Thread: Player to look out for
As a player in from day 2 or so of the game, a race to the next level of skill ment a cornered market and large profits. I hit Travel packs, and made well over 2k per, and ground out hundreds of them (selling quite a few of them)to fund my Master Artesian and Novice Tailor (as the first to a new skill, also ment having to pay for the skill as well). Very soon after I could make them, so could everybody else, and I had to go to interplanetary travel to bazaars that did not have people selling them for less than 400 credits.
Soon these markets were undercut, but luckily I was one of the early makers ofmilitary packs which sold for 2500, then 2250, then 2000 for quite some time. Eventually someone who was grinding Military packs for experience starting selling them for 350 credits on the BazaarsThe same bazaars wherefor the past week I would sell5-6 a day for 2k each.
Was I upset: Sure...should this person be blacklisted because he feels the value on a Military Pack is 350 credits and not 2000 credits. I do not think so. Will I sell those same items for 350 credits no.I still make them, and sell quite a few for 1.5k on different planetary bazaars and out of my shop, and I have notice that this individual has not continued to stock bazaars with inventory.
So what happened, like in the real world, over production occured and factory overruns were sold off at discount prices in mass quantity to offset the cost. Grinders in this game will lactch on to the best material to experience item, and grind all day and night till the next item is available. This causes an incredilble surplus of these grind items. Law of supply and demand, prices come down. Some grinders op to destroy others try to get anything they can as quick as they can.
Now this guy seems to be a combat type unit with basic crafting skills just trying to upset people and drive prices down and generally mess with the economy. With his tactics, he will not be an issue to you for long, because he will not advance, and if he does he will come to the harsh reality that playing an advanced crafter is a lot of work, and cannot be accomplished long term by giving product away. (Once you hit an elite profession you will understand fully. A snapshot: forced to use factory created goods, must use specific types of resources (titanium steel vs steel) maintenance on 10 buildings, buying 10 buildings, paying vendor maintenance, building/buying a factory and maintaining it, etc....) The reality, though i run an occasional mission while checking harvestors, there is not enough hours in the day to fund an elite crafting profession by running missions and still have time to craft enough product to stock vendors.
So do we blacklist someone who undercuts our profit margins...to each his own...Does an individual who does undercut significant pose a threat to me...not in the long term plan.
One last example: sold a custom set of clothes to a player out of my shop on Naboo. The next dayI get a tell stating that I ripped him off, because the same item i sold him for 600 credits was on the bazaar for 300, though different color. I explained the above to him though much briefer since /telling coupled with the fact that he got to try on 3 different shirts at no additional charge, and the next day I had an order for a new outfit, in a different color scheme at my same pricing.
Not sure I had a pointt or made one here or not, just my thoughts on the topic.
Kind Regards,
Doupe -- Novice Tailor on Naboo
As for polverash he is correct if I were to buy this game a year from now and go the crafting route I would not stand a chance unless I cut my prices. Often in game now I sell my stuff for 5 to 30 credits above what it costs me to list them just to get it out of my inventory. I am a artistain, marksman, scout. I know I will have to choose soon on where to go but it keeps me interested in the game. I take missions to pay for harvestors and sample diff areas for resources while on the missions. Let
I agree with povalsh completely, man free economy if he was being a jerk it was prob because you were trying to tell him how to sell his product. Sounds like somesort of goverment there? I often look and see what things are going for and sell below the lowest one or even go 5 to 30 credits over what it costs to sell the item, just to get it out of my inventory. As for the people buying things up and destroying them big deal they bought it let them do what they want just like the guy who built it. I am glad prices are going down we whould be happy then the die hard artistans will rule when people see they cant make a profit we have to many crafters in game now and not enough meelee or medic fighters.
As for the guy with the last post about the college thing man **edit** are you saying everyone who does not go to college is a waste and will never make as much as the guy who went to college? Let me inform you that in High School they said all that crap and almost everyone went to a 4 year college so they would not be a looser and well now everyone is in college and the more people going into that field the wages are dropping cause everyone lets say has a business degree big deal Sure I went to some college but I never even put that I went on my app / resume just wanted to see what they would say employers want people they can teach lost of times sure alot depends on the field your going into. College is a waste of time and money and I am sure lots of people think that same thing only 20% do what they went to college for anyways I did not and I make 80k a year out of HS so I will be what almost half a mill away from the guy who grads college so tell me are all of you doctors and lawyers out there? I did not post this to start some childish ran about selling a house for 1 cr big deal let him do it some people play more than others and it shows.
Sorry last post hit a button new mouse is driving me nuts.
It's called a free market Shaz. You claim to understand that, but your post indicates you don't. If competition makes you angry, this is not the profession for you.
One way to fight back might be to do as another poster suggested and buy his product and destroy it, if he was selling it for UXP. Or compete with him on service - he was as lame as you say, it shouldn't be hard to win loyal customers by giving them a more positive transaction experience. Asking someone not to undersell you usually doesn't work.

I'm not afraid at all of competition especially from someone like him, as a matter of fact I welcome competition. Earlier tonight another guy came into the area selling some stuff, i inquired to hsi prices he told me he really didn't know what to sell at, i told him about NIXX, told him about the normal prices me and the others usually charge in the area and told him about the usual "LAP" I usally run when I'm in selling mode, I have no problem giving help, advice good locations for for harvester placement and whatever else someone might need.
I'd rather compete with 100 honest people letting salesmanship do the work and let the best man/woman get the sale then to compete with 1 liar. Thing is I have my regular customers already and I don't really need to be out hawking my wares, I do it because I like to do it and I like to keep my nose in it just because of people like NIXX.
I've been playing these type of games for a long time now and I can spot someone like NIXX a mile away, he gets off doing what he does, he does it to just piss people off as much as to gain XP. All afternoon whenever he would sell one he would /tell "sold one" "Sold another one" "just placed 10 on the bazaar" "bazaar is flooded with them now" Things like that. He's not there just to gain Xp and then take off, he's there to be a pain in the arse and screw up the local economy as much as he can.
I finally ignored him just to be rid of him but I did hear other people arguing with him later on in the day, so I imagine he gave up when I ignored him and started in on someone else.
Sounds too me like someone don't like competition. Personally the guy may be making un experimented stuff and instead of destroying might be trying to make a couple credits back. And if thats not the case boo hoo sorry to be blunt but if someone comes around my territory selling resources at 1.5 to 2 or less per unit woo pe do dah he runs out quick makes hardly nothing and then people come to me cause i can supply large amounts. My prices are pretty standard at:
2000 units = 3.5
4000 units = 3.0
8000 units = 2.75
16000 units = 2.5
And yes people like woh i undercut you alot i sell for 2...heh ya see how long you last for when you can't find buyers for a couple days or when someone wants alot of resources and all you have is lots of 200 - 500.
if it wasn;t for competition ore would still be selling at 10 per (ripoff) and small houses at 35k + competition is what keeps prices down and quality up. Nixx is just playing his game the way he wants so leave it be. If people like you for you then you will retain customers. If they see you whining about a little competition then POOF goes the customer.
Sorry for the flame but you know I hate whiners that whine about nothing.
It's a free market economy out there if he can find a way to make these items for 850cr less than you or is comfortable not making as much of a profit as you then he can sell his wears at whatever price he wants.
You could also consider it a promotion of types, in order to get his name out there and some UXP people need to have his items what better way to do it than offering his items at a substantial discount over "current market value"
Don't get upset just bacause you can't make as many credits as you were before he arrived on scene if he's a good crafter and doesn't sell junk you'll soon find yourself without customers.
No PadawanChong,
Assuming that he sampled all his own resources then you would be wrong because you could make a deed for 0 credits. Hence any credits gained from this deed over zero would be considered profit

Are you an idiot or something? did you even read anything I had to say or did you just feel like flaming someone because you best dog crapped in your bed again? Every heard the sayig you should stop and think about what you're going to say before you are going to say it first? You should heed that advice, i have an 8 year old son that does the same thing you do, he also liks to run off at the mouth before he thinks about what he's going to say. I tell him it's because of the ignorance of youth and eventually he will grow out of it, just like you will when you grow up.
Competition is generally good. Why would I buy an item from one person if I can get the exact same from a different person for a cheaper price. Other than the fact that I may want to build up a supplier list (if i were a marksman) there would be no reason to pay more. As crafters we not only are selling our items but we are selling our service and this can be a way to build up clientel also. (Friendly transactions, speedy service, lifetime power-ups or whatever your perk, distinguishing element is.)
If this guy wants to be a fighter/crafter and run missions to make money so he can sell his items for cheaper, more power to him. Its exciting to see a game that convey this sort of lifestyle choice and after all we are all just trying to make a living.
I hate to admit it, but Porvalsh is right.
I am currently not selling ANYTHING yet, I'm concentrating on getting all my XP up however this game was poorly thought out in terms of artisans.
I'm an artisan/scout, which means given enough time I can build ANYTHING with no cost to me.
I can harvest enough resources to build a house (when I can build them) without worrying about buying anything. I can then sell the deed for like 1cr and I just made a profit.
The problem with the game is the fact that the people who mass produce are using harvestors which cost money to run, (which should NOT occur since you built it and you should be able to simply power it with a wind generator and repair it yourself) so they need to charge a decent price to be able to keep things running. they need to compete with me who builds one item at a time and can sell it for dirt cheap.
I think this will all even out when people start working as a team. For example my friend will be joining this game soon and we are going to team up, we'll build a small place of business and one of us will run the shop and gather resources as the other hunts and goes on missions. at that point we should be able to turn out a good product at a reasonable price.
So I guess the solution would be to not use harvestors untill you either have alot of money or some co-workers to help out with expenses

Yes, it is a jerk off kind of thing to do. But it's yet another mirror of things that happen in the real world... companies using funding from other businesses to break into a new market while sustaining heavy losses.
Anybody here own an X-Box..Hehehe
