Andymantium I came by this info because he divulged it when asked about the combat rebalance. They were fielding questions at the booth and there was demos of the expansion when they let this gem slip.

Grimhand do me a favor keep your ignorant sarcasm to yourself. Since you are ignorant on my opinion and more than likely because you chose torun your mouth instead of think about what I wrote let me clarify my personal position. I didn't say that a revamp wasn't needed in some sort. As I clearly stated armorsmiths have wanted the other suits of armor improved so that we could sell them. With that said I would be infavor of a slight reduction in composite levels. I would be pleased if composite was capped at 65% across the board with an 80% to electric. I would be VERY pleased if all the other armors like padded were UPPED to a 60% general cap with 80% to its special protection. I would be able to sell that and you would see a greater variety of armors in the game instead of composite dominating. I would be even more pleased if I could make storm trooper armor that is equal to composite or Rebel armor that is equal to that of composite. I would absolutely love to see these kind of changes and yes I am biased because you see I AM AN ARMORSMITH. I would love to see these changes because variety in this game would be a good thing. However that wasn't what was being talked about.

That is my understanding of what Thunderheart said at e3 and I will note that neither he nor anyone else at sony has decided to comment on this. After looking at that laughable trailor for the space expansion in which I saw only mabari armor, and I saw characters in newbie clothing running through the corvette I think their silence is telling, but that is my opinion only.

The combat rebalance will involve large scale changes to all aspects of combat, armor included. Unfortunately, we don't yet know what these changes will be because they are still in in-house testing. I think it's pretty safe to state, though, that the functional equivalent of 90% composite will no longer exist- as much as it brings in the credits it really is just too unbalancing. With regard to the statement that composite was not intended to be the 'ultimate' armor, the devs have been saying this for months. Armor should not make a player nearly invincible. 90% composite armor makes a player nearly invincible, especially now that the armor hole is fixed.

The real question is how armor (including pre-existing armor) will fit into the new combat system and what roles the different types of armor will play. I will be doing everything I can to ensure that armor continues to play a vital role in the new combat system.

i agree with this nerf, 90% armor is way out of hand, 60% is pushing it, 40%-50% is pretty good. the 90% armor is what, in my opinion, is one of the biggest things that ruined pvp.

Let's get one thing straight folks...90% resists do NOT make a player invincible...90% WITHOUT any real vulnerability IS what makes them invincible

The problem isn't in the max %...it's in the lack of a weakness.

That 90% compo would not be so effective if it had a big fat energy vulnerability that couldn't be layered.

Layering in vulnerabilities is part of the problem...only having 1 vulnerability is also the issue

The max % are fine...just so long as they aren't across the board.

" Will Jedi Robes be comparable to 90% composite armor?

- During the combat revamp, mostly everything will be brought down in scale, and 90% comp armor will also be toned down. Jedi robes will be comparable to the "new" high end comp armor. "

I'm saying right here that we just nerf the whole armor system and rework it, because half of the armor is uselss and looks stupid either way. There's no way in hell I'm going to wear padded or bone armor to PVP, that's just out of the question..

  • Scrap all the other armors besides composite, becauseI believe Composite should be the armor that is decent all around.

  • Add in new armor that looks decent and scrap bone armor or keep it for newbies whatever.

I don't see why they'd want to nerf it because people have been looting exceptional and legendary armor that are 100%, so you might as well nerf those aswell. We need more variety if you want to keep the economy booming. How boring is it to see everyone wearing composite? Padded armor, who came up with that? I'd like to slap who did.

Sorry if I'm a bit biased, but I've had a bad day..

I think composite should be nerf'd. As it is to many people wear it and it way over powered. Honestly i dont think people should be able to solo creatures like Krayts or Rancor. Also in PvP i think less people would complain about the Jawa rifle or Stun baton if other weapons could do close to the same amount of damage. Then there are the Jedi who can only use kinetic weapons. Should they rebalance creatures with 90% resists? No people should have to group to kill the HIGH end content in this game. But thats just my opinion.

I seen it posted in this thread and I've held this belief for a while.

Leave the resists alone, just make HAM have some effect. Personally, I think it should effect movement and attack speed. Reducing the efficiency of both as the armor gets heavier. Perhaps a 1000/1000/1000 will reduce both by 10x?

For those that don't know, 90% base comp isn't very easy to make. If it is made, it's incredibly heavy. The reason you hear about how insanely powerful it is, is because of the damage reduction in PvP. I've seen many die at the claws of some high mob that were wearing nice composite.

I think there is some merit to the power of buffs eliminating the consequences of using specials though. Lets treat that as a different topic. After all, this is the armorsmith board.

This train of thought only leads to more nerfing and is idiotic. Lets say Composite get nerfed, nobody wears it anymore because Padded becomes the new uber armor. Then you will post again, saying too many people are wearing Padded and to nerf that.

Nerfing doesn't fix anything, it ends up usually creating more problems.

I would take baby steps with trying to lower resists on Composite. Just allowing Composite Segments to have 2 layers instead of 3 would make a huge difference I bet. I would also lower the encumbrance on Padded by 10% also.

I just wanted to point out that I solo, at a relaxed clip no less, a wide variety realitively high end creatures without any sort of armor. And I'm a freakin twi'lek! We're useless and weak I only really toss on armor for PvP, the Corvette or to train a skill - if you consider that 90 percent resists are throughing PvP out of wack, that we've already established that you should need a group for the Corvette, and I'd assume it's safe to say that you shouldn't be in the heroic mold as you train up brawler or are just starting an elite profession... I don't know... I'm all for being challeneged myself. I do certainly agree that any overall game balance changes that leave us forced to group would be a massive mistake - but I don't think that's going to happen. Just my two cents though.

ok maybe ner'd wasnt the corrrect wording however i still think comp should be brought inline with the other armor. Its not so much everyone wears its more the fact that people are forced to wear it or so it seems. No one bothers with the other armor because its no where CLOSE to the power of comp. If comp is going to remain as strong as it is then 1 of 3 things should happen

1) Make it take loot to get it up to where it currently is ( the current loot for comp armor is weaker than what can currently be crafted... now im not saying make it take loot to craft but to improve and make it as strong as it is)

2) Give it a REAL vulnerability (Composite can be made to protect against every damage type in game right now it should have atleast 1 vulnerability that cant be removed that is used. some form of weakness that cant be removed with layers)

3) Give it a movement/attack penalty (ingame based on looks alone not encumbrence the appearance of both comp and chitin look as though they would limit a person's movement / time to act in most situations)

Right now there is no penalty to wearing it and you can have better protections than 90% of the mobs in this game. Baby steps is ok but why take MONTHS to get it down to a reasonable level?

Like i said before this is just my opinion
