Thread: Player to look out for
I'd have to agree with Porvalsh too. Assuming Nixx isn't doing it just to tick you off, he's doing what he can to get XP and cash. For all we know, he sat on a deposit all day Saturday and earned his resources. Personally, undercutting prices is the only way I feel like new players can compete with established players with higher level specs.
If you want to beat him, either offer better products, or a better price.
Someone else mentioned on the forum that when hesees someone selling Bone Armor for cheap, he automatically buys it up and deletes it so the person doesn't get the UXP that they probably wanted.
I don't understand why people do that. Or why people get so upset that other people are being competitive. If this Nixx guy is doing it to just be a **edit** then that's not cool, but if he's lowering his prices so people will buy his stuff, then what's the problem? If I want people to buy my stuff, then I'll try to make higher quality goods for a lower price. Why shouldn't I? I don't really care if I make millions of credits. If I make enough to keep my harvesters going and take care of my needs then I'm fine. I've never really gotten over 11k credits and I'm fine with that because I'm accomplishing what I want.

I hope you left some 0's off of that-there calculation son. If you're building house deeds for 1 credit, you're nowhere NEAR profit, that is, unless you consider the hours it takes to get a resource only worth 1/2 a credit. If that's all you consider it worth, I guess the bright side is that you're making 100% profit!!!!
I tend to sell larger quanities of materials to my buyers... Look Chong up on the Radiant bazaar. You could very well get a deal if I have some quantities left.
nope, if you read my post I said that given enough time I could harvest all those needed resources by hand, so conceiveably I could build a house for free.
so when I DO start selling stuff, If I'm not using harvestors, I'll be selling for dirt cheap.

No PadawanChong,
Assuming that he sampled all his own resources then you would be wrong because you could make a deed for 0 credits. Hence any credits gained from this deed over zero would be considered profit
You still don't get it though. Ever heard of the addage: "Time is money"?
He may have sampled EVERYTHING by hand, but to get enough to create a deed is going to take at the very least 1-2 hours I'd say. So if it takes 2 hours and he sells for 1 credit - hell, let's crank that up to 100 credits - he's making 50 credits per hour.
I'm making more than that for sure. Plus, I'm sure he's got a boring game going on because he needs to sample so long he won't have time to do any missions.
Technically, you're right. He's making a profit. But is his profit worth his time? Hardly. I guess if he/she wants to remain small, he's taking the right route. If you ever decide to become a power-player, you better start selling for more/making more.

Boy if some of you really are buying cheap stuff on the bazaar and destroying it I'm just going to put all my crap on there for really cheap and make some money since it doesn't cost me anything but time and since I play on my FREE time I guess that would make the cost to me zero
Go ahead. If it's cheap enough, I'll buy it all and then resell it for double the price. You'll be happy - I'll be happier.
Thats right, Bucky. If you don't like his prices, buy him out and destroy his stuff.
When I come across drastically priced items, I buy them and (generosity permitting) resell them for profit.
If I'm not in the mood, I destroy items in question.
no no UXP for joo! ![]()

Are you an idiot or something? did you even read anything I had to say or did you just feel like flaming someone because you best dog crapped in your bed again? Every heard the sayig you should stop and think about what you're going to say before you are going to say it first? You should heed that advice, i have an 8 year old son that does the same thing you do, he also liks to run off at the mouth before he thinks about what he's going to say. I tell him it's because of the ignorance of youth and eventually he will grow out of it, just like you will when you grow up.
get a life geeze you still whining about someone saying you are a whiner. like i said SHUT UP!!
Okay, so the complaining about pricing and competition has started already, eh? First, supply and demand. If someone out there has a product to sell for x dollars, to compete you either build a better product or offer it for less. If you can do both, you have an advantage. People will use a product until it becomes more expensive than they wish, whereupon they WILL find an alternative. Either someone elses' product, or simply doing without. If the product is popular, the demand is high and should be able to support higher prices, as long as stock is low. If the market becomes saturated with goods, people can comparison shop and that drives prices down.
As far as buying a persons' product and deleting it to prevent them from gaining xp, go for it. It's predatory, but eventually you won't have two credits to rub together. All your resources are used preventing competition, keeping you from advancing your own business. It's a long road to corporate suicide. That's why ppl pay big bucks for NIKE, and can still go buy a cheap pair if that's what they want.
Myself, I sell for a decent markup sometimes; sometimes I give stuff away. If I don't need to make the money, it's just not that important. I even do contracts occasionally. I can earn about 10000c a day doing easy missions, and I have 4 miners and two windmachines going. If ppl don't like the fact that they can't clean house by charging exorbitant (and yeah, 10000c for a gun is exorbitant, considering that a house goes for 3 times that, and is more useful all around), then play something else. This is the (un)real life kiddies. Competition is the name of the game, and if you don't like the way it's played, then I suggest you do something else with your time.
Customer loyalty is also useful, but as Machiavelli pointed out, ppl are fickle. You can't buy their love, but you can make them fear you. As the game allows no way to make ppl afraid of doing business elsewhere (yet?), you either give them what they want at the price they want, or you don't make a sale.
For example, powerful guns are useful for felling large creatures and enemies quickly. But, you don't need a big gun to take bigger things down. At higher experience levels, warning shot and other movement modifiers will make creatures afraid to close with you, and you can whittle them down from relative safety. This makes me question why more powerful guns are SO much more expensive. The gain in combat is only a factor of the user. Crappy fighters just point and shoot, better ones use actions.
So I guess the short of it is that it's a game. Your ability to succeed at it is only a measure of your ability as a gamer, and your ability to adapt. Stop whining about how things don't go the way you wish. You can't do that in the real world anymore than in the game, because those are real live ppl you are doing business with.
Im skipping a few post to get my point across so if it sounds off topic I apoligize.
I have to agree with the majority of professional sellers. I am new to the market and see what the experts sees, there is no way a person can sell a deed for 1cr and actually make a living, it would be impossible. A good Artisan knows you must factor cost+Work+Time. making stuff/harvesting stuff is expensive, hard work, and time consuming. Of course your gonna see high prices because the effort to make something or sell resources is hard work. They have to consider future expenses. Now there are ways around it if your profit is not 100% of your buisness.
For example: For me, I am an Artisan slash Marksman with some scout skills and a bit of brawling which I rarily use. With a stroung enough rifle and a balanced stat pool, I can take more risk and lets say do some missions for cash while I harvest my "Supply and Demand" Resources. The money collected though missions is factored in to take care of matinence cost, plus any extra cash I have for purchusing more things(I mean, what else are you gonna do while you wait for harvesters to finish, twiddle your thumbs?). Then when it's time to retrieve the hoppers, I deposit more money into the harvesters, turn them on again and be off to the nearest bazaar to sell them which they all sell within less than a day (Usually when I hit the sack and go to sleep) When I come home from school to check on my stuff, I've made a profit and i did'nt have to pay into my profit just to do matienance. Perhaps Nixx was doing the same thing. If he can willingly sell things for 3 times less than you guys, then maybe you should'nt have adopted to protest. Instead you should have asked him how, not why. If his method beats yours, then adopt to create a better method. Supply and Demand will always win, if you have the supplies at their demand, it does'nt matter how much your selling it for, if you have the best deals, you will get all the customers.
3000 credits againts 2999 credits could make a difference in who gets the sale after you factor in "quality" which is another attribute thatgoes with supply and demand.
As for experience, well thats something you cannot help, but I think one guy said that if experience is all he's looking for, then he probably won't be able to keep it up, as weapons and such do cost+work+time and we all hate these things when they are againts us. Sorry for these big post I put up, I guess I like to write a lot.
None of you get what Shaz is trying to say, do you? The guys was rude, obnoxious, and plainly speaking was behaving like a jerk (to be nice) selling for cheaper then established prices is one thing, selling for cheaper then established prices and taunting the people around you is something else again.
Iwill be the first one to admit I give away alot of clothes and let my friends decide what they want to pay for the clothes but then again the only people I'm giving clothes to is fellow entertainers and most of them are also in my PA. Get right down to it the only reason I even became a tailor was to make dance clothes for me and my fellow entertainers. When I do charge prices which is usaully on the bazaar I will look and see what others are charging and then set my price about middle between the lowest price and the highest price.
We are all here to have fun and enjoy the game.
