid colors can be customized?

MA for option 2, if I wanted to be a hands on, touchy-feely person in contact with my customers, I'd be a doctor or an entertainer. I prefer to just send em to my vendor

And ID sessions should slowly fade, leaving you fat and ugly. That would increase the valuability of Image Designers drastically.

Ok, I'm gonna make a prediction here....

I just read 4 pages of responses where not a single MA supported option 1, and every one of them said they do not want to be a "paint contractor" because of the hassle.

So I predict the devs will use option 1.

For the record, I too prefer option 2. My MA character would hate to be bombarded by tells and carry tons of kits and waste tons of time to paint players bikes. My main character (Smuggler), would never bother getting his ride painted if he has to take time to find a MA, travel to them, and know that it will fade soon anyway.

#2 definitely.

#1 sounds like a pain in the rear end.I live in a city of 155 citizens, if #1 goes in, I would spend all my time painting bikes.

Personaly I'd prefer that MA's make the tools and anybody could use. MA's are fairly rare from what I'v seen, most are either powerup/vehicle suplyers or are some eliet crafter that needs MA components and dosent want to chase down a MA every time they need a suply. If these costomizations behave even remotely like the droid ones few will use em due to the effort involved. With droids I had mine costomized once when it first came out just for kicks, sence then it hasnt been worth mine or the DE's time to bother. I'm afraid that the vehicle's will be the same way.

My prefered option would be to just buy a crate of kits and just touch up my speeders when they need it. I'd go back for more when I run out or fill up when I need a new speeder. As long as the kits arnt too costly I wouldnt mind the paint job faiding fairly fast (like droid ones curently). If the kits are expensive then the pain job would need to last longer. I'f you decided to keep it MA only the paint job beter be perminant or close to it (1 month or life if vehicle) because I garentee you no MA will ever get my buisness if I'm havein to track one down every day to touch up my speeder. it just isnt worth that kind of time.
