Thread: Looping Macro

Guys guys guys guys..... you're overlooking one very important thing.

You've defined /mac1 /mac2 /mac3.. etc.. /mac 9 already you really only need 1 or 2 of them defined anyways... no need to clutter up the loop.

Wouldn't it be better to just do one like this? (ignore the actual content (ie., /sample) and whatnot)

mac1: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240;
mac2: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240;
mac3: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240;
mac4: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240;
mac5: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240;
mac6: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240;
mac7: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240;
mac8: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240;
mac9: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240;
/mac1;
/mac2;
/mac3;
/mac4;
/mac5;
/mac6;
/mac7;
/mac8;
/mac9;
/mac1;
/mac2;
/mac3;
/mac4;
/mac5;
/mac6;
/mac7;
/mac8;
/mac9;

etc.. etc.. copy paste the /mac's about 500,000,000 times.

If I understand it correctly, all the top portion of the macro is doing is defining aliases and then the bottom commands are calling those aliases that were defined above. You don't need to load the definitions everytime. Once defined, just call them and copy/paste as many times as you want.

Seems like this would work.. perhaps it's already been discussed.. just not on this thread. Anyways.. good luck.

btw, to the dorks that think this is an exploit, go back to AC1. Why do you think macros were put in the game in the first place? It's only natural that they'll be explored to their utmost potential. Afterall, why, if they didn't want us to use the macros, would they tag nearly EVERYTHING in the game with a command that can be typed. /command's are in the game, so is the macro editor... get over it.

Actually.. even better..

mac1: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac2;
mac2: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac3;
mac3: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac4;
mac4: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac5;
mac5: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac6;
mac6: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac7;
mac7: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac8;
mac8: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac9;
mac9: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac1;

There's the endless loop right there...

did anyone think of trying to make 2 entirely different macros? make marcoA.txt and MacroB.txt, and then load BOTH of them, then have A call B, and B call A. can someone try this, or ig uess, ill go about doing it

What's really funny with all this is that after they changed it to 25sec between samples, I don't need to rest at all between. I've left if on over night just sampling and it works fine! good bye macro! hello resources! but i guess this really depends on your character, I'm a rodian with survey 4 and engineering 3.

Are you guys posting your actual macros? Some people can really only sample for 240 seconds without rest?

Before the last patch, I could only sample for about 35 minutes before resting...after the last patch, not only do I never have to rest while sampling, but I will regen slowly if I am low.

That idle kickout thing sucks, tho.

Well...i'll throw in my opinion too...

Macroing allowed or not...sampling IS boring and
takes time. Espec if you are aiming for high end
status as a weponsmith....or what ever. You need
a LOAD of materials...so you can grind your skills up.
So why cant we be allowed to read a book or watch TV while we are sampling? We just sitting there watch our
character sample 95% of the time you are on line?

How about making us surveyers able to play tetris or minesweeper ingame while we wait? EQ has/had gems....
cmon.... =)

To set him up sampling while you go to bed....lets say for
8 hours... is on the edge ya...but imo...go ahead.

My macro lasts for about 2 hours.
I made it ingame in the "regular" way.
( in the macro box menu )
It reads:

/sample;/pause 600;/stand;/sit;/pause 120;/stand;/

I retyped this line many times making it last for about
2 hours. If you retype it 500 times it should run for days.
A 2 hour macro works fine atm but when i hit engineer 4 i probably need alot more materials...so maybe i'll give the aliases a go =)

Actually.. even better..

mac1: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac2;
mac2: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac3;
mac3: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac4;
mac4: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac5;
mac5: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac6;
mac6: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac7;
mac7: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac8;
mac8: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac9;
mac9: /sample; /pause 240; /sit; /pause 240; /mac1;

There's the endless loop right there...

If it does loop, why would you go all the way to mac9? Why wouldn't mac2 just call mac1 and you'd say yourself some typing.

Hey guys . . . I keep getting the "FAILED to load aliases" error.

Anyone have any ideas on why some of us are getting this after following the instructions you've posted?

I don't know what it is you're trying, but I used the samples given here and they worked fine. I have a "MyMacros.txt" in my SWG folder and I type:

/load MyMacros.txt

Works fine.

Please post your text file your using and how you have your macro's made in SWG. From what you have said so far, it's most likely how you have your text file set up.
