Nope... they are toast when disabled. Just delete, cry, and move on.
At first, this is going to be for the "special case" vehicles only: the flash speeder, the BARC, the AV21 and the jetpack. Garages will just allow you to repair those vehicles even if they are disabled.
So we're thinking that the BARC speeder refurb kit should be repurposed to be a "Vehicle Restoration Kit", which could be used (and would be required) to restore any disabled vehicle. Obviously, people wouldn't want to use them for vehicles that are cheap enough to replace, but then you'd be selling the refurb kits to anyone with a BARC, flash speeder, AV21 or Jetpack.
What do you think?
Wish I would have known this before. My AV-21 was destroyed during my paddy trials.
But I understand there was no way, but from now on I will remember to keep those darn expensive things just in case.

yes but the swoop biz is replaced with a swoop repair biz, either way an artisan is making the profit. Besides the kits will most likely be prohibitively expenseive compared to the price of a cheap bike. Its a win win for artisan either way

Would be the single greatest change to SWG since JTL.
No joke.
I'd have a lot more fun if I could fly my jetpack around or use my AV-21 regularly. Post-CU the aggros on vehicles have been much tougher, and it's silly that we have these vehicles that take a great deal of work to accquire yet can only be used when messing around in non-factioned NPC cities for fear of one shot taking out something worth millions (and in some cases tens of millions).

As long as the resource requirements make it cost-prohibitive to spend money on a repair kit rather than buy a completely new "mundane" vehicle, I don't see a big problem with it.
However, I worry that it will cut into the AV-21 and jetpack market.
On Gorath, AV-21's generally sell for 2+ million and honestly I've never seen a price for a completed jetpack but the components sell for more than that individually.
BARC repair tools, however, tend to start in the 250k range.
If people can buy something to fix their existing AV-21 for 250k, sales of the more expensive new vehicles will come to a complete halt. At that point, you've removed the risk from the equation and nothing remains but the reward. The only way to balance it back would be to make the components for them (and jetpacks) easier to acquire and assemble. When the components for the vehicles can be acquired as easily as the components for the repair tool, you will have achieved that equillibrium.

I think it's a wonderful idea. A lot of people don't use their AV-21s or jetpacks, especially in a pvp situation because those are going to be the first things targetted. Even in pve, they are risky to use (Nightsisters just LOVE to blow up vehicles). Having a way to recover them would be absolutely grand, and we might see more of the expensive ones out there.

Great Idea. That's the only reason I've never bothered to obtain the AV21 or the Jetpack, to easily destroyed with no way to repair. Eagerly looking forward to this one.

I love the idea, as I am a bit of a collector... the only "special" vehicle I do not have is the jetpack.
However... I do not feel that the barc should be made such a high-cost repair. The reason I decided not to do the digital download was because when it comes to vehicles or mounts... vehicles win. I would like to see the barc remain a wonderfully unique item, in that it could still be repaired at a garage (maybe even at a cost of 20k)
Now, keep in mind that I would still buy a few of these kits for my AV-21, and for the Jeypack I will eventually get.

Yes, that's my hidden agenda here: To
coronula wrote:You can already

unify the codepath for vehicle restoration. Currently we have vehicles
that cannot ever be re-enabled, some of which can be easily replaced
and others which cannot, in addition to a speeder that can be
re-enabled with money, plus one speeder that can be re-enabled for free
due to a bug, or with a very specific repair kit.
So we want a single coherent system that all vehicles utilize,
and none of the "special casing" on a per-vehicle basis. We'd remove
the "20k credits option" that restore flash speeders and make them work
the same way everything else works.
