Thread: Artisan FAQ 10/05/03
This will sound very strange...
But many of you have very nice advertisments for your vendors as your signatures here on the forum. How did you add color / change the font / change the font size in your signatures?

If I put my Wind Harvester next to my Personal Mineral Extractor, will the Wind Harvester automatically give the power to my Personal Mineral Extractor? Just trying to save some time and I can't find an answer to this anywhere. Thanks in advance.
Would have been nice

Actually, when you get the slider bar when adding power, I believe it is showing ALL of the Power you are carrying in one big lump. When you add the power, I think it deducts it from the first "stack" of power you have in your inventory.
I am not sure this is quite true. I may have to re run the experiment but I found in the past that only wind, solar, radioactives would go 'into' harvesters as power. For Radioactives the PE effects the amount of actual energy. (see elsewhere in this thread)

Q: Having surveying to lvl 4 makes u get better resources? or it only makes u can get more resources in 1 sample and ur survey tool extend its range?
A: Luck. Get a sample of all the resources you are looking for and write down their stats. These are random resources theoretically taken from a global resource table on the servers. (just a guess) Sites like swgcraft.com have tracking systems that you can help constribute to. Unfortunately sites like this are expensive to maintain.
Q: Having surveying to lvl 4 makes u get better resources? or it only makes u can get more resources in 1 sample and ur survey tool extend its range?
A: Survey 4 grants you range and resolution enhancements and a survey skill bonus. The higher your survey skill the more resource you recover. It doesn't affect the quality of resources recovered.
My question is this...
What do you do about the little dialogue box that pops up when you find another ore (or whatever) where you are sampling something else? I mean, as of right now, I just click it, but it gets annoying. Is there a way to set a default to "no" or something?
Newbie alert !
Just setup a factory for making stims and have my experimented draft schematics and all necessary resources so i started it all up and went off to do something else. Now, while preparing this i read the holocron which states factories produce at a much faster rate than tools but for my first run it took nearly 4 times longer. Any reason why this might be ?
Also, to follow a previous post, do you get crafting XP for using factories ?
2 Newbie questions:
1: How do I add power to my personal harvester.
2: How do I make my house a public building.
Thanks ![]()
A: No, but it's a fair request. Perhaps a skill granted higher up? Please post it on the Bugs / Issues / Wishlist thread if you're interested.
Q: How much experience do you get from factory crafting?
A: Very little to none. You used to get it for sitting next to factories, but that was nerfed. Now you supposedly get experience when you extract the item from the crate... but that means if you sell items by the crate then no exp for you.
Q: Can I cancel or ignore the "exceptional survey event" dialog? (the box that sometimes pops up while you're surveying)
A: No you can't really ignore it or set it to a default, and you get more resources if you follow it's directions. It is a feature that was introduced to discourage AFK play. Short-term issue #4 is fixing the exp bonus for following exceptional events which is currently too low.
Q: How does the game calculate Crafting Experience?
A: It is defined on a per-schematic base... but in general you get 2 exp points per unit of resource. There are items that break this rule of thumb like the current vehicle schematics. If you craft items with subcomponents you may get slightly above 2 exp/unit.
Q: The help-holocron says that factories produce items faster than by hand, but it's taking forever!
A: Factories take 8 seconds per complexity per unit. Unfortunately this means that only very simple items are made very quickly with a factory.
Q: How do I add power to a harvester?
A: It's in the radial menu. You need to have wind, solar, or radioactive power to deposit. If you're starting out you need to buy some from the bazar or make a wind harvester and get some yourself.
Q: How do I make my house public?
A: In the control terminal you will see the option "privacy". It is a toggle function that will change your structure from private to public and back when you use it a 2nd time.
