Thread: Question for Wednesday, May 5th
making harvesters usable only by artisans would do some serious damage to many crafters who have 2nd accounts.. one account is the crafter, the other has lots that can be used for harvesters. basically it damages my noncrafter by forcing me to suck up sp to keep at least novice artisan so i can place harvs. therefore i give that one a HUGE vote no.
I have to disagree with you on this one. I have two accounts. My first one is graf, and second one is blutigfaust. Blut is a BH and uses his lots for buildings, therefore FREEING UP any building lots that graf needed. That gives graf 10 lots for harvesters.

I also have 2 accounts, each has one medium house that leaves me with 16 lots for harvesters. If they were to implement this it would be, either,1)very catistrophic to the economy where artisans would know that they could charge anything they wanted to get, or 2) you would see everyone becoming an artisan. I think it would be #2, and even within my guild everyone says if they were to implement this they would all go some sort of artisan.
I am a master artisan, and I for one can't see why everyone is pushing for something like this. If it passes I would expect all prices to skyrocket so stock up on anything before it goes thru, I for one will stop selling to anyone with the exception of guildmates and friends.
the main question on my mind is.
What is being done to involve noncombatants [artisans] more in the GCW?
1) It is our belief that the ability to use harvesters should be certified to artisans with the level of harvester dependent on the level of Survey skill. Can this happen?
Maybe asking why it's not possible if they say no.

Otherwise you you get "it is not possible to do at this time"
Thanks

Ok, time to prepare for submission!
Um. Of the question. (what were you thinking?)
Anyway, I see a main theme in this thread: Certifying Harvesters
A suggested question is below. Please comment, change, offer alternatives, etc. I want to send the question in by 5pm EST tomorrow, May 4th.

Take care,
IF they were to do something like this I would rather it be set up like vendors, in which you start out being able to place 2, then as you go up in the survey tree you can place more.
I STILL THINK THIS WOULD BE THE WORST MISTAKE OF THE GAME. And most of our guild is only going to be doing things for the guild and no one else.
CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THIS WOULD WOULD BE GOOD FOR THE ARTISANS. I got artisan to craft not to be a resource broker.

i don't think it would be very good for artisans.
i think what would be a better solution would make the survey line more like the merchant vendor line.
make having the survey line give discounts on harvestor maintenance/powerconsumption.
eg.
Survey II
reduced harvester fees 25%
Survey IV
reduced harvester power consumption 25%..
i think something along these lines would be much better than harvester certifications..
i haven't found the actual image yet but i found al old IGN SWG faq
Farmer
This elite profession combines skills from the farming and facility management disciplines. A player in this profession can grow plants and animals for foods and medicines.
Miner
This elite profession combines skills from the mining and facility management disciplines. A player in this profession can extract valuable resources from the environment.
if that doesn't yell harvestor certification i don't know what does.. (meaning they are the ones that can do it)..

OK, so when a surveyor with survey 4 drops a harvestor on an 80% concentration, he gets a bonus added to the concentration. Lets say, pushing it to 85-87%????
What do you think?
Its not so much a certification as it is a bonus and we will still make out in the end.
I would rather have a bonus than certification. It would still be lucritive to be an artisan but it would not alienate the rest of the people.
If this change is considering to go live, I would think that they should ask the ENTIRE GAMING COMMUNITY not just those of us who are on the forums, if you do not, when it goes live you will have a ton of tickets from people that had no idea about the change.
Hmm...
Reading all these posts i have toadmit that both those for certification and those against have some good points.
Yeah anything above personal minershould be certified, ending with heavy at survey IV. Another feature should be that you get more lots as u get a higher rank, just as merchant. By saying that i mean that when you have a combat prof u dont need all the 16 lots. Lets say you start with 8...? and get more lots as you climb the survey tree. With a 8 lot you would be able to place a house and some harvesters for gathering resources. In this way the hotspots wouldn't be occupied so quick and artisan would be more interesting. Someone here said that all people will do, is get the skill tree and then drop it. Well I'm Master Artisan and Master Doctor, I'm not interested in dropping the few combat skills i got to get scout...I really could use scout, but i have to buy my resources for medsinstead. (and some sell at high cpu!) The same scenario would probably appear if certification is introduced, but whats wrong in Artisans making some cash too?The best payed profession is without doubt a combat proffession. The only difference is that mining resources are a lot easier to gather in large quantities, therefor the prices wouldn't fly high. Imo Master Artisan is a nogood profession at the moment.
With those modifications prices on vehicles would raise too, but at the moment everyone has one. Vehicles should be expensive to buy, they're not like buffs, wich have about the same price these days, that lasts 2 - 3.5 hours and wear off when u die. Yeah new players would have a problem getting them in the beginning, but if the stats on vehicles would show, theres no problem selling low-end vehicles too.
I probably forgot some good points while writing this...
