Thread: Hint at vehicle combat coming after Pub 17?

Well, if these suggestions prove to be true, I'm not sure what to think.


On the one hand, Master Artisans were happy to be able to craft vehicles when they were finally added, but were underwhelmed at the schematic: you bang two big chunks of metal together, and you only get to experiment for condition points. El yawno. So making vehicle assembly more detailed (as the Shipwrights have)would help to improve the crafting game for Artisans-- and that's a Good Thing.


On the other hand (and again, that's if all these suggestions are true), once again a change is apparently only worth making if it's combat-related. Making crafting more fun generally? Naaaaaaaaah -- it only counts if it gives combat players more fun things to do.


Sigh.


I like the idea of vehicular combat; I've said so and I still think so. But why does absolutely everything have to be about combat? This singleminded insistenceon permitting onlychanges thatenhancecombat is making SWG boring -- it's becoming a one-note song.


And yet, even thoughthis would reallybeyet another love note to combat players, it would also give Artisans something more interesting to do.


So I'm conflicted. If this is true, I don't know whether to cheer or grumble.


Maybe I'll do both.

Yeah that would be very nice to use vehicles more tactically; in that sense, I just hope passenger vehicles are being the first step.

If this is true, then I dont see why we cant have MP vehicles such as an AT-AT walker and the like.


Only problem is that the worlds are to small now, unless you got rid of player cites and houses everywhere.

They will probably simplify this but I would hope to see the following...


Hull - Artisan crafted

Weapons - WS crafted

Armor - SW crafted (didn't do AS crafted because I see these using identical stuff as the ships currently do)

Capitor and other related components - SW (see above reason)



However I imagine that SOE will put weapons under SW as well since they already exist, I would like to see them crafted by WS's because I see the ground weapons being different than space weapons. There may be a few other components that I would put under Artisan, more specifically the "reactor" as we know it. I could easily see the speeders using a different style or type of power supply than the significantly larger starships. Of course the other option I potentially see SOE taking would be to simply make everything for them crafted by an Artisan, which I wouldn't particularly mind, but I would like to see the specific components come more from relative professions than all from the profession that makes the main item.

i just hope vehicles get a FUEL bar!

i mean why the heck do we have to watch the vehicle's condition grind downwards all the time?

the condition should go down very slowly, but the fuel should be something we have to refill once in a while.


and Artisans should be the ones to craft fuel cells for vehicles. they'd be no different from droid batteries.

I hope we get Combat Vehicles.


If you read the thread in my sig, lets see post 5 or 6 is about Combat Vehicles, and my ideas have them built much like Starships, with new professions to match...Combat Vehicle Engineer ( in my idea noncombat vehicles remain the province of Artisans) and Combat Vehicle Driver ( the driver works like pilot does now )

I see it coming. It's really the only thing that will bring the ground war into full realism.

It will probably come the same time as the mount revamp.

Mmm.. imagine being able to actually GET INTO your AT-ST's.

Let them be Droid Batteries. They will have less code to create and makes batteries that much more important. I'm sure speeders have a droid brain or something in them so it's not too far of a stretch.
