Door #2 myself, though I am not a MA, but if you made it the first option, I might take up MA.... *might* For the convenience.

Here's something you can do so that the tool cannot be cornered so easily in the market..... Make the length of time that the paint lasts a function of the quality of the tool made. That'll increase the demand a little more for good materials, and it forces the MAs who want to corner the market to actually try to get together decent materials, otherwise their mass-produced products will be.... lacking in quality.

I'm not done reading this most and I WAS a master artisan (now 4/4/4/3) and I would not want to be in /tell h*& either. Vehicle publish was chaotic with a few people sending me /tells at one time and some complaining that I was not paying them enough attention (if only they knew!). No way would I want to go through that again. To me vehicles are not a big enough deal that I would want to be responsible for making the tool and also customizing. I liked the idea of the customizations fading over time if you really want to give us something to do.

Everyone should be able to do this. The reason: flexibility.

You may want to split the ability a bit: give non-artisans a nice color palette, but give Master Artisans a great color palette.

Option #2.

I'd like to see this:

One time use kits. Duh.

Limit effect for 1 RL week, or 40 game hours. Can we say "repeat customers"?

Limit production to prototypes only; no factory schematics. Will help to reduce Market flooding. Could also increase Market Value...a lot!

Make experimentation of kits produce more customization choices, ie "Amazing Results" using high OQ resources makes a kit with all choices available. Use low OQ and no experimentation=1-2 choices.

General consensus on this post is also my opinion - But i'll post it anyway just to add to the votes:

Let master artisans craft, but dont require them to stop and paint.

Keep in mind that most master artisans are also something else (DE/WS/Arch/etc..) - You're already slammed with orders etc, and now you have to stop what you're doing to meet someone to paint their vehicle.

Personally, i will not be painting any vehicles for people... I WILL make tools and sell them, if they dont require me after that.

On the other side, my combat char will have the vehicle painted by my DE friend when i think about it, but i will not bother going out and tracking down and meeting an artisan to paint it... it's a waste of time. If me vehicle ever gets painted it will be more like: "Glad you could come hunt with me today... Oh yeah, before i forget, can you repaint my bike again?"

TH,

As a Master Artesian and a Master DE, i feel that it would be much better to let anyone use the kits once they are made. My small city in the wilds of Rori could thushave my vendorstocked with customization tools that the citry members could use as needed.

I believe this would be a viable idea for DE customizations too.

I believe that there would be more usage made of both customizations in such a case, as they would be easier to get and easier to use.

I also believe that customization should last longer than it does for droids and vehicles.

Currently i am doing no droid customizations, although some customers were initially very positive about them, the hassle of getting a DE todo it is too great and the amount of time it lasts is too short.

If MAs or DEsARE going to have to do the customizations, then the customer should be able to SEE the work being done before committing to it and using a charge on the tool.

Thank you for your attention.

I am a Master Artisan and this is another vote for door #2.

Iwould like to second the plea for dropping the droid storage compartment. Adding an unwarranted complexity to a expendable item, it won't do anything for Droid Engineers. Those Artisans without Droid Engineer can either find a DE to make a schematic for them or spend 6 skill points for novice DE and make them themselves.

Also, I think that if the paint job is permanent we will still have a market forkits for replacement vehicles and for players who want to change their color scheme. And we will sell more kits if the players can use them when and where they want to without needing to find a MA due to ease of availability.

I am a Smuggler and I have been a Weaponsmith. I can tell you what will happen from experience. If only Master Artisans canuse the kits, uponpublish everyone of uswill be bombarded by tells from people who have either bought a vehicle from that artisan earlier, or from people looking for a cheap paint job. The majority of peoplewill expect us to travel to their location for a service that the market won't be willing to pay much for. Some of us will go permanently AFK to escape the tells, and others will change their tags toanother profession. Then after the market is saturated the players will get tired of having to find a Master Artisan and demand will take a sharp drop due to the annoyance factor. If the paint job fades over a short period, like droid customization kits, then this drop off will happen even faster.

Thank you for asking us how we feel about this proposed change. I do appreciate the opportunity to have input on how to improve the game.

#2 - everyone should be able to use the kits

One of my characters is a MA and one isa DE. I would also love to see the DE paint kits be available for everyone to use!

I say get rid of the tool all together and make it so they can make vehicles that keep their color permanantly.

That way artisans can make money selling new vehicles and not have to worry about customizing 300 vehicles for people a day.

but really if it is one way or the other just let us make the tools. I really do not want to have to deal with 50 tells and hour for a temporary thing that we will have to put back on the vehicle every few weeks.

If I have to do that i will charge through the roof if not quit the profession. People seam to really get upset if you overcharge for something you do not want to do. If they want my services they have to pay the price or go elsewhere. I do not play this game to craft 23/7.

I am a millionaire and bored with crafting. at least make it worth my time. Plus making vehicles have permanant colors will give the beginners a way to make good money as well.

I like the idea of a kit that anyone can use. Would be an item I could sell and not have to stand around trying to geta look just right for someone. But I agree with the previous posts in that it should be an item that has number of charges, time limit, etc... in that way they get used up over time and there is a market for more.

My question is "Why does it have to be one way or the other? Why can't we have both?"

I want to be able to make and sell color kits to everyone. But I also want a Master Artisan to be able to paint additional colors above and beyond the colors that come in the kit. This way everyone can have a stock paint job (6 or 7 designs)that they can apply themselves or they can go to a Master Artisan and get a custom paint job.
