Thread: Vehicle Customization: Should it be for Master Artisans to perform or for anyone and everyone?
#2
Because it's a sure thing you'll screw it up as bad asdroid customization and it'll need to be reaplied every couple of days. Even with #2 most people won't bother coloring their vehicles because it's too much bother when they fade so fast.
My vote, if it counts, is #2. Sell kits anyone can use. For all the reasons listed above.
#2. master artisans make the kits, anyone can use them. PLEASE make the vehicles hold their paint longer than droids do. I'd love it if the DE paint kits were a salable item, but that's not too likely an occurence.

Give me the chance to paint it myself and I'll get through 3 or 4 tools a week. Make it an MA ability only and I'll do it maybe once a month.
MA for option 2, if I wanted to be a hands on, touchy-feely person in contact with my customers, I'd be a doctor or an entertainer. I prefer to just send em to my vendor

And, using the same logic, a Smuggler should have to adminster spice to people. And a Chef should have to spoon-feed people themselves.
I just read 4 pages of responses where not a single MA supported option 1, and every one of them said they do not want to be a "paint contractor" because of the hassle.
So I predict the devs will use option 1.
For the record, I too prefer option 2. My MA character would hate to be bombarded by tells and carry tons of kits and waste tons of time to paint players bikes. My main character (Smuggler), would never bother getting his ride painted if he has to take time to find a MA, travel to them, and know that it will fade soon anyway.
Personaly I'd prefer that MA's make the tools and anybody could use. MA's are fairly rare from what I'v seen, most are either powerup/vehicle suplyers or are some eliet crafter that needs MA components and dosent want to chase down a MA every time they need a suply. If these costomizations behave even remotely like the droid ones few will use em due to the effort involved. With droids I had mine costomized once when it first came out just for kicks, sence then it hasnt been worth mine or the DE's time to bother. I'm afraid that the vehicle's will be the same way.
My prefered option would be to just buy a crate of kits and just touch up my speeders when they need it. I'd go back for more when I run out or fill up when I need a new speeder. As long as the kits arnt too costly I wouldnt mind the paint job faiding fairly fast (like droid ones curently). If the kits are expensive then the pain job would need to last longer. I'f you decided to keep it MA only the paint job beter be perminant or close to it (1 month or life if vehicle) because I garentee you no MA will ever get my buisness if I'm havein to track one down every day to touch up my speeder. it just isnt worth that kind of time.
