About the macroing How can we get in trouble for using what thay gave us? Thay gave us ingame macro.

I realy can see them giving us something then when we use it thay say HEY you can't do that bye bye account!! Come on think about it. As far as the load aliases macroing I think thats just a bug that SOME people can do right now But will be fixed soon.

Well, you pretty much answered yourself when you stated that you do not in fact know how Sony or SWG feels about it. That little admittance to ignorance should clue you in right there.

But for kicks, I'll address your concern in regards to the end user agreement that you apparently did not read.

What we're doing here is discussing means and methods or automating one of the most boring, inane, and annoying of things that us artisans have to do. We're discussing how to do this using the tools provided by us by the game. We are in no way modifying, changing, or altering the client, the server, or how data is transmitted between the client and server, or the data itself. Nor are we discussing using any 3rd party tools.

We are have a prefectly acceptable discussion using the tools provided to us by our lords and masters at Sony. You sir, are being a busy body and probably got beat up at lot in elementray school for being a taddle tale. A lesson that apparently didn't stick.

Now then . . .

With your alias.txt file (or whatever you named it), you must use proper DOS pathing to declare where it's actually at for the game to find it. For example, if you put your alias.txt file in the root of the C: drive, the the command /load c:\alias.txt will work. If you put it somewhere else, then you need to declare that in the command, like c:\wherever\whenever\whatever\alias.txt

I just plopped mine in the root directory, so I haven't tested long path names or truncated path names. They might work, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Also, remember that the game will drop your connection after you've been inactive after an undetermined length of time. Make sure you shake your mouse and click on something once in a while. Doesn't do any good to have a 20 hour macro if you only get to use an hour of it.

Placement of the text file is proally best if you use the SWG folder. That's where I keep mine and have no problem typing /load textfile.txt Don't have to worry about path issues that way.

Not sure what might be your problem, but here is the text file I load. It should give me about 13 hours, that is includingresting time, of sampling, but I've never ran it to the end, usually I'm booted off by patch time or for some other reason.

Just copy and paste that into notepad, adjust the pause times to work for your toon and save it to your SWG folder. Is kind of a pain that we just can't use a single line and have it reference back to the begining, but when ever you reference back to a previous line, the system bails on you and returns a error message saying something about Anti Aliasing recursion guard hit, stopping operation. Or words to that effect.

Macroing was talked about in beta and thou never saw the post, I've been told that it was decided, by Sony and friends, that it wasn't an exploit. As it stands, I would also think that if this was looked upon by Sony as something not intended, then one of the fourm moderators would have jumped in and said something about it by now. So untill someone from Sony comes and say's other wise, happy macroing

Hi all - Figured that I might as well throw my $.02 in...
And this is stuff that I absolutely learned from this thread...

1. You're right - you do need proper DOS pathing.
2. It will log you off after some 'random' point in time...

This is my setup.
2 Macros: sampleon.txt and sampleoff.txt

I have F11 and F12 mapped on my Function key (bar#4 because that's where all my other sample/survey/mining stuff is).
F11 = Sampleoff.txt
F12 = Sampleon.txt

Now, the actual text files are as follows:
sampleon.txt is - dave1: /toggleawayfromkeyboard; /stand; /pause 5; /sample; /pause 800; /sit; /pause 90; /stand;
sampleoff.txt is - dave1: /abort;

/abort is an UNKNOWN command to SWG (so it could be any unknown characters there)

Now, F11 (sampleoff macro) is as follows:
/load e:\sampleoff.txt;
/dave1;

F12 (sampleon macro) is as follows:
/load e:\sampleon.txt;/dave1;/pause 900;/dave1;/pause 900;/dave1;/pause 900; etc....

In the 'txt' file you need the pauses to 'do the stuff'
In the macro you need the pauses to 'pause the macro'. And, remember, the pause must be as long or longer than the actual .txt file pauses.

So, my text file = 895 in pauses.
My macro = 900 in pauses.

Obviously, tweak as needed, but it works well for me (and others).

And, again, I was NOT the person who created this stuff - so I must thank EVERYONE who did (and you know who you are).

It's just the grind of sampling is, truly, a grind...

I copyed your macro and put my macro.txt in the swg folder and i still can get it to load I type load macro.txt

and it saids FAILED to load Im giving up (

Okay, in your SWG folder, create aliases.txt. In that text document, you create your macro. Do NOT name it SA. I named it MySample.

I see various ways people have found to mine. I don't like letting it run that long, but a much simpler on, which is great for sitting around in camp crafting/healing/BS'ing

/sample;/pause 300;/sit 115;/stand;/sample

adjust according to the server load, since the timer and stat heal rate is based on your machine and sampling is based on the server. Increase the numbers on a slow/loaded server, decrease on an empty server.

Leaving your computer to run all day is not too nice, since you are taking up a spot without actually playing. I can see some enforcementoccurring on servers that are constantly full. Use it judiciously, but don't be greedy about it.

and another 2 credits worth here...

the 'random' kickoff time is because everytime you log on the auto-AFK option is set on for 10 minutes. It seems to be the policy to kick AFKers which is fine. So turn off the auto-AFK and don't use /afk yourself. Then run your macros all day long if you like. I personally used notepad to copy/paste the basic /sample/pause/stand/sample macro about 500+ times into a txt file. then I load that txt file and run the macro. No Looping is involved so no recursive alias detection is called. And it would run for roughly a month of sundays before it reaches the end as it encompasses a time span of 1000 units.

I'm trying this, but the macro doesn't show up in my in-game list. It says it's loading the file and all.

Am I missing something in the text file to have it create the macro when it loads the file?

You're not loadinga 'macro' per se.
It's really an alias.

So, for me, I have 2 text files, surveyon.txt and surveyoff.txt

Surveyon is /mac1: do something; something else; pause; etc...
Surveyoff is /mac1: /nosuchcommand;

After you 'load' the alias command (for me it's /load e:\surveyon.txt) you type in /alias at the command prompt and that will tell you what's loaded (and what things are aliased)

As a side note, I have changed NOTHING on my system.
I had my alias/macro for surveying/sampling run ALL night last night (7/6 - 7/7).

Not sure if anything changed on server side, but nothing changed on client side - that's for sure.

You won't see a macro in your macro list, if your typing ctrl-a. The macro you load is just a temp macro, only usable for that current logon session. Once you log off, it's gone and you have to reload it the next time you want to use it.
