Thread: Artisan FAQ 10/05/03
Q: If I want to make a factory schematic for an item that has sub-components, do the sub-components have to come from factory crates or can they be individually crafted?
Q: How do you tell what quality is best for experimentation on a given item, or is it possible to do so in game?
Q: Does the quality of a sub-component affect the quality of the end product?
Q: Can you re-use a manufacturing schematic?
Q: Where do you find factories?
Forgive me I have never tried anything related to artisan yet.

Yes, you certainly can re-use a schematic. Bear in mind, though, that a schematic is made from combining a particular set of ingredients, and *only* those ingredients can be used inthat schematic. If you run out of an ingredient and cannot get more, that schematic is now useless.
Q: Where do you find factories?
Factories are made by Architects. Expect to pay a good chunk of change for one...I bought mine long ago and don't recall what they cost, but it seemed like an awful lot at the time LOL

You're forgiven.
Any energy can power any harvester.
Actually, when you get the slider bar when adding power, I believe it is showing ALL of the Power you are carrying in one big lump. When you add the power, I think it deducts it from the first "stack" of power you have in your inventory.
Q: How do I drop down a line when setting a name for my house?
Example: Bob's House
Fine Foods
Great Tools
I have been seeing people with house signs using multiple lines and I was wondering how they are doing that with the ASCII code ?
I believe you needto do it from something that lets you type multiline text (macro editor, /note, etc).
Go to your keymap and bind keys for Copy and Paste if you haven't. Type out the text you want in the editor, Copy it, access your structure management terminal, set name, then just Paste.

How many resources does it take to grind up to master artisan? (setting aside the sampling experience needed to make master)
The engineering, domestic arts, and business lines all require 500 exp for the first rank, 1000 for second, 3000 for third, and 6000 experience for the top rank. Multiplying all that out gives 28,500 general crafting experience needed for Master. Standard pay rate is 2 experience points per resource used. Dividing 28,500 by 2 gives 14,250 resources required for Master.
Now, consider that when you have a critical failure, your resources are used and you get no experience. To simulate this, add another 5% to the total, bringing up the final estimated total to right around 15,000 resources.

Newb Question:
If I put my Wind Harvester next to my Personal Mineral Extractor, will the Wind Harvester automatically give the power to my Personal Mineral Extractor? Just trying to save some time and I can't find an answer to this anywhere. Thanks in advance.
