Thread: what did you sell vehicles for on YOUR server opening day?
Intrepid : I didn't even bother selling because the market was bottomed out.
Starsider: I boughta speederbike for 25k.
Wow. Them's LOW LOW prices.
And who are the Dumb*edit* artisans who'd like to admit to starting the big undercut?????
i still sold a fair amount though, but i also think it has to do with people's expectations. a couple guys tried to trade me their mounts straight up for a vehicle... like that would ever happen

I'm holding off for a day or so till all the dabblers run out of resources. I'll clean up then.

I like the way you think Quadork. It really hurts.
Not a dabbler here, but there have been some excellent resource spawns for armorsmith materials on Shadowfire lately. Setting aside a few harvesters to mine resources for a product of unknown price was too risky for my blood. I think I ran out of resouces after 10-12 vehicles

... but I do have over 100K of the best neutronium steel to hit SF.

I set the price in coronet at 25k, 30k, and 40k. While I was for gouging prices at first I just wanted all the business I could get. So I got all I could take. In fact I called in a guild mate who matched prices and we did some pretty seriuos business.
I made 1.3 million credits in 4 hours and change. My guild mate was there for the last hour or so and made 300k+
19k to 40k depending on amount and quality of resources. Since each unit of resource cost me a total of .28 cpu to pull from the ground, I was selling at upwards of a 1400% profit. I sold the vehicles for what I will always sell the vehicles for, regardless of newness.
I think the morons who try to price gouge are the problem with the economy, and I for one refuse to follow the insane logic that because they are new we should get as much as we can.
See, I am a Master DE and Master Armorsmith as well as a Master Artisan, and I understand well that it is the repeat customers that make or break a business, and that word of mouth advertising is better by far than the planetary ad from Merchant. By selling at fair prices (25k for a speeder bike made with average resources is fair), I make not just one sale, but many sales. People will buy from me because they know I am fair.
I got yelled at by some moron charging 150k a swoop at the starport (he was making them as they were ordered) when I came through, announced my prices and gave the coordinates to my vendor with its 60+ deeds waiting for purchase.
While making more deeds, a customer asked me the differences between the vehicles and the prices. When I explained the better resources and higher hitpoint thing, he understood, but he was surprised when I told him it didn't really matter because of being able to repair them at the garage anyway. He still bought the expensive one with the cool name that only stayed on the deed, because of my good customer service.
Oh, and in addition to all the vehicles I sold, I also sold some armor and droids, and more than one person said they were going to mention my shop to their friends. So go ahead and sell your 5 to 10 deeds at 150k a pop then wait for "the next big thing" to make more money, I'll make a customer for life and never have to worry about where my next credit is coming from.
