Thanks for the info Tiggs, but would it hurt for us to hear anything about our issues?
The devs working on combat upgrade can either hit the forums and respond all day to your questions or work on CU. I am sure we are all in agreement with having them bang away at issues and bugs with CU rather then post all day.
No, the game designers need to be working on the issues, but doesn't SWG staff have someone who's job is to let us know what's going on? Isn't there SOMEONE who is supposed to act as liason between players and the design team to let each know and better understand where the game is going.
In fact isn't that YOUR job?
LOL, damn..that one killed me
I have a serious lack of faith in both community relations and the development team as a whole.
As a player above mentioned ..How long does it take to write a message saying you will address our concerns?
Wheres this promised Blairs blog?
Do you realise a TONNE of your playerbase will be GONE eternally if you dont listen to what they want?
We have been putting up with non existent community relations for too long, this is the decisive moment ...... fail and I and the rest of my guild will probably be off to brighter shores.
There , I threw my 2 cents in..Now watch it get deleted by the SOE coverup operation.

The post that was removed earlier was removed in error. The moderators received numerous reports on the thread and removed it after reviewing those posts. We are not trying to silence you or I wouldn't have posted at all. I was trying to explain why things happen and will do so again with more detail this time.
Correspondents have rules just as you do on our forums and these need to be upheld. When a correspondent goes against the rules they will be removed just as any of you would be. A correspondent's position is to bring to the Dev team the issues their profession is currently having or foresee. It is not to rally up the troops and spam in private message tells to the devs, just to be heard. The correspondents have direct access to our email addresses and to the correspondent forum. Unfortunately there are times when TH and I get very busy and we need to concentrate on the other duties we have. During these times the correspondents may not hear anything from us. We do however let them know we are still reading their posts or emails even if we aren't replying and their concerns are being brought to the table.
All of this is outlined in the correspondent forum, the application for being a correspondent and the welcome letter they receive.
Please keep it constructive, any posts that are not constructive will be removed.
One more thing Tiggs, i hope you and the devs understand that the "majority" of the players DO NOT feel the way most of these players feel. If you notice most of the players that started making a big fuzz in general (reguardless of profession) are the ones that under the current "live" combat system have some sort of an "edge" over the rest of the players, in the AS'ers case its those that have 12pt cloths + extremely hard to get resources + insane HIGH quality resources so they have been spoiled by taking over their market as no NEW players or AS'er can compete and since they have the founds on top of that they can sell at just about any price to close out any local competition. With that said, i do acknowledge where you guys are headed and DO see the big picture in terms of roles and balances, so once again PLEASE keep up the great work and thank you for all your efforts as i truely understand how hard it is to create something for masses and have that fine line of "knowing" you will not satisfy "ever" everyone 100%.
Thanks!
SO you saying that the guy who worked for 2 years to get the best ressources, the best CA's , dont have the right to complain?? Should they "balance" the profession so that any noobie that just mastered the profession will be at same level??
Hes just a n00b tring to get a head.....We 2 year vets get nerfed and the n00b get even with us...THATs what SOE calls balence

Hi Tiggs welcome to flamewars :-P
There is some truth to your statement here, only thing is that we know that blix trawls through our boards and did while Ok's post summerizing our points was up. But instead of taking his time to respond to this great post he decides to offer us a little tidbit halfing our hide requirements. That really told me alot about what was going on. He gave us the hide thing hoping it would make us think you were doing something for us. But what he really did was ignore the big picture for a small "win"
I must admit I really dont care about the hide issue I would adabt and move on same goes for the resources. I was pissed about them but my anger about these "trivialities" was nothing compared to the anger I felt when I read about the dumbing down of the most rewarding craft in the game.
This update is showing more and more signs of going through a typical waterfall development with all the bad decissions being hard to reverse. If you send me a PM I have the titles of some great books that could teach you guys a thing or two about Iterative and user centered designs. I know you think that is what you are doing but you are really not. In user centered design the user is listened to, he should actually be your best tool.
-hugs Tiggs-
I know your position is hell but please please take some time and change your sig because right now its not really ringing true in alot ears here.
From now on I will be found trolling the WS boards instead of this place, maybe one day I will return

Has one part of that system been removed?.... oh yes, thats right, TWO of them have now.

Gods, sometimes you peeps are like the starry-eyed sheep that I saw at the last fan fest, all googly-eyed that they're seeing devs.
Big deal. They've been incompetent from day one. They lack mature business skills in communication, public relations, development, project management, leadership, planning, feedback and evaluation, and ethics. They've been manipulative to the point of evil, in just about every aspect, from forum structure, to correspondents existing solely as deflector shields from the players, to talking about combat upgrades and springing a game revamp on us.
Don't buy the big sheep eyes, even if Tiggs is batting them.
Their lack of leadership and behavior smacks of teenagers running a major project like SWG, and they deserve to be fired, one and all, not for you to be all, "oh Tiggs, we appreciate your manipulations, just try to communicate with us, whaaa."
Give me a break.
Fired. They've earned nothing more. Speak with your account subscriptions and clean house. Otherwise, these inept people will sink our game for good.
QFE
Very true. Take note. This is really the only answer, I'm convinced of that.

Well, surely by now nobody has to point out what a mistake that post was politically ...
But fundamentally, I have to say, you're wrong. Dead wrong. I train network engineers to configure hardware firewalls for midsize corporate networks. The guys who design our software are hardcore Linux/Unix geeks, who probably see the daytime sun even LESS often that your game-coding geeks. And you know what the most valuable time we've had them spend in the last 4 months of intensive development of new product was? Talking to customers who actually use our products. Everybody agreed on this, most especially the software engineers themselves. The insight into the way the customer uses the product, what they like and don't like, is invaluable to them in the design process.
Doesn't matter whether it's for customers paying $10,000 a shot for your product (like ours) or $50 (like yours), insulating your coders from the customers is not a winning strategy.

Don't kid yourself, the Correspondents never had an impact..
... the devs have always operated in an ivory tower. Did you ask for holo grinding? Did you ask for it to be replaced with all new jedi trees, or just an end to the holo-grinding? Did you ask for FRS? Did you ask for negative XP or skill loss? Did you ask for the combat balancing to be turned into a game revamp? Did you ask for doctors to lose their crafting? Did you ask for all new professions? Did you ask for a new interface? Did you ask for armor to be split up?
What substantive thing did they ever do that involved the community, and of those involved or not, what did they ever do that was successful? Nothing, because they did not, ever, involve the community, and they've mismanaged things from opening day.

From the looks of things, their "banging away at issues and bugs" with the CURB as it stands right now is only causing more and more issues and bugs and driving away more and more consumers. I know several folks who were part of the abortive "Alpha," and if half their stories are true, y'all squandered a truly unique opportunity. How shameful.
If you were releasing a brand new game, never before seen on the market, I might buy that line. But given that SWG is nearly two years into live operation, and there are thousands of folks with millions of dollars invested into this game, soliciting significant feedback, replying to the feedback, and acting upon it, having a significant amount of dialogue when you are radically restructuring the game isn't that much to ask.
It is simply mind-boggling that despite years of criticism and acknowledged failings on your parts, the development team continues to make the exact same mistakes.
QFE!
If everything I have heard is true, they really did abort a wonderful CURB that would have been 100 times better than what we are being offered now. This new CU is just a cut and past of EQ2 game code.
And, haven't I said in almost everyone of my anti CU posts that the biggest problem SoE has ever had is a serious lack of communication? This just goes to show it even more.
