gotta love the way they're taking all uniquness outta the game. Ever play EVE online? gotta love that crafting system, all armor/weapons/items same stats (or near). At least there we had devs respond to a well thought out post or idea.

User Centered Development is a good thing, back in the 60's the technology was the driving point, then developers realised that the user is a integral part of a system. If you don't involve or atleast listen to the user in the design/development process you will get systems that while being technically good, ultimately causing the users feeling hostility toward it (Hint: this is where you are now). Now you might say: But we are listening to our users, well that is partly true. But instead of taking in what concerns the users rise, you make your own assumption on what the users want and develop from there instead of actually taking in the users ideas as they are the ones that will use the system, not you.

I feel for you armorsmiths

And you know what the most valuable time we've had them spend in the last 4 months of intensive development of new product was? Talking to customers who actually use our products. Everybody agreed on this, most especially the software engineers themselves. The insight into the way the customer uses the product, what they like and don't like, is invaluable to them in the design process.

Doesn't matter whether it's for customers paying $10,000 a shot for your product (like ours) or $50 (like yours), insulating your coders from the customers is not a winning strategy.

This is OOOOOOOOOO so true! I've had the same experiences.

The devs working on combat upgrade can either hit the forums and respond all day to your questions or work on CU. I am sure we are all in agreement with having them bang away at issues and bugs with CU rather then post all day.

There have been 10 dev post in as many days on the armorsmith forum. How does this not qualify as comunication? As a Ranger I find it absurd you all have felt shafted in any way, yes your system is changing, and the devs have listen to your input and made changes such as the reduction in organics hehe, to the change back to the original stats for experimentation. Meanwhile we have sat and waited, and waited for even a hint as to what was going to happen to us and we got nothing. Thats right nothing not a single post by a dev in our forum for months....months! Yes, last night at the chat the devs did finally announce that we are getting CL in the CU, and the rangers rejoiced. But still I'd like you to find an official announcement on our forum from the devs, nope didn't happen. Even with a huge change like this not a red name to be found. Meanwhile like I stated before you have had 10 post in just the last 10 days. So again I ask how is that not communication?

If the corr did set up a spam campaign to the devs then he deserved to be stripped of his possition, plain and simple. One need not look as far as our own fine corr to see how it should be done, Owen has collected our issues and our questions, and presented them to the devs in a clean and professional manor. Guess what it worked, The devs changed their position on scout/rangers gettign CL and we patiently wait for them to answer the rest of the questions presented to them.

nobody in the community asked to have a CU pushed out faster than the dev's could handle it. i honestly hope you people realize that sony/lucasarts, or whoever's brainchild this is, is pushing out garbage because they were forced to by some bigwig thats never played the game we all love. you should be communicating with us or alpha testers or someone during all of this not slaving 24hrs a day to push out this garbage.

i honestly want to know what happened to you saying its gonna take as long as it takes to do the CU....

Tiggs, the way that communication from you, TH and the rest of the Devs has almost all but dried up can you blame us for being extremely upset?

Almost everyone hates the icons and want them replaced. All you guys say is "no". I am sorry, but such a reply is unacceptable.

You folks NEVER reply to our concerns (except the guy in charge of Commando's. He is the ONLY one communicating)

You are just pushing forward on the CU blind to all our issues and complaints.

What kind of Customer Relations is that?

dude....they are blatently ignoring the fact that the majority of people thing the CU sucks. and the worst part is they are lying about it saying we approve it.

Correspondents have rules just as you do on our forums and these need to be upheld. When a correspondent goes against the rules they will be removed just as any of you would be. A correspondent's position is to bring to the Dev team the issues their profession is currently having or foresee. It isnot to rally up the troops and spam in private message tells tothe devs, just to be heard. The correspondents have direct access to our email addresses and to the correspondent forum. Unfortunately there are times when TH and I get very busy and we need to concentrate on the other duties we have. During these timesthe correspondents may nothear anything from us. We do however let them know we are still reading their posts or emails even if we aren't replying and their concerns are being brought to the table.

All of this is outlined in the correspondent forum, the application for being a correspondent and the welcome letter they receive.

Please keep it constructive, any posts that are not constructive will be removed.

Perhaps you'd like to comment on the resulting BANS that were a result of people becoming upset about Mods deleting the ONLY informational post we had in the matter then.

Furthermore, regardless of the rules, Correspondents DESERVE more respect from you and the rest of the team. Even if they screw up, the punishment needs to fit the crime. Things would have gone a lot better had you handled things a little more discreetly, which is exactly what you are punishing him for not doing. I could understand if this was a new Correspondent or someone constantly acting out, but he's been a Correspondent for 7 months. That in itself should garner him better treatment.

I think you need to remember that he VOLUNTEERED his time whereas you get paid for yours. He gets no compensation, you get a paycheck. That's definitely something that needs to be reflected on before you take action against another Correspondent.

Okay what is this with everyone...Tigg's pops in and says hey we have rules and everyone yells everything is fine.

I think the move by the corespondent shows exactly how much of an ear we don't have. If the one person that does have a direct line feels the only way to have our concerns heard is to make a move that they KNOW will get them removed, that shows you exactly where we are on the priority list.

I can empathize with Tigg's and Thunderheart being busy, I have a busy job too. That's why they have a corespondent in the first place...to serve as someone to gather our concerns put them in a constructive format and present the questions to everyone else that's listening...did I miss something here, or did or correspondent just tell us that no one is listening.

For The Academy:

I'm not going to flame you, but you know nothing of what this is about. The combat upgrade needed to happen, it's a good thing for the game...hopefully it can breathe new life into it, however, does that mean that the armorsmith skill has to be completely gutted. I've competed succesfully as a ten point smith and as a twelve point smith. My top of the line suit is always the same price, I just reprice everything that doesn't match it anymore...it's not about ten points versus twelve points, its not about resources....it's about the only profession that actually had an endgame content being reduced to a fraction of what it was. It's about taking my hard work and effort and discarding it. I'm sorry if you didn't have the joy and prideof putting that kind of effort into what you do...if you did, you would be upset if someone took it away from you and didn't even have the courtesy to tell you why. I'm not a child anymore, because we said it's good for you doesn't hold up to me anymore. I'm sure there are lots of good things that have taken place, I haven't experienced many of them, I haven't researched them because I don't do much pure combat, I'm an armorsmith, I make armor...or at least, I was.
