I don't know about you guys, but I don't want to look the same as every other bounty hunter in the galaxy. I hope they let you customize what kinds of gadgets are on each piece of armor as well as at least3-4 different colors to combine into different schemes.

If they need more variety so there aren't Boba Fetts running all over the place, why not just give the players the option to be different? That will hopefully make everyone happy since the BH's get the cool armor they want and other people don't have to see the same guy running all over the place (I also think composite should have more variety, perhaps in helmet design or even designs that could be "painted" onto the armor).

Okay, let me get this straight, they are introducing a new set of ARMOUR and the majority of the ARMOUR is not going to be craftable by ARMOURsmiths?

Is it just me or does that sound utterly retarded?

Seriously, complicated armour should only be producable by armoursmiths. If this isnt the case, when do we get the ability to make uber droids and weapons?

I am not an armorer, I am a Bounty Hunter, and in our forum we were actually debating the concept of Bounty Hunter Only Armor, that was capable of having lots of gadgets. One of the topics that we get hit with a lot is the issue of Balance - that BH is too powerful...wahhhh.

One of the ways to make it difficult for Dabblers in our profession, and for Bounty Hunters in general, to have Armor that provides a significant advantage is to make it expensive and difficut to get.

By involving more than one profession in making the armor, it obviously raises the cost/price - we would think at least double, if not tripple. Now I know very little of crafting in general, since the only think I ever get to craft are stimpacs and camp kits. But I am aware that your profession is able to mass produce things...so it would seem to me that the other crafting professions would be making components that you would use to make BH armor. And since your components are dependent on another persons quality, and therefore your quality is partly controlled by another - you are going to be picky about what you use. In fact, the pain in the butt required to make this armor might be so high that many of you won't even bother, unless someone pays you a lot up front to even considder it. End result: Bounty Hunter Armor will be rare and Mandalorian Armor even more rare.

So from a differnet perspective, it isn't retarded but instead an attempt to make sure every dude you see isnt suddenly a memeber of the Fett Family. Its also a way of justifying the incredibly high cost that will be associated with this armor

First of all, I am writing this as a Bounty Hunter, and therefore the ultimate benefactor of this toy. Speaking for all of us Bounty Hunters, we honestly don't give a hoot who makes Bounty Hunter Armor or what is involved in making Mandalorian Armor out of Bounty Hunter Armor - WE WANT IT, AND WE'LL PAY FOR IT.

DaxynSiryion wrote:

I have to correct you there. All mandalorian armor was not made with all the gadgets you see on Jango/Boba Fett's suit. Jango Fett added all those gadgets you see in the movies to a normal suit of Mandalorian armor. And from my understanding, Boba inherited that same suit with his father's death.

If you recall, THIS IS A GAME - why put the armor in the GAMEif it didn't have the gadgets.

Dang it. Nowyou made me soundlike a dork, lol. Don't expect Bounty Hunters to be running around shooting fire from their arse just because they're wearing this suit (Atleast it's not supposed to be that way).

As a Bounty Hunter, I certainly HOPE we start running around shooting fire. We have been severly beaten with the NERF BAT, and this might be the Devs way of fixing us.

So Tailors and DEs really have no place in crafting this armor any more than they would composite. Again, I can see them making some of the subcomponents, but for them to be making the armor itself is ridiculous. And as an Armorsmith with very limited choice in armors to craft (Composite, Composite, a little Ubese, & more Composite...), it saddens me.

Again, as a Bounty Hunter, I don't really care how many cooks it takes to make this stew, I'm gonna eat it. HOWEVER, other combat professions already whine and complain if the Bounty Hunter seems more powerful then them, and this might be a way of reducing/limiting now many BH run around with Bounty Hunter Armor, much less Mandalorian Armor.

I don't think the multi-crafter approach is a slap in your face as much as it is another hurdle for a Bounty Hunter to be able to get this.

Yes...arrogent to think ---> ARMOR<--- should be crafted by an Armor --->SMITH<---. :/

Hawk

Hawk, I've said it before and I'll say it again - as a Bounty Hunter I don't think this is a slap against you - it is a mechanism to prevent EVERY Bounty Hunter from getting this.

What vendor am I going to be able to by armor that is going to require 3 differnet Master Profesions to make..answeer is nowhere. I will have to special order Bounty Hunter Armor, becasue that type of armor will be too costly for an Armorer to mass produce, especially if all of it can't be made by an armorer. I (The Bounty Hunter) have to run around and find 3 Master Crafters on at the same time who are willing to even make the Bounty Hunter Armor, much less go turn that armor into Mandalorian. For a Bounty Hunter this will be a big pain in the butt, and the only ones that will be willing to even go thru all this are those individuals dedicated to the profession, and not a dabbler.

I hate to break this to you, but Armorsmiths are being used to help fix Bounty Hunter, and I don't think theres anything any of us can do about it...I would PREFER one-stop-shopping.

I certainly hope they arent introducing armour certifications or profession specific armour. And I most definately hope they arent going to make Mandalorian armour only wearable by Bounty Hunters, that just wouldn't fit as it was originally worn by a group of mercenaries not Bounty Hunters. It also shouldn't have better defensive properties than composite as it is meant to be a light flexible combat armour consisting of armoured platesmounted ona flexible suit of underclothing. Also, Mandalorian armour was not stacked full of gadgets like Jango/Boba Fett's suit in the movies, most of that stuff was custom fittedto suit their needs.

I think specialized Armors for specifec Professions (and Races), is exactly what is needed. And in terms of Bounty Hunter Armor, remember that THIS IS A GAME. It is obvious that the Devs intend to use Bounty Hunter Armor and Mandalorian Armor as a way to fix some of the currently NERFED issues we BH have. The gadget-filled Armor, while not Star Wars Cannon in regards to Mandalorians or Bounty Hunters, may be the way the Devs decided to implement Bounty HUnters more fully in this GAME.

Creating the Mandalorian armour should not fall down to single profession for any single given part, it should require cooperation between several professions, namely Armoursmiths for the armour plates, Tailors for the underclothing and a Droid Engineer to operate the droid used during the creation process.

I agree with you 100%

The resulting piece of Mandalorian armour should be non-tradable and not dropable within houses/factories to avoid it just turning into another display armour like RIS.

Again, 100% agreement

To do this it would make most sense to require a Master Armoursmith, a Master Tailor and a Master Droid Engineer to be present in the same room as the person questing the Mandalorian armour piece.

Secondly, you seem angstful - try spending the number of skill points and number of uncompressable hours of gindingnearly impossible Bounties needed to make Master Bounty Hunter, only to get your arse wiped out by a mid-level Pistoleer because he has defensive moves, and you arent allowed to have them, then see how angstful you feel about this.

Funny.. if we are as rich and powerful as you guys say..then you will have almost no chance what so ever in getting a REAL armormsmith to give up hours of his or her time to push a button thats for sure.. better start holo'in yourself up to Master AS so YOU can fightYOUR way in with your buds and push the button. I would have to be extremely bored to even think about doing such a thing.. That or someones gonna pay me big time.. And you know what.. I dont think anyone hasTHAT much money!..Not even another smith.

Actually, what you can expect is an entire ARMY of Bounty Hunters paying you by the minute to come along. That Army will surround you, carress you, love you. Do you have some competition you want whacked, hey for you - no problem. Do you covet someone's survey location - we'll have a talk with them. If you knew how Badly a Master Bounty Hunter will want Bounty Hunter Armor, much less Mandalorian Armor, then you'd know that "Big Time" doesnt even scratch the surface of what we are willing to pay.

I hope this is incorrect data because this sounds like a really absurd idea that mainly goes against the whole theme of SWG.. Combat guys are just that combat guys..they can infiltrate, search, destroy and retrieve.. Incase you forgot ..look at your skill trees..pehaps you should be reminded of what you are supposed to be good at. Mine says ARMOR. I didnt get carpal tunnel clicking on resources to make anything else. It isnt my fault Sony wont put decent droids into the game.. That would be great. I want to see more useful professions.. But I dont want to make droids. I want to make ARMOR.. So therefore im an Armor smith. The combat types fight day in and day out and they come inand needa suit of armor and get upset when they have to buy it. Well I have to mine/buy everything thats in that suit.. I spend days working on good schematics and coming up with better ways to make ARMOR. It would be a severe slap in the face is any other profession made ARMOR. I have no issue relying on other classes for components and such that go into the suits but the final combine should be by and armorsmith. If I have to travel to a very dangerous place and waste time camping camping camping and fighting , running, running, running. then some of you combat smiths will have to do this sort of thing as I am a pure crafter. I see this as an attempt to get me away from doing whats important ..that is making ARMOR for you guys and being stuck in some dungeon dying over and over again when I could be making ARMOR is not going to be my idea of fun.

Again, we Bounty Hunter's have nothing but love for you Armorsmiths, especially if you can make us Bounty Hunter Armor. And if you are willing to come along with us so you can make our precious, beloved Bounty Hunter Armor into Mandalorian Armor, you will have a wealthy customer for life.

Aschematic.. and serialized sub components looted from the dungeon, along with other components that are created by a droid engineer and a Tailor should be whats required.. It is absured to have to go to the dungeon to do this.Let the combat types do their thing byretrieving the items needed if thats the way they wantto do it. The serializedcomponents will keep items from being mass producted the same way that rancor hide, krayt tisuse, and night sister shards work today. Make the components super rare drops and there you go.... Thewarrior types would win out because an armorsmith wont be able to get the items himself anyway so they are gonna make decent money if anyone does outta that deal.

I think part of the picture you are missing is the SEVERE BEATING WITH THE NERF BAT we Bounty Hunters get any time we have one pistol skill or ability that a Pistoleer feels is stronger than one of his 16 (and probably ne of his low end skills too). So many of us BH feel this is a gift from the Devs, make up for raping us. The reason the Devs want to makes this so difficult is BECASUE you won't normally want to go. If Bounty Hunter Armor, all buy itself is difficult and costly to get, it will limit who goes out to get it. If Mandalorian Armor requires THIS extent to get it, it will be even more precious to us. I think the point of the dungen is that only this place has the equipment to make BH Armor into Mandalorian Armor, so getting it has do to with getting a group together capable of defending their precious Crafters and getting them to the control rooms.

I want to hear the crys of outrage by the combat professions if SOE decides to give some combat related skill to armorsmiths. LOL. Because the biggest babies in this game most certainly arent the crafters thats for sure. I deal with them every day so I know who WHINES the loudest LOL.

The relative amount of effort between combat professions and crafting professions is different. We cannot 'mass-produce' our kills, and I am not sure how often your items kill you. The reason we buy your armor again and again is becasue we get the heck beat out of us, and wear it the heck out. We shoot our weapons until the barrell melts, and have to buy another. We only get xp and money when we risk our necks online, not with an automated factory or mine.

But I will also say that I think some of the 'self-reliant' things combat professions have been given are WRONG. I think that coloring armor and vehicles should be done by the professionals - maybe create a variant of the trade window, where you pick the colors and we say yes, or where we pick the colors, but we have to give you money before it lets you finalize the colors. The armor repair tool, that should require an Armorer to fix, and it should cost us money. If a Pistoleer wants to fix his Composite Armor himself, then he can train just like you guys did. We Bounty Hunters will be forced to depend on your availability - but that seems fair, the more powerful a profession is the more dependent on others it should be.

PS. If you own a suit of RIS armor you got to be one of the biggest suckers in SWG. Thats junk. Thank you for the thought SOE, but you gotta do better than that..otherwise just dont even try.

If a crafter cannot experiment on this because of the "terminal interface" they use with this droid, perhaps a slicer can slice the terminal for "experimentation" values... Just a thought!

Ok, I'm a Bounty Hunter, not an Armorer.

With that being said, re-read what is written there. BOUNTY HUNTER ARMOR. Someone has to make this Bounty Hunter Armor FIRST!!! The experimentation probably happens at that phase of the process.

And as far as slicing goes, I bet that slicing the BH Armor will prevent it from being turned into Mandalorian Armor, so a BH will either by suit just before going on this quest, or buy 2 suits at once.

I dont have a problem with new content unless it allows others to experiment armor, or highly customize armor. If it is a quest item that is basically built by a droid or already put together then fine. Otherwise it degrades the smith.. I for one do not think it makes sense that I should be able to make droids, create BE tissues or anything that I havent trained in. So if the stats on the Mandalorian armorextends beyondanything more than the basic bone armor (which artisans can make) that puts us in the realm of the armor smith.. and most likely the Master Armor smith. Big deal if a Master Smith , Master Tailor and Master DE are required to be present to assemble the armor. The problem comes up when the DE has a schematic for a bracer in his hand that he creates by EXPERIMENTING and ASSEMBLING the bracer. That is a major ...big.. deal. Anyway if all the bracers are the same and you cannot change the color or experiment it anyway and a droid engineer adds electronics then that is totally different ...he is adding electronics to armor not creating it. Yea well call me nit picky ... You wont find any profession happy about armorsmiths being able to assemble and experiment on their line of product, and Im certain that if armorsmiths were granted "super tanking" abilities most combat professions would be kinda upset about it. SOE needs to bring the other classes up so that they have a higher "importance" if that is what you guys think that needs to happen (this quest isnt going to make anyone want to be a droid engineer or Tailor that isnt already)..It needs to be done in a fashion consistent with their abilites..not someone elses. If you look at the crafting professions you will see they are all already kind of dependent on each other. BE's items go in cloth or reinforced fiber panels made by tailors. Tailors can make components for armor, Armorsmiths provide armor for droids.... on and on... So with that saidI hope the Mandalorian armor gets put into the game, it would be nice to make it but it seems SOE wants it to be a very rare and diffiult process. I havent gotten rich off of RIS armor, and I doubt Manalorian will be any different. Sony pretty much intended that player crafteditems dominate so that hopefully will continue.

The only reason that armor is worth so much is the resources to get them cost alot of money and the combat types pay the prices asked for the armor. If no one bought it then the resource guys couldnt sell to the smith at inflated prices and thus the prices would be cheaper. Theres like this trend where people think we are the ultra elite, but yet they couldnt deal with what we go through to be as good as we are at what we do and have all we need to do it with plus compete with other smiths who are almost infinitely richer than we are. Its not like I can do anything with my money when I make it besides buy more harvesters or resources.. What else would I buy?? Furniture for my house? Medicine I dont need? Certainly cant use a gun and have no clue what to do with that stick I carry around... and armor? haha I wear a suit of Rancor Padded because its low encumb and looks nice.. LOL I have no need for anything like composite armor.. hehe.. maybe ill buy a Starship some day.. hehe that is if I stop giving armor away... LOL..

No offense meant in saying this, but Bounty Hunter Armor and Mandalorian Armor has nothing to do with Armorsmiths, it has to do with Bounty Hunters. It isnt that the Devs are trying to diss you or insult you - they are trying to make it an enormous pain in the rear for Bounty Hunter's like me to get my Bounty Hunter Armor, much less have it elevated into Mandalorian Armor.

Trust me, if it were up to Bounty Hunters, we would go to the same Armorsmith we always have and pay for the armor - one stop shopping. Instead we have to find 3 differnet Masters of Craft that are even WILLING to make these Bounty Hunter Only items. Then we have to be able to afford them. Then to go to Mandalorian, we have to find 1 Armorcrafter able to successfully operate the controls (which means they did this/another quest to gain that knowledge) who is ALSO willing to come along.

This level of craziness to get a set of armor isn't aimed at the Armorcrafters, its aimed at us Bounty Hunters that DESPERATLY need some level if defene so we last 60 seconds against a Jedi, instead of 15 seconds if we're really good.

Here's a tip for your ENTIRE PROFESSION if you are really mad about this...Charge us Bounty Hunters out the Wazoo!!!! You will find us willing to pay for it - even if we have to grind missions for 3 weeks straight without spending a dime so we can afford your Extortion/Usserous/Painfully Expensive Price. Some of you have complained that you don;t get rich from being an Armorcrafter, well some of us Bounty Hunters will be glad to help you change that financial state.
