Thread: multi-component RIS drops are a bug

My letter to the devs:
Dear Devs,
I am very upset about the multiple loot drops for RIS components being a bug. I have millions of credits that I'd rather just sit on than spend for the components, and despite the fact that countless other armorsmiths somehow manage to stay successful crafters and merchants as well as combat elites, I can't be bothered to have a tailor make cloth for me or be in any way dependent on others (like RIS component hunters), so you should make it easy for me.
Hears (sic) whatI think it shouldtake to make RIS: Whine on respective forum board, and have components dropped into my inventory. Thanks!

lol. So weak. God. Its a game. No one is crying but some of you. The scarcity of drops have been an issue since this became a quest. RIS won't become common place. It will reachable by a broader group of AS's. This is so freaking sad its laughable. RIS being common place because 5 scales drop versus 1. I just cannot even find a smidgen of common ground with your views.
This will be my last post. I have watched a few AS dominate opinions on these boards and just sat back. I understand now why so many follow my suit.

Right. Something gets bugged, we comment on it, ask about it, get an answer and everyone who thinks RIS is too difficult comes out of the woodwork to beg to leave the beg as is. Yup. We're the ones crying all right...

That doesn't bother me in the slightest.

That is correct we all have a opinion, I find nothing wrong with it. As it stands I see nothing wrong with the current status of the drops. We killed 5 this morning and nothing its still hard to kill and hard to get anything other than leather from it. I still need to hunt and will continue to hunt for the elusive GDK whither or not if it has multiple drops I do still think they should leave the pekos feathers at multiples that way some armor can be made RIs enhanced.

But Dirth what about stuff like this?
"If this is confrimed to be intendedI'm dropping AS and destroying my RIS resources. Yes kids, I'd take my toys and go home
"
I believe that was your position from a previous post? The quote. Others discuss how much they have spent. Etc...etc....Thats all I'm saying. Most of us want it rare. Just not grindingly impossible to put ONE suit together. An improvement in the drop doesn't hurt the people that have worked hard. Its not taking away something they have earned.

I would love to get a few pieces of RIS Armor, and I've been trying off and on for months now. Recently, a buddy of mine and I have renewed our desires to get a few pieces made, and have started tracking GDK's again. Last night, we were lucky enough to find a total of 6 of them, 2 at the Kimo town, and 4 at a static spawn. We fought and killed them all, and received nothing for our efforts. Other nights, we have hit the Kimo town, and i say that we have fought and killed 12 total in the last few weeks. Now I'm not saying that I want to be finished in one try and get 8 scales or anything, but I would like to be rewarded for efforts in some way.
Take Black Sun NPC's and BH Armor for example. The Black Sun are difficult to locate, but still spawn enough to be found. They are challenging, but defeatable, and there is a pretty good chance of getting a armor piece from one. Sometimes I would get nothing at all for a spawn, sometimes one piece, sometimes 3 total. The point is, I got somekind of reward, something to show for my efforts. That would give me a renewed passion to do it again. I have a completed set of BH Armor now, plus some to spare. My BH can wear it for RP purposes, and I get a great deal of enjoyment from looking cool and unique.
Now night after night of fighting GDK's to get nothing to show for it just isn't fun in my book, which is what this game is supposed to be. It'snot tracking the GDK or the challenge of defeating it that I don't enjoy. It's having such a small, tiny chance of looting what I'm after, to be able to have the thing I want made. It's the camping, the hours spent working to find and defeat a GDK, then ending up feeling like I wasted my time. This is supposed to be fun, this is supposed to be a pastime, it's supposed to be entertainment. I don't want the feeling I get when I've just watched a bad movie (ever seen Eyes Wide Shut?). I don't want to feel like I've wasted my time.
I understand that there are people that have worked their butts off for RIS, and I'm sure that if I was in your shoes I may be upset as well. Regardless though, no one can take away what you have done. You all managed to accomplish what seems to me to be impossible, stomach the camping and the frustrations and complete it. I also understand the frustrations of my friend who is a AS, who has been a part of 45 GDK hunts with the sole purpose of getting a scale, and has come up short. Unless I am mistaken, no other profession has a item that is so hard to make, although the Berserker Rifle is a possible 2nd. Armorsmiths have not gotten the ability to make anything new since launch other than Wookie Armor. Archy's have gotten a lot, same for weaponsmiths, even Tailors have gotten a few new items. RIS and Mandalorian are the two new items that Armorsmiths have received, and they are very high end quest items. I get the feeling that a lot of Armorsmiths would like to be able to create RIS, and I wouldn't mind seeing it a bit more often myself.
It's only my opinion though, really as a outsider that desires to own some RIS. I know that I may seem "whiney", and I'll be the first to admit that I don't have the patience to camp GDK's for months upon months to get 2 scales. It's just not my idea of a good time. If I could spend a eveining hunting them with a good success rate of getting a scale, it would appeal to me more.
In short, not a fan of camping, in fact, my BH will be on Tuesday after the patch to drop Survivial! Anyone want to buy a tent?

Hahah, heck yeah, Eyes Wide Shut was a horrible movie. I was expecting so much from it, too.
Oops, back on target. I overheard someone chatting and they said they looted 30 scales over the course of a day. =/

If oppurtunities are equal, and achievement is personal I see no problem here. It's not as if every gdk drops loads of scales and you find them roaming in coronet. As for the old "RIS people" I hope you are aware that the scale drops have decreased. They used to be more common drops but now people say its a 1/80 drop. Noone complained when the drops became harder but now that they are still hard to drop, but when they drop you find a bunch of them, some peoplewhoalready have RIS started to complain.
I don't care if you spent your 6 months killing billions of gdks, but I appreciate your efforts. I will still pity you though if you dont take this as a personal achievement but as a "right to brag" and when that's taken away you whine like half of the jedi population

well looks like the RIS could be a weekend project now. on 1 set of buffs this weekend, i was able to loot 9 gurk king hides and 2 woolermander bones. if someone is lucking enough to look 9 gdk scales, its possible to finish a suit in one weekend or a day. so much for an epic quest. now what is the fastest time that it took someone to unlock a FS slot?

I'm not convinced this is a bug, I think it is the side effect of a bug fix, if the components DO start dropping in singles with serial numbers, that means EVERY piece of armor will have to be hand crafted, meaning that 5 use interwoven RIS schematic makes 5 segments MAX. Versus making up to 30. /shrug
