Thread: Retarded artisans!
Yay!!! I sold 50 bikes for 100K a piece I'm a millionaire!!!
Now what? Hmmmm...
Buy more stuff!!!!!
And then what? Hmmmm...
Why did i start playing this game, and what will a billion, gazillion credits get me?
You must all bow down to me because I am a million gazillion credits player!!!
Yeah OK!!!!
Lets look at reality and the mindset of most peeps playing the game. Their going to buy today to have them first....and leave them out and destroy them at an amazing rate. I started selling at 40k/50k/and 75k. And I was not selling any, so i lowered my price till i began selling. My higher quality bikes, over 85%, the price was firm. The people that rushed to hte major towns and started selling low, set the market price. Also when these bikes go boom, i can bet their going to go back to the person who sold them for a reasonable price. I saw some people selling swoops with 1500 HAM, for 15k a piece, those needed to go in a vendor or into a practice run for XP. But a good retailer not only looks to today, but plans for tomorrow and that is my viewpoint, yes supply and demand are key, but having been mining metals for about a month now, and stockpiling them for today, running 3 equipment factories and making as many vehicles, with high quality as i could, and by making some lower end ones to sell for the guy that wouldnt go any higher, I call that good business sense. Will my resources run out, no. Why because I planned ahead for this. Flame me all you want, but i was going very casual today, and made a little over a mil. But every one of my customers today knew my name and were very happy with my stuff, as well as the price, so you go ahead and place your 100k vehicles on your vendor, theyll collect dust until you get with the program and realize that once that first person yelled out 35k! for a speederbike, that person set the trend.
When people understood that my higher priced stuff was priced that way for a reason, they didnt balk at my price. As far as the creature handlers are concerned, look at it this way, as my other account is a MCH. You can leave your mount out all day and not suffer any loss. If your being attacked, your mount can save your hide. And you dont have to pay to fix it unless you really jack it up and need a vitality stim or stimpack to heal it. The arguement is invalid. I agree it wasnt cool that the CH's took everyone to the cleaners on that first day, but then again no one held a gun to your head and may you pay that price. You didnt have to have one first. Actually I see the MA's, who are selling in the price range of 40k-80kl, are showing the people of SWG that we have more integrity, and that type of honesty will win a customer all the time. Oh by the way, my experience in this, I run a Commercial/Lumber Yard. In that business, a commodity business, you need to be aware of not what your customer is buying today, but what is he gonna buy in a week, or a month.
Let the flames begin.

Selling Vehicles for 5cpu or less isn't the problem. Buying resources for 5 cpu or more is the problem. Get off your asses and mine your own resources and you won't be 'undercut'.
unquote.
We do mine our own resources!. It's morons like you that blew it for us. Thanks bubb.
Then you were lucky. I saw a guy selling them for 20k, no matter the vehicle type!

I have to agree with the original poster on this one. i hit the game first chance and see people selling these for 35-45K.....
In 1 day we go from being the easiest basic profession to grind but at the cost of having a very limited market for our master level goods to being the easiest basic prof to grind but now with a market that consists of 100% of the player base and you complain about not being able to gouge 25cr/unit ??
I'm very happy that we now have a product that everyone wants, and a product with a ridiculously high decay rate that will guarantee us repeat business.
Yep, 2-3 cr/unit is way too low for any crafted item.. but 20-25cr/unit is gouging unless the item is special/rare or has high added value to the consumer ( eg Krayt guns). My guess is that the price for vehicles will stabilise somewhere around the 5-10cr/unit mark, MAs who don't mine will still make a good profit, MAs who mine will make a great profit.
It's folly to compare the money earning ability of an elite combat profession to the money earning ability of the easiest basic prof in the game. For those of us who were MAs without an elite master prof to earn money this patch is a HUGE boost.
What Mounts Do:
They can attack enemies.
They can gallop
They can follow you when you dismount from them.
What Vehicles Do:
They go faster than mounts
Vehicles Vs. Mounts:
Vehicles cannot attack
Top Vehicles have slightly better ham than a mount (Compared to a CH mount, vehicles have less ham)
Vehicles Cost 4 credits per point to repair, Mounts cost 50 credits for food to heal wounds, mind wound healing is free
Vehicles do NOT follow you when you dismount from them
Mounts take days to grow, and have to be trained
Vehicles take 20 seconds to craft/experiment and are usable instantly.
You can fight whil on a mount, you can't fight while on a vehicle.
My point is, I don't agree with the prices CH set, but in the long run, honestly, CH's still have a better product than us. The only thing we offer is speed. Right now, our vehicles are NOT complex, they are just 2 chunks of metal. Any price over 3cpu is a rip off on these vehicles. Now when the next generation of combat vehicles, etc come out, those will be worth 6cpu and higher prices.
My personal favorite of Vehicles vs. Mounts:
"Your mount slows down to prepare for combat"
Your vehicle doesn't know that it just drove past a group of a dozen plains hunters (any of which could have tornyou to shreds)
**Let me think here: If I am out on a survey mission, why do I want to take the risk of dying by being on something that slows down at danger? Hmmm?**

First of all : we artisans have the easy way to riches. Ask some friend or ANY newbie to put 8 windmills BER 9 down that you made. Sell the energy. Split profits. You WILL be millionaire within a month. Tried and tested. You call people retarded just because you are toodumb to figure out the numerous ways to get rich in this game ?
Second : Sell people vehicles for 5 cpu. Use good materials. I sold 60 vehicles. And have 40 orders more from the same customers. You may get money on day 1. I will get money from it the next 2 years. From the same customers. Go eat your heart out.
Third: I WANT this game be populated with vehicles. All good vehicle manufacturers I know are NOT in it for the money. We want this game to change from P0kemon to Star Wars, as depicted in the busy streets scenes of Mos Eisley in the Revised Edition.
If you want to be rich, go holocron hunting ... (or see above, loser)
or just
Have fun

Hmm I sold 350 vehicles yesterday for 55k each. I made approx 6.7 cpu on average. I generally end selling my bulk resources to a big name on naboo for 5 or less CPU, so in my eyes I made a very very good profit.
Now with that being said, I had originally intended to sell at 90k to 100k per unit. However the market was already setting at a low price very early. NEarly 30k per vehicle at the server reboot, so what is a person to do? Not sell at all and not recoup any money and perhaps not have a chance at making a profit at all or sell at a resonable profit? I chose the latter and make a very nice piece of money.
As far as compairing us to CH's and pets, I can manufacture 1 swoop every 180 sec's I believe and carry what almost 1000 in my Inventory? How many pets can a CH carry? Also was there an alternate mode of transportation to chose from at the time of mount release? Nope there was not, So you chances of high prices are already at a troublesome point.
Sony intended the vehicles to be cheap and easy to make, so that more people could aquire them. I see no reason to sell anything above 10 cpu with the exception of pain in the behind items to make or gather resources for like BIO tissues, complex weaponsmith products, and complex architect items.
The truth is, if you can't compete with the mine it yourselfers don't sell vehicles. It gives all the artisens that care for their clients a bad name because your gouging at 20 cpu. for something that costs maybe 10375 total to make.
