Thread: AV-21 ? What's the big issue?
great!
tho i think the required resources are what should make these kits special. and it's fine by me if they required even more asteroid resources (so, more nightmares
)

Yeah, but nobody's going to ever use these kits if they all cost 250k each. It should be something easily accessible to the consumer, and the producer.
I like the idea of the tiered kits...higher level/more costly to produce kits for the rarer vehicles.
I'd just like to be able to sell a swoop repair kit at a better price than actually selling a swoop - otherwise, why buy the kit and not just a new vehicle, in which case...why do we even the repair kit?
For the rarer vehicles, more rare/expensive resources make sense. But if things are to unified in terms of repair and such, then nobody's going to ever use the kit to fix their Swoop.
Surely introducing repair kits where it's more economical to refurbish an old swoop than it is to get a new one is a reinvention of the wheel? We *have* returning sales on those already, and if the repair kit is going to be cheaper than the swoop, we've shot ourselves in the foot business wise.
And a 250K repair kit is still going to be cheaper than getting a completely new Av-21 or a jetpack.
Exactly. I know I'd certainly pay 250K for an AV-21 repair kit.
I can find Swoops for under 20K. Half the time it can seem like a waste to repair them at a garage even. I'd go out and buy a swoop to replace a disabled one without thinking twice about it, but I'm not about to drive my AV-21 around Dathomir and drop 4-6 Million to buy new ones every time an NPC Nightsister blows up my ride.
How much repeat business can any crafter expect to make off one person's AV-21 purchases? There's rarely more than a couple in stock in the entire galaxy as it is. However, if people ARE encouraged to drive their precious rides around more, the income from repair kits can be substantial.

The Flash Speeder seems to me like a hands-off situation. What would the people that bought the Collector's Edition say if we could suddenly get crafted eyewear? What happens when a JTL pre-order person deletes the Flash Speeder from the datapad? That perk is gone forever?

Nope... they are toast when disabled. Just delete, cry, and move on.
At first, this is going to be for the "special case" vehicles only: the flash speeder, the BARC, the AV21 and the jetpack. Garages will just allow you to repair those vehicles even if they are disabled.
So we're thinking that the BARC speeder refurb kit should be repurposed to be a "Vehicle Restoration Kit", which could be used (and would be required) to restore any disabled vehicle. Obviously, people wouldn't want to use them for vehicles that are cheap enough to replace, but then you'd be selling the refurb kits to anyone with a BARC, flash speeder, AV21 or Jetpack.
What do you think?
THANK YOU!!!
I'm holding on to my dearly disabled jetpack, waiting for this.
I lost it post-CU when a CL26 NPC whacked it with a surprise one-shot, since somehow mobs were suddenly attacking vehicles and killing them with one shot, and I learned this the hard way by surprise with my JETPACK!!!!
Please say its true.

I honestly beleive it would mean more people are going to be using their high-end vehicles instead of swoops and those will gather dust as the backup for when their main vehicle is disabled until they can get to someone selling repair kits or mining the resources themselves for an artisan to turn into a repair kit (what I would do).
As far as /flash generating a new speeder, that is really a separate system all-together from vehicle decay and repair because it just generates a deed that you still have to generate into a vehicle. This could just as easily be stuffed away in the vet rewards system as have it's own command, or share more of the sorosub code (which I'm still stuck with a perma-deed taking up space in inventory).
Another thought was that ship repair kits (another redundant existing system) each fix xxx-damage, and rather than have the kits repair a vehicle fully, they should recover from disabling and fix xxx damage (maybe takes 500 just to re-enable and the rest goes into repair points). Experimentation and quality of materials would then make a difference (even if asteroid materials are all the same). Make it take 4 resources, 2 common resources with slots for optional asteroid resources (which make them repair a LOT more)?

That would benefit everyone all around. The crafters could sell lots of these kits, and the vehicle owners wouldn't have to lose their vehicles.
I like.

I think it's awesome. I have an AV-21 that I rarely ever ride anymore because I'm afraid it's going to get destroyed. Even contemplated selling or trying to trade for a BARC. This would make me very happy.

I think the present speeders are destroyed far tooo easily. If I park it too close to a bounty, he takes out my speeder with a single hit. Lost two the other night not doing anything stupid (like above). All times, it takes one hit (usually for 1000 no matter the level of the NPC) to disable the bike.
Just a thought
