Thread: why is it...

not that im taking the Jedi side or anything but, you probably have more XP then the hologrinders have had, but after spending mind numbing hours leveling jedi to find out that it can be easily beaten by almost any melee class that takes 2-3 days to level compared to the months required to achieve knight status is not something that many people want to see
oh you mean like a bh grinds inv xp just to find out that the marks thay get to hunt at inv 3 and the ones that give best xp can block 85% of your shots? oh ya i see what your saying
You need to read up on Pub 10 my friend. After next Tuesday anyone can unlock FS through FS quests and move on to Jedi and move up the Jedi tree through quests. No more Hologrinding through 30+ professions to unlock. They say they are going to make the penalties and pluses for being a Jedi according to rank. But mark my words, after pub 10 you will see a definite increase in the low level Jedi population as anyone will be able to unlock FS with relative ease.

I see it in the reverse, the jedi are suppose to be powerfull, thus you grind alot, apparently the "REAL" reason it takes alot of effort, is to discourage eveyone from becomming a jedi, for those who REALLY want to be one, theywill grind that long, and thus deserve it.
I did 3 holos myself and decided it was not worth it, just 3 professions.
Apparently now you see jedi every where, i know why. Because most people who play most online games want to be "better" than everyone (define that one anyway you want). also most of the other professions have thecombat inbalance (thus the devs know this) and throw in those few who just became a jedi, because they were simply bored and wanted to do eveything.
Look there is no combat inbalance being a jedi, lol, when you can just smoke eveyone else? heh
I think after publish 10 AND after the combat revamp, you will see less jedi, and more people will find it more enjoyable to be a Master BH and Master Carbineer, like myself.
Right now their is every incentive to become a jedi, just one thing, the grind for it keeps a few away as it is, as it is for me anyways.
But like I said above, add all the reasons to become a jedi, and the total amount of people that play, and it seems like a "normal" number of jedi we all see with how the game plays "currently" now.
I disagree, the monthly fee is for the upkeep of the game servers and new content, etc. The patches and fixes is what we all paid for ahead of time when we purchased the game.

I suppose this issue is all based on opinion.Effortor monthly fee. We'd need an official DEV statement to understand what they intended. My opinion, though, is thatwe pay the monthly fee tocompensate the DEVs forspending time to create updates and fixing bugs(they actually do, contrary to the belief of majority of the playerbase), and if you can't cope with the fact thatcertain professions currently get more attention than others (true or not),that the end-game goal for most people is Jedi, andthat someone whogrinded through more levels has more power than you, thenyou can cancel your account. Eventually, after JTL, the DEVs will begin to focus on the professions a lower amount of players have, and balance everything out. We'll just need patience.
Another opinion I have is that TheRetardFoundationmade this postjust to tick a few people off and start a little flaming and contradiction. He hasn't responded to the thread,so he's probably sitting back and havinga laugh while people argue over a posthe never intended to be constructive.
But just in caseheis a newbie and not just using a new forum account, thenI'll answer his very simple question.
"Why is it that any question to the jedi about why they think they deserve so much power equals to 'I had to grind for 6 months to get it?' "
Well, because they did. Spending 6 months in a game grinding through professions you didn't want todo deserves some recognition.
I'm done here. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, as that was not my intention.

Now why couldn't I have said it that good.
When you have a massive online game that involves thousands of people at one time, you cannot give one select group everything, you cannot make that one select group godlike and have the rest of the people have to just sit back and deal with it. The whole jedi concept of being unique and powerfull could have worked, except for the fact that every other person and their brother wanted to be a jedi or else just wanted to be the most powerfull thing around and own everyone.
And honestly saying that grinding proffessions to get jedi is earning it? I dont see how, everyone grinds, everyone has to do things in the game they dont want to, to advance its part of the game. And funny thing is that I keep reading post on how you can grind any proffession in less then 2 days... well even 32x2=64 so thats just over 2 months, no where near the 6 months of solid 23 hour a day grinding I kept hearing...
And to the person who posted how I have not responded to my previous post... This may seem like a wierd concept, but I do not live, eat and breath this game nor the boards, I have full time work, and a full time family I cannot sit here clicking refresh, nor do I feel like spending my life on a computer, when I have time, or when it is convenient I will post replies or messages.

Yup, it could have worked... If the Devs would have left well enough alone and left permadeath in the game.

Once again I stick to my earlier statement. If they don't like having to spend 6 months grinding through professions they didn't want to then don't play Jedi. Don't come to the forums and goose step around stating that your six months of effort is any better or desrves better treatment than my six months of effort spent on a different profession. We all paid to play this game no matter what profession, and as such we all deserve the same respect, time, and energy from the devs, regardless of what professionwe play.
I'm posting one more time to clarify things...
By patches, I meant patching in ofcontent, and by fixes, I also meant upkeep of servers.
I don't remember saying anything to contradict your statement about not playing Jedi if you don't like it. I just suggegested that if you really havehigh expectations for your profession, you should try to add some constructive ideas on your forum.
I never said that a Jedi's effort is more or less important or deserves more recognition. The professions should all get the same amount of attention, I agree. There is no DEV statement statingthat they are focusing on Jediwhichknow of, however. Just because they had a patch forJedi does not mean that the DEVs are focusing on them alone. No one really knows for sure.

As far as that statement, It wasn't directed specifically at you.
As far as the Devs stating they are or are not focusing on Jedi, you need to go back and read all the announcments, specifically the ones where the Devs stated that the next 3 (?) major publishes will be devoted, for the most part, to the Jedi revamp. They also stated that the Jedi revamp would probably be the biggest of all the profession revamps because they were basically starting the profession over from scratch.

recap> time meant to defer everyone from being a jedi; that is why it takes long. You CHOOSE to become a jedi and to go through all that work. This doesnt endow you with uberness, or priority over other professions.
