More interesting reading on "critical success" in this thread.

Highlights include this comment by Thunderheart:

There is a chance for critical fail and also critical successes. Its a great risk vs reward mechanic. Its game play. Without risk versus reward, there is no "game".

Someone basically asked "Are there really critical successes?!?", and Thunderheart replied:

Yes - - with the same frequency.

Presumably this means same frequency as critical fails. This seems to be demonstrably not the case. Someone even posted some statistics after crafting a mix of 97 different weapons (this is on page 16 of the thread):

I had 12 Critical failures on assembly 12/97 = 12.37% failure rate on 97 attempted crafts.
I had my first ever critical success on a tangle pistol, of thousands of crafts last night.
I had 2 amazing success assemblies, and the rest were great successes

The same person later gave the states achieved with this critical success:

I believe critical successes do exist. I was making a bunch of Tangle pistols by hand to help test this thread out. (I made a bunch of weapons) One of my dangle pistol experimentations was 3.0speed 104 max damage.
I have never had a tangle pistol that fast in my entire time crafting. They've always been 3.4speed and overing really close to 100 damage (99-102) which leads me to believe that my 3.0 104max damage tangle pistol was a critical success. I ahve not been able to repeat that as well. Luckily I made a schematic and was able to make 25 of those pistols.

Lots of people chimed in to say there was no such thing as critical successes, that if there was then it is way too low a roll, that it seems amazing sucesses come about as often as critical failures, etc.

One thing that I wonder myself is if both critical successes and critical failures exist for assembly, then what about critical sucesses for experimentation?

Amen. For those ignorant enough to cry exploit b/c - up yours.

No idea about the 14.6% stun layers or how they get made, but getting 80% Kin, 40% stun on wookiee hunting armor is nothing special or rare, just need good resources.

Im sorry but accusing me of exploiting to reach those stats was the dumbest thing ive heard in a while.

I log in and start grinding here and there for a few days and ate the "assembly food." Within a matter of about 100 experiments aparti hit the extra point to experiment past the cap TWICE.

did it say "critical success" or "amazing success"?

were different stats noticable on the assembly success screen - or only once you began experimentation?

Have any screenshots of the experimentation screen?

The stats were noticable on the assembly screem. For the life of me I didnt remember if it said critical or amazing. When grinding em out I only looked at the stats/numbers.

Also, when your grinding out dbl amazings (like 67/40 stun) it can BE VERY EASY TO MISS THE higher stats. I can only imagine how many times I may have missed it.

Another observation I made - the assembly tapes are still "bugged" (ie dont work). When equiped vs using the food I got a lot more amazings on assembly with the food.

Something else I have yet to confirm- when researching on other crafting boards some have said that when they get amazings on assembly(not experimentation)it takes less points to reach the cap.

None of those screenies were anything that amazing, I've made 6 x 80 armor unsliced just by having good resources and some good rancor hides.

As for the 40% stun 80% kin wookiee armor, thanks for the laugh...as stated the kinetic on hunting armor works exactly like elec does on composite, therefore this is very easy to reproduce.

I will say that there might be something to critical assemblies as once I achieved 41% stun compositepost "crafter's delight day", when the highest anyone on the server has seen since has been 40%. I also know another smith that got 41% stun when making wookiee armor, but we've yet to see anything like 44%.

Please, inform me where I said any of those were exploited. I just said they were interesting, did I say they were impossible? No. In fact some of them game me some ideas. I gave you props for the nice work, if you wish to take it differently go right ahead I really dont care what anyone thinks. The 44's, the more I think about it do in fact somehow break the crafting code. Is it an exploit? Who knows since only the Dev's determin what an exploit really is. That being said, so what you want and how you want. If you can make those and not get in trouble for it be my guest and enjoy it.

Read the posts and links a--hole. TH basically summed up EXACTLY what I did as not a bug.

A jump that high in kinetic is what I'm questioning even if it were to follow the same rules as comp replacing elec with kinetic all the way up it doesn’t taste right. Kudos’ to you on all your work, it just doesn’t sit well.

And that was the first moment I said it could be but we really dont know to be 100% certain. Many things in this game were not determined to be so until lengthly research was performed on the exact situation. For all we know much like many of the other things the Dev's take incorrectly they might not have understood the question correctly. Did any pose the question exactly as "Is it possible to hit 97% experimentation on ANY item with resources that will cap at 84% without patch tuesday crafting?" probably not.

Also, thank you for the name calling it is greatly appreciated if you must know. It shows me the mentality involved with some of the people playing this game and in this community.
