Thread: what did you sell vehicles for on YOUR server opening day?
I started the day at:
Land Speeder-65k
Speeder Bike-75k
Swoop-90k
Note these were for the "must have first" buyers and pretty much within the first 20 minutes of the server coming up. I put several on my vendor at these prices after I logged early in the afternoon and had to restock it after I got home from work.
When I restocked I changed my pricing to:
Land Speeder-35k
Speeder Bike-50k
Swoop-65k
My vendor still has a couple of each last time I checked (I just logged a few minutes), but I sold everything I had in my inventory and had to make some more several times throughout the evening. Surpising number of people buying 2 or 3 at a time.
To start with I decided not to compete against the undercutters and waited them about about 4 or 5 hours, then went for 30k/35k/40k. I did a lot of repeat business and multiple orders at those prices, but the most surprising thing to me was that most people wanted speederbikes and X34s, my highest margin items. I had a fewchancers tell me they could get a swoop for 15k in Theed or someplace, but none of them seemed able to explain why they hadn't bought them and why they were talking to me in Mos Eisley. ![]()
One thing I have noticed is that there's lots of comparison of vehicle prices with the equivalent bazaar price of the required resources, but have you tried making 400,000 off the bazaar from resources in 3 hours? It's kind of tough with that 25 item limit. Sure over time you can make a ton of money if you've lots of resources, but I'd rather sell a swoop at 5cpu out of my inventory than mess with the bazaar.
Now I have an R5 with a crafting station I'm quite looking forward to meeting some stranded travellers who didn't maintain their vehicles and got them disabled 10km from the nearest town ![]()
What really irks me, is that some people are saying that their bikes were destroyed (actually gone away, not in datapad anymore)after just a few hit from creatures they drove past. Are some artisans making these out of grinding material? I was out chasing some of the falumpsets, and actually got knocked off of my bike, and it hardly got scratched.
My husband and I went out dirt-biking with a swoop and speeder. Oh, was that fun!
Ok. Aboves the proof. Guys sit around for 4 hours hawking vehicles for next to nothing. The resources used in making them, (and they do take a fair chunk of resources) could have been sold for more than that on an auction in these fine forums. Time spent for that : 5 minutes as opposed to 4 hours. Yeah you made 1.3 million credits, but if you people were smart you could have made 5-6-7 million credits easily. You sold about 35 vehicles I assume. What a large chunk of resources!
People whined that they sold them for low prices because they mined for the stuff. My heavy mineral extractors cost 120000 credits. Then I have to spend the time surveying for the minerals. Then I have to buy the power to run them. Let's think a little smarter, people.
People are saying oh, it's good business sense tosell lowand get repeat customers. For those of you who said that, please don't dabble in the stock market in real life. You will lose your shirt with an attitude like that.
These are some of the reasons I was utterly disgusted by the Master Artisans attitude towards vehicle prices on opening day, and didn't sell one vehicle. I gave them away to my guild mates instead. Your resources will soon run out, silly people, and hopefully there will still be people in the market for vehicles.
What a sad day it was for us all. By the way do any of you have a holocron I can buy for 40000 credits (sarcasm).
lol funny.
Currently I have running:
2 Solar Generators on a spot of 87% solar
6, Base 10 Medium Mineral Miners on 92% Steel (850 Shock Resist too)
5, Base 10 Medium Mineral Miners on 78% Aluminum (700 Shock Resist)
Now I'm a master merchant, so I get a 20% reduction to all maintnence costs. With my base 10's, I'm roughly collecting 20k resources from each harvester for 1,000 credits a day. Do the math. Let's see, 6 steel harvesters, times 20k = 120,000 steel for the cost of 6,000 credits. Now if anyone is curious, that's .05 credits / 1 unit of resource. Basically, 5 cents per 1 unit. I could be nice, and figure power into my cost equation, so 40k power a day, at 3k to power my solar generators. That makes my cost .1 per 1 unit of resource. And yes, I do not charge for my time.
Now in case you are curious, I'm a master architect, master merchant, master artisan. Now you know why I can compete with extremely low prices, and still make an extremely hefty profit. Plus, ripping people off is not the "moral" way to go.
lol yea, my player city has vehicles all over the place. They need to fix the store bug.
"I'm holding off for a day or so till all the dabblers run out of resources. I'll clean up then.
"
Hmm You'll have to wait a while for me then, I can dig approx 1.5 million resources per week, and started into the vehicle buisness with 2 million resources stockpiled, I mine my own power, make my own harvestors, make my own ion generators. I used to sell my resources in an auction for 4 cpu or 5 cpu, now I'm making 6.5 cpu selling a product I made myself, gaining customer base, gaining free mining waypoints, free lot use. I made more yesterday when you add all this up than my entire time playing this game.
P.S. I Sold all my 90 thru 92 percent vehicles for 55k and sold out. X34's sell the slowest btw

I just have to say as a Master Merchant with 10, Base 10 mineral miners, I can collect resources at 30 units of resource per 1 credit, sometimes less if I'm on a spot above 80%. A lot of us aren't dabblers, but persons wanting to prevent the rip-off ofand creature handler tactics used against other players. These vehicles are starter vehicle, a mere introduction to what will come within the next year. They are not complex, just 2 chunks of resources that take you 20 seconds to assemble and sell. For those of you that think these are worth more than 30k for a swoop, you are just misleading people and ripping them off, just my opinion. But before you call people dabblers, undercutters, etc etc, remember that we can turn around and call you rip-offs, liars, etc etc.
I'm not a dabbler since I took Master Artisan to help with my medical resource supply business. I was selling my vehicles for about 5cpu (Landspeeder - 25K, Speederbike - 30K, Swoop - 40K). This is not a rip-off since alot of resource suppliers sell the resources alone for up to 6cpu (because of holo grinders). I was even paid more for a vehicle than I asked, is this ripping someone off? I didn't head off to a busy starport to spam that I was selling vehicles. I liked where I was, and friends that know came to buy from me. When setting your price for vehicles, you need to think of 2 things, your cost of resources, and what your time is worth. Some people think their time is worth more than others, you can't change that. Eventually the market will decide what vehicles are worth. FYI, with experimenting it takes about 2 minutes for each vehicle.
