With all the elite skills out there, armorsmith in my opinion is the second most slighted but yet useful art. Tailors can creat mind blowing garments tailored specificly to the customer wants and needs. Elite medical staff have their own valued and yet cherished special skillsgiving them an air of we need one in our guild err group.

Armorsmithing is stale and across the bored boring. There are no customization other than a few colors. For example, Composite....blue green red grey or black....Wow, i would like some blue like the few thousand I saw today. I'm currently 'Grinding' away at armorsmith merely to get a peek if anything else at the RIS armor. Real funny, that I must master a profession have several of my buddies to help gather ultra rare components and hopefully i don't critically fail in the final experiment to creat it just to offer my guild mates a unique set of armor. A set of armor that when other guilds or opposite faction would see and say hey...there goes those one guys.... But truth be told by the time I make master armorsmith going for broke....and suffer many weeks of decay....Some other Master Armorsmith will have beaten me to it and have mass quantities for the market and yes....they will be bland and un unique other than a new set of armor not many people have yet to purchase.

I would love to offer my guild a unique set of armor...even if it is bone...lol...able to customize it to a unique feel....I believe the real true reason why the market is soo unbalance for armor is the inability to make unique sets. A true example, I tried a few sets of mambari armor slap nothing but really bright light colors...ie mostly white....and offered the sets to a few vendors...they were all bought and sold before i logged the next day. The citizens of SWG want diversity and something unique. When crafting these various armors I feel that I'm trying to sell work shirts and work pants with casual shoes with only 6 major color variations.

Biggest thing about customers and fellow crafters is that we are all unique. A trait sold by SWG that all characters are unique. My clothing is unique. I still have yet to seeanother player with the same clothing set up as I. My hair and face combo is unique....have yet to see an identical twin. Maybe a fellow player that looks somewhat like me or reminds me of myself...but no true identical. WHY can't my wares be the same?

BTW i feel the droid engineer is the most slighted....lol....Why not assasain droids?

Just wanted to make sure if these things are suggested only read the initial post =)

Male / Female armor

Atleast a few different style helmet for each armor set

More armor on the level of composite for variety and I mean new armor

Powered armor as it does excist in starwars universe (check techbooks finally!)

Stealth armor (stormcommando armor wich really looks like black scout armor not st armor just an example tho many types please =P) that hides you from radar untill lets say 20 meters away ?

Helmets wich only show eyes but thru transparent visor =)

Professions working together taken further: Armor weapons... I wonder why these arent in already biiig in starwars lol and tailors ability to add some details into armor (rank/faction/selection of icons)

And for addition for new armor if you dont just want to give it away (no special components please they are so frustrating) but make research bases that we can infiltrate for schematics (weapons/armor/modification clothing/droids/be goodies) the armorsmiths could even hire people to go get the schematics for them would not hurt immersion ... =)

Factional armor craftable !!! in colors but make those wearing pink st armor instantly die at random intervals I know this doesnt offer much for rebels but then again make them able to wear it lol they do in the movies and books and comics why not in the game ?

Drop padded armor ham costs drastically as I want to wear it for style with my composite =P and the protection/looks arent certainly heavy

Helmet mods for general accuracy and max range possibly ? (MFTAS = multi frequency target aquisition system excists in starwars material it is often found in helmet visors or even sunglasses)

Much stuffcould be foundfrom the old non wotc starwars rpg tech books wich if there is no copyright issues provide great source of items to throw in the game

More compatibility with clothing/armor I dont want armor to mess with my style or style to mess with my protection chestpiece wearable with robes please preferrably on top but invisible beneath will work too =P just one example of this

I'm no wookiee but must point this out that I have seen wookiee wear chestpiece armor and boots in comics and there was some wook bh wearing atleast chestpiece in rpg sourcebook also =) so no full sets for our furballs but even for style's sake partial armor

Did I say variety variety variety! Tailor/Armorsmith unity in armor patterns! I mean texture on the armor just something that overlays a chestpiece (camo--------flowers lol)

When your asking why ask for few things ... =) all of this would work greatly to keep starwars interesting for us that is more to than just a game more on variety later on weaponsmith forum =D anyone else think most weapons look stupid? *cough* republic blaster *cough*

Remove armor's decay penalty. Treat armor as weapons when death occurs.

Fix armor repair. Armor repair is still random, and there is not a noticeable difference using a repair kit with low effectiveness % as opposed to using a repair kit with a high effectiveness %.

I strongly disagree with starsplatter's request to put synthetic cloth and fiberpanels etc on the armor tree! The way it is set up now it gives novice tailors a market for goods early on in there career...... Why should we condemn the tailor proffesion by making them more like ours (A profession top heavy with no market for low end stuff) Infact if there would have been more fore-thought put in one would think we would have components in our low skill tree areas similiar to synthetic cloth and fiberpanels that another profession like say a droid engineer would need to rely on our novice armorsmiths to make for them........This is my two cents on this particular topic!

I agree with JaamesJohnson. I didn't really mind going to a master tailor to get the cloths I needed. I found a few shops, emailed the owner and had plenty the next day. Armorsmith is too singularly focused as it is. No one wants what you make until you are a master. In my opinion the first armor you make should protect against the most common types of weapons. As you progress, you get better and better at making that armor as well as making specialty armor to protect against less common attacks. The RIS armor should counter some super weapon that the weaponsmith has to quest to make.

1: Fix the **edit** holes and shifts on armor and PSGs.

2: More customization and/or more types of armor.

A more specific and descriptive armor encumberance message. Many people don't understand what "You are not healthy enough to wear this armor" means.

"Your constitution is too low to wear this armor" or something similar would work much better.

Unsure when this was changed, but when attempting to put on my helmet, I now get the message, you need 22 more focus / you need 32 more willpower to wear this

First off I would like to say, "Great post"

You managed to say pretty much everything and coverall points in detail, well done!

I am at the moment grinding my way through to Master Armorsmith even though my 1st holocron says Master Doctor. I first gained the Mabari schematic then grinded the Technique skills, I havejust gained Tech 4 this morning. Doing it this way enables you to make some very good (but not the best) Mabari armor which you can sell for a good price, so alreadyI have a sense achievement. People are willing to buy Mabari armor, even really crap pieces. Where beginner Armorsmiths go wrong is when they try and sell their first pieces of armor and flood the market with crap. This puts off anyone wishing to buy armor just like in the real world! It's best to only make a prototype of a piece that you get "Amazing Success" forwhen experimenting and then sell that. This way it limits the amount of low quality armor in the bazaar thus giving you a better chance of selling it. When it does sell you get a nice feeling of appreciation and a desire to further your skills.

I am in this for the fun aspect not to just get the Masternext tomy name. My ambition is to makethe best armors that I can and mass produce them for my brother and myself. Once I have crates worth of all thearmor types I shall move on to do something else. Perhaps I will follow my first holocron!

I hope this helps all you budding armorsmiths!

REMEMBER! If you wouldn't wear it, why would others?

Good luck

There have been a lot of posts in this forum asking what the fastest way to master is, and i know that its common in every craft forum, and that its increased lately due to holocron drops, but I'd like people to take the scenic route a little bit

I can't agree with you more on this. I mean the reason you should be crafting your way to masterdom and not just grinding your way there is to actually learn the trade so you can provide quality items along every step of the road. At the end of the day. if your a master armorsmith who doesn't know which resources are best in what item of armor, then your end product is always going to be sub-standard.

I'd really like PSGs becoming a fourth stat on HAM with own regeneration and max hp, which provides protection unless the hp is depleted. Decay should be ruled through wounds. Perhaps they shouldnt even be repairable then.

Real shields should give a mali to hit for the shield user, but would be a nice addition.

The two things I hate on padded is the big cost for quality hides and the big HAM cost. What I like is the feature of padded that if I use experimentation for special eff on a layered part it increases the special protection of the layer and not blast. So I can good protection for every damage type I want. The drawback is the increased HAM on the padded which is already very heavy without.

Already met my twin. The twins are out there.

I sell just as much padded armor, if not more, as I do composite. I have taken the time, and utilized many resources( ie. commisioning scouts, and using others to mine resources), to make some of the best padded armor in our galaxie(eclipse). I get many referals, since the smiths don't make padded armors. I have put the effectiveness at 39, giving it a nice protection, and still making it lighter than composite. Since it has 2 colors to choose from, and a multitude of color choices, it is the armor of choice for those who want light, yet effective armor that can be tailored to their colorwants. If you are looking for custompadded, look no further than Mercanio
