Thread: Guess what MAJOR ARMOR NERF IN PUBLISH 10 from e3

Getting 90% armor, with PSG, and buffs have thrown this game out of whack, and if you don't believe that...
...try being a carbineer shooting at someone in 90% PvP armor, then say it is normal. Or in fact, try being any class that is non-stun based.
Go take your 90% armor and solo the vette.
If anyone **edit** about armor and buffs, play the game without them.
Even with armor and buffs there are places you can't solo, and harder places coming. Try Geo Cave, NS Slave Labor camp, NS Compound, Force Crystal Hunter Cave, Corvette, Krayt Dragons, and upcoming Death Watch bunker.
I don't want to sit there and LFG for an hour to find a group to go PVE with.
The fact I can solo 90% of the game as master fencer / master doc with food, spice, armor, buffs, and weapons is the reason I still play. I can get in and get things done without downtime.
Also for anyone calling for PvP armor reduction because pistols and carbines don't do much, um well yeah drop the armor and you'll be dead in two advanced strafes. Good game.

Go try and solo these missions? Well I've seen a lone TKM go into the Geo caves and just about every place else also. The armor needs to be reduced and the buffs need to be reduced also. Can you still solo if this happens...well yes. You just can't go after the 10 rancors at once or the geo caves by yourself or takle a Krayt Dragon by your lonesome. Armor and Buffs ruined the game by making everything impossible to most classes but a few.
go become a TKM and then you might actually have a clue what you're talking about...
I WAS a master carbineer for 7 months after launch and I was just like you, mad as h3ll watching TKMs so go solo everywhere...so you know what I did? I became one...and only THEN did I understand why.
It's not the armor that makes them strong, it's their damage output, melee defense, and melee mitigation. It used to take me forever to kill the first enhanced kwi at the geo labs, using a carbine...I go in as a TKM and smack it around in 1/3 the time and the armor isn't what makes it easier...it's the +250 damage I get as a TKM added to my vk and specials.
...even then, I can solo the geo caves, but I can't simply charge through it with ease...I still have to plan my attacks, be careful I'm not on downer...and be juiced up on buffs and brandy
TKMs are only strong IF they up against another melee mob, and IF that mob does not have a high kinetic resists...EVERYTHING else we suck at. Do you have any idea what it's like to try and chase down a mob with a rifle or a spitting spider who keeps running from ya? try it once and you'll see.
90% compo is also not everywhere, it's the exception rather than the norm, and it decays faster because it absorbs more. 66-68% base compo is the avg out there right now pre-slice...right off the bat 50% of all slices will be encumbrance...and another 25% or so will be low base slices under 80%. You need a 33% base slice to take 68% base over 90%. If you think that's a common occurance...then I invite you to try master smuggler and slice up about 1000 pieces of armor yourself once...yep you guessed it, my TKM is also a master smuggler for that very reason. Out of those 1000 pieces of armor...you're lucky if 5% of em slice up to 90%...that's a whole 50 pieces!! Out of which you MIGHT get lucky and have a complete 9 piece suit of 90% base...and to mess it up even further if you made it with stun layers to allow the kinetic to be sliceable...then the suit is heavy as all h3ll. So for all your work to get that infamous 90% base compo, you've pissed away 10's of 1000's of resources...just to basically get one useable suit that decays faster than anything else out there so it's useable MAYBE 2-3 buff sessions til it needs repair...and don't get me started on how buggy repairs are.
So to sum it up, all you people whining about 90% compo are simply ignorant of the facts, ignorant beyond measure. 90% compo is a rarity, not the norm...and the armor isn't what makes most players strong. Damage output is what seperates the cream from the crud. Armor is only gonna get you in the door but if you can't kill the d@mn thing before they gang up on ya and wear ya down with bleeds, poison, and whatever other specials they've got...then the armor resists are pointless.
Most people are happy with 80% compo and even then when you're taking 2-4k specials from riflemen and geo blasters, 80% is only gonna get you into the thick of the battle, it's not gonna let you stand there for very long. So let's drop the "90% compo makes everyone invincible"...get a clue, it doesn't!!

Umm 90% armor is common enough to ruin the game. OnFlurry it isn't even hard to find. You can get a full suit for under a million credits now adays. And 85% armor, which is still overpowered, is ridiculously easy to find. Call us ignorant if you want but I know damn well what the effects of this insane armor are. I have been a Rifleman since the game began and have seen my profession shift into the "overpowered" status while nothing has changed significantly except armor and buffs. I AM invincible in PvP unless a fellow rifleman comes along with a jawa ion rifle, one of the only counters for an insanely overpowered aspect of the game.
Sorry, but something is seriously wrong with you if you think it is the TKA damage output that makes soloing the geo cave easier. Go in there without armor and you are dead.
Your argument is pretty crappy. Even if you do 0 damage armor is not "pointless". You still were able to sit there while dark red high level creatures sit there and beat on you, which is just something a player should not be able to do.
Really, you armorsmiths are lucky to have such a good correspondant, who is actually aware of the facts and simply doesn't want to preserve an overpowered craft item.
here's a tip...what happens on one single server doesn't automatically become standard gamewide
if 90% is easy to find on yours...good for you...doesn't mean the other servers are the same
you obviously aren't a crafter or you would know what the resource pool is looking like these days across ALL servers...most of us are using 4-6month old stuff because the devs aren't giving up better...and those resourceswon't last forever...certainly not enough to keep up with the pace at which high-end armor gets chewed up
it's a self-managing issue that doesn't require a stupid nerf...it only gets worse not better, especially if the devs are gonna start holding back high end resources
